hi all
do we have any gamers that play both xbox &ps3?
do you put more effort into getting achievements, or trophies?
many xbox 360 gamers put a tonne of effort into building their gamer score, earning the nickname, 'score whores' or 'achievement junkies',
does ps3 have the same thing going on? or is boosting your gamer score an xbox thing?
would love to hear your opinions 🙂
thanks,
jan

June 26, 2011 at 11:03 pm #70052I773D33MABL3MemberI think it depends entirely on which platform you prefer. I started out with achievements on the Xbox 360 and put in quite a bit of effort in finishing some games and getting the 1000g.Â
But I still switched over to PS3 when it was released (even though it didn't have trophies on launch). I prefered the console and when trophies were finally launched I set about getting as many of them as possible, just as I had with the 360.Â
And there are just as many “trophy whores” as there are “achievement whores”. I think the only difference is that on the 360 the emphasis is on your overall score while on the PS3 it's more about the amount of platinum trophies you have. A lot of PS3 gamers pride themselves on game completion and their plat total can be checked at the touch of a button.Â

when i first started looking into this, it seemed that ps3 gamers didn't care so much about earning trophies, that it was all about the gaming, but i can see now that its pretty equal, ps3 gamers chase trophies just as much as xbox gamers chase achievements…
another question:
those of you that own/play both consoles…
would you say that trophies are harder to earn?
xbox has so many 'easy G' games, where you earn the full 1000G for simply playing each level of the game on easy, or even worse, 'eat lead', where you get G for turning the game on, pausing it, watching the credits, and so on…
are there lots of 'easy trophy' games on ps3?
thanks 🙂

I wouldn't assume that all PS3 players are interested in trophies. I have plenty of friends who have no interest in them.
For example, there's currently 4993 registered members of this site (as of typing this), but I'd be willing to bet that at least half (if not a few more are casual gamers).
Maybe you could contact admin and see if he can provide some stats for you (give him something to do ).
