Just a quick question to see if anyone from the UK can help me out with a little problem.
I really want to order the special edition of 'Heavy Rain', as well as import a copy of 'EyePet' since it's taking forever to come to Canada. My dilemma regards DLC. Unfortunately that is not region-free. The only thing holding me back from pre-ordering HR and importing EP is the fact that I'd like to buy their DLC as well and I don't have a UK credit card.
My question is, would anyone in the UK be willing to trade a UK PSN card for a Canadian PSN card? I know that there's a lot of stuff that shows up on the Canadian store that doesn't come to the UK/Europe, so I figured a trade wouldn't be a bad deal. We could just exchange the PSN card number via e-mail so there's no shipping costs.
With shipping and conversion rates, a UK PSN card off eBay would cost me well over $80 Canadian, so this would be greatly cheaper and much more convenient. I know there's a major trust issue with doing stuff like this, but if anyone from the UK is willing to help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Say ur primary account is Canadian and you make a UK one to get the DLC, the DLC will work on the UK account but changing back and using the DLC on the Canadian account will not work. I know that full PSN titles work on different regions but the DLC will not, thats why its not region free.
You might want to check this because I might be wrong, good luck anyway

January 21, 2010 at 3:34 am #55949I773D33MABL3MemberI don’t think regions affect DLC. I was always able to play my Warhawk DLC on my American and Japanese accounts and my LBP DLC worked fine on them both as well. That said, some developers might region-lock their DLC, especially if release dates are different.
January 21, 2010 at 2:12 pm #55964PS3 TrophiesKeymasterDoesn't matter what region your accounts is, it'll work on all of them as long as you have the matching region on the disc.

Yeah, see, that's what I always thought. Matching the region of the disc should be all that matters as far as DLC goes.
January 22, 2010 at 2:24 am #56059I773D33MABL3MemberJust be careful mate, if a DLC requires a game update to register the new trophies then that update might be region locked so even if you have the DLC your account mightn’t be in the correct region for the update.
January 22, 2010 at 12:07 pm #56085tridonMemberThanks, I773D33MABL3. Yeah, I'm thinking that this may not be the most risk-free thing to do. I guess I'll just buy the less-cooler, much uglier 'Heavy Rain' and wait for the rest of my life for 'EyePet'. Grr…
January 22, 2010 at 12:08 pm #56086tridonMemberOh, and for some reason, I couldn't turn off 'bold' in that last message. Weird.
January 22, 2010 at 6:24 pm #56091ecurryMemberwhen you buy a game or dlc from an alternative region(EU) compared to your main one(CAN), you will be able to play the games on both accounts but you will not be able to gain any trophies when connected to the Canadian PSN.
When i play a game over in Ireland and it gets a trophy patch or registers a trophy won, it comes from PSN EU. When you get a trophy patch you connect to the Canadian/US PSN. As there is no trophies available in your region it would not be possible to access the trophies on that PSN server as the trophies are not there. That is my opinion anyway, i cannot see how they would do it any differently tbh.
I would be willing to buy you a PSN card in exchange for monies paid into my Paypal account but it would have to be euro's as i live in Ireland.

Thanks for that. I think that I've actually decided that importing and everything would be too big of a hassle, so I don't think I'll go through with it anymore. Thanks again, though. Much obliged!
January 22, 2010 at 11:13 pm #56122ecurryMemberNo problem it probably would be too much hassle playing with regions
January 23, 2010 at 2:14 pm #56140emdeepeeMemberTridon – To the best of my knowledge there's been 12 DLC packs so far with eyepet in the UK (incl a Xmas pack). 11 of which have been free. You wouldn't have any problems downloading these if you change your mind and import the game.
