Assassin's Creed Unleashed Returns: Revenge of the Reloaded Revelations – Remastered Redux Edition.
Says the guy who literally bought the same game twice. That's right, folks, he bought Okami HD on release and he believes that it is a superior product to Assassin's Creed 3!! Well from a person who's actually played the game and knows a thing or too about it, I can tell you this: THERE'S A LOTTA FCUKING CHANGE! Almost too much for my tastes, really. For starters, they completely redid the combat system. Counters are now on Circle and when you do successfully counter, time slows to a halt to allow you to decide what method of punishment you will inflict on your assailant. You can shoot him, disarm him, throw him, or normally counterattack similarly from previous installments. Only this time, there's dozens of animations for doing so! Connor uses the environment at a breathtaking level from striking the foe twice to leaping off the wall for a third and final blow, or grabbing an oppenents arm and slamming him into a table or wire holding up a load of crates. He also uses the environment with his gadgets and weaponry. One specific example that I can share was when I saw a poacher at medium range on the ground. I was in a tree at the time and trying to experiment with my new toy, (a dart with a length of rope used to lewer in enemies) I threw the rope dart at him and instead of the predicted result, the dart lodged itself into the poacher's throat and Connor leapt off the tree, rope in hand. This caused the poacher to be hoisted up at an angle in the tree. It was quite possibly the most badass thing I've seen in the entire series. You can also do double counters, use human shields, go through the entire game using a firearm and loads of other improvements not possible in the past games. Navigation's improved, causing less accidental suicides, story length and quality are vastly improved, the setting is the most interesting and awesome to see Templars and Assassin's causing events from my 8th grade history class. I thought the hunting and naval combat would be some lackluster mechanic shoehorned in to give the game more depth (cough, ACR Tower Defense, cough) but they're actually extremely well handled! For hunting you have to actually creep up in brushes of leaves, use bait and traps, and just other things that make the hunt feel like more of a hunt than say, Red Dead Redemption. The steering and naval combat is not as clunky as I thought it'd be. For manning the helm just to sail, you have to take into account wind and other factors that make it authentic and way less boring than what I expected from it. Naval combat is intense. With every enemy shot, you have to brace for cover and both the enemy's and your ship is being slowly torn apart with every cannonball. One last change that I think I should mention is Desmond. Desmond's no longer just a slouch! Without giving too much away, between Animus sessions, he'll be sent out for things such as power sources and artifacts. One mission has him parachuting off a skyscraping crane arm into a fight with an armed Templar! Props, Desmond! Props! So in conclusion, I just wasted twenty minutes typing up improved and new mechanics for AC3. But what the hell?! I love the game and I'll gladly speak on it's behalf since it is the most changed and probably best of the Assassin's Creed franchise. I recommend it for what it's worth… Don't listen to Patrick who hasn't even played the game! Sorry for the novel everybody! Peace!

HD Remakes are different than yearly games in that HD Remakes tend to market themselves as having better graphics and trophy support. So you pay a heavily discounted price and you get a game that delivers 100% on those two promises. Yearly games are marketed as being better than previous titles, but you won't know until you try it. Is Madden 13 better than Madden 12? Is Revelations better than Brotherhood? Is it worth $60 to find out? So I did AC2 and Brotherhood around the same period of time, so when Revelations rolled around, I felt that $60 wasn't worth it to find out if it was $60 better. When it's cheap and I'm in the AC mood, I may pick it up. Some people like Madden and Call of Duty enough that $60 is a worthy expense to play a game that may or may not be better, but the scenery's different. Which I guess is why people buy map packs.
I have been getting upset at the fact that people will buy yearly releases instead of new experiences or heavily improved games or whatever, but I think I've just come to an understanding here and can hopefully start making peace with that fact.
Now the HD Remakes are the exact same game that I played before, but the two differences (marketing aside) are that the game is heavily discounted and it's been 6 years or more since I last played it. At that point, the game's basically all new to me again.
Also, have you played a fair portion of Okami? You're getting mad at me for having not played AC3 and thinking Okami is better, but have you played enough Okami to know that AC3 is better than Okami? I know you haven't played any Zelda games, which at least have a few similarities to Okami. I've played AC2 and Brotherhood, which have core similarities to AC3. It's fine if you want to say a game you've played is better than a game you haven't played, but you can't do that and get mad at me for doing it. Also, if you say that you never said that, you can't get mad at me for that either, because I never said Okami was better than AC3.

Says the one who bought Jak & Daxter HD Collection and played it on the PS2.
November 5, 2012 at 12:20 am #72462gr8jrfanMember@Seibei4211 I, like you, was just making a joke and I'm by no means angry at you but I found that joke a good opportunity to maybe clear up a misconception of a lack of change in AC3. Because really ACR is almost an exact copy of ACB but I think the 3rd actual entry deserves some credit. Some people think the series is milked and I'd be inclined to agree with them had AC3 not feel like a fresh new entry in the series. And @scotty243 Yes, I have bought HD Collections and they hold value through the reasons that Patrick stated and for buying HD Collections I think I have to withhold the “that game looks weak because it's the same as the last one” argument…
