Astro Tripper Trophy Guide
By ShadeBlack
Introduction:
Astro Tripper is a furious shoot-em-up experience inspired by the painful, knuckle busting experiences of years gone by. An evolution of PomPom's 2001 award winning game, Space Tripper. Travel the surface of large horizontally-scrolling platforms, and pit your highly manoeuvrable craft against hoards of enemies eager to blow you to bits, eat you or worse.
Gameplay is simple. You are free to travel anywhere on the platform at anytime, but don’t fall off! Powerful Blue Lasers and Red Spread Lasers come equipped, so use both weapons tactically to get through tricky situations. Power up your weapons with power crystals dropped by destroyed enemies. Oh, did we mention the blasting absolutely anything that moves?
There are only a few trophies for this title, which reflects the game’s rather small length. At best, this game is roughly 3 or 4 hours if you can get the hang of it quick enough.Personally, it took me about half an hour just to get used to the motion of the game. I had to play the first couple levels over a few times in order to gain full control of the little ship.
Trophies & Guide:
Pod Opressor
Destroy 10 mutalitaed pods in any one level of training grounds.
Very Easy.
You can do this on the first training level, just continue killing the enemies until this trophy pops up, about 1 minute into the level, you should get the trophy.
Spidery Point
Destroy the spider boss on Arachnophobia
Easy.
Although some people say this is hard, I believe it’s just a case of patience. You may feel the need to to just go at the thing with everything you’ve got, but actually you can’t because the trophy description is slightly wrong on the ps3. You need to kill the boss without blowing up any of its weapons (its limbs).
Get the boss down to one of the ends of the arena and avoid its attacks until it starts shooting the blue balls at you. Shoot to destroy the blue balls, and then it will open its mouth to its core. The core will also shoot a large bean at you, so be sure to shoot only a few times and then dodge the beam.
Repeat this process a few times to beat the boss. Just make sure you don’t shoot any of the other parts of the spider.
Tank Oppressor
Destroy 20 tanks in sequence
Easy.
The first level of the ‘Dreadnoughts’ world is full of these tanks, but it may take a few tries due to everything else shooting at you as well. When you start the level, go to the left and you should see two holes. This is where the tanks come out. Kill those as they appear and just make sure you dodge the turrets shooting at you.
Tank Sympathizer
Destroy both Generators on Claustrophibia Without Killing a Tank
Medium – Difficult, but not Hard.
The second level of the ‘Dreadnought’s world – the generators are very clearly on both sides of the ship. I immediately went for the left generator first – if you do it fast enough, you won’t get many enemies trying to kill you. With the first generator destroy, move swiftly to the second and do the same, but beware of the three tanks now stacked up on the same side. You will have to shoot a few shots at the generator’s barriers, and then move out of the way of the bullets from the tanks. If you can get into a pattern with the enemies, this trophy can be done in one try. Good luck!
Fly Swatter
Destroy 3 Flypods within 5 seconds on any level of insect infestation
Medium – can be frustrating.
This is on the first level of the ‘Insect Infestation’ world. Nearer to the end of the level, several fly pods will appear. There should be 3 on either side of the map. Shoot them all down as fast as you can to get the trophy. If you don’t get it, you’ll just have to try again.
Worm Tangle
Destroy 3 Worms in sequence on The Ooze
Medium – can be frustrating.
On the second level of the ‘Insect Infestation’ world. The biggest problem you will face in achieving this trophy is getting rid of all the ‘needle’ enemies. They are generally a LOT of them, and you need to get rid of them as fast as possible in order to clear a path to successfully shoot down all three worms. The worms themselves can be very annoying as well – if you let them get too close to you, you might end up trapped in by them. Keep fighting the swarms of needle enemies until 3 worms have appears and grouped together. When you get a chance at a clear shot of all three, destroy the three worms for this trophy.
Sneeky Incursion
Detroy the boss without opening more than one outer door. Only 1 of the 3 outer doors may be opened to any degree
Hard.
The fourth level of the ‘Temple of Gods’ world.
I had to try this three times in order to get it. By shooting the orbs on the big rotating barrier, you weaken and eventually destroy one of the doors. For this trophy, you are only allowed to open ONE door. If you accidentally destroy another door, you cannot get this trophy. Once you go through the door, shoot the boss as quickly as possible, while trying to stay in rotation of the door you created. If you don’t, you could end up trapped when he starts to attack you. Eventually, the boss will send out a large wave and everything will be reversed. That’s your queue to get out, kill the new enemies coming from the sides and repeat the process. The barrier will also speed up, so be sure make your timing perfect, or its lights out!
Wheel Collector
Complete Level Fizz Wheels without killing a fizz wheel (the rollling wheels connected by a laser)
Hard!
Second level of the ‘Temple of Gods’. This trophy involves both luck and skill; you need to completely the level without destroying any of the wheels that go down both sides of the tracks. In-between the wheels, the beam periodically goes out, this gives you a small amount of time to simply go through them, instead of waiting to go around. Another thing to be away of is that you CAN shoot through the beams in the middle of the wheels. By shooting through the middle, you can potentially save a bit of time. Other than that, when you’re done, you’ll have to wait for last wheels to exit the level. That’s where the luck comes in. If you’re one second over, you’ll have to try again. Good luck!Summary:
Overall, it’s a really fund game with a small, yet nice addition to your trophy collection. If you’re the kind of person who likes to get 100%, then this game is a must as the trophies are fairly easy all-round with the exception of one.August 5, 2009 at 4:23 pm #35457Oz-MetalheadMemberNice guide shadeblack.
