Ok, first of all congrats for purchasing Batman, it's an awesome game and I hope you enjoy it! And secondly, for those of you thinking about getting the platinum trophy it can be done, the only thing that you might lose sleep and blood and sweat and tears over is the challenge rooms but don't worry; perseverance and energy drinks are your friend!
Most of trophies can be yours through only two play throughs of the game and some you will get through the challenge rooms, so without any further ado, here is my trophy guide amigos!
There are 48 trophies in Batman Arkham Asylum: 28 Bronze, 18 Silver, 1 Gold and the coveted Platinum!
I suggest you start off in normal mode, it isn't that hard so don't worry. In your first run through these are the trophies you should be aiming for:
- Shocking Rescue
- Leave No Man Behind
- Mal practice Needs More Practice
- Born Free
- Just What The Doctors Ordered
- Daydreamer
- Baneful Payback
- Breaking And Entering
- Recurring Nightmare
- Zsasz Cut Down To Size
- Solitary Confinement
- Double Trouble
- Resist The Fear
- Crocodile Tears
- Poisoned Ivy
- Big Bang
- Bigger Bang
- Party Pooper
- Night Glider
- Rope-a-dope-a-dope
- Catch
- Freakshow Rodeo
- Arkham Analyst
- Cryptic Investigator
- Lateral Thinker
- Mystery Solver
- Conundrum Cracker
- Mental Athlete
- Riddle Resolver
- Crack The E Nigma
- World's Greatest Detective
I've left the free flow combat trophies out because you can get them during the combat challenges as well so we'll assume that you'll get them there.
The first 17 of these trophies you will get passing certain points in the game. I'll explain each one briefly:
Shocking Rescue – Pretty much grapple to the gargoyles behind zsasz and glide kick him, then finish him off with a ground takedown
Leave No Man Behind – Pull up the two guards and one henchman that are hanging precariously over the poison gas
Malpractice Needs More Practice – Easy stuff, when it gets ready to run at you, tap L1 in its' direction to throw a batarang and then double tap x to dive out of the way!
Born Free – Just get out of the intensive treatment are to the surface and you'll get this trophy
Just What The Doctors Ordered – There are three doctors that need saving, with doctor young you just need to apply explosive gel to the walls. Make sure you crouch when going round the corner though as they'll see you through the glass. Another is just your standard beat up the goons, and the other one if my memory serves correctly is to fire batarangs at control panels o get rid of the gas, turn on your detective vision so you can see these panels.
Daydreamer – Run to each hiding place when the scarecrow turns his gaze away and you should be fine, patience is a virtue for this one.
Baneful Payback – This can be a tricky one. He is although just like a titan henchman so when he starts to run throw a batarang and jump out of the way. Start hitting him after he's hit the wall. Batman should jump on him and take out one of the pumps. When the henchmen start coming down to help bane just counter there attacks and ignore them. Focus on bane as he should take out most of them when they run towards you.
Breaking and Entering – I'm trying my best to remember how I got this trophy, it's after bane so it's not in medical but it's before the second scarecrow engagement so I'm guestimating that it's for either getting into the batcave or into the mansion (sorry I forgot guys!)
Recurring Nightmare – Again this is like the first scarecrow encounter but he summons skeletons to fight you now so dispatch them like you would any other goon but contrary to what people may tell you DONT GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT!
Zsasz Cut Down To Size – Easy enough crouch at the corner and when he pokes his bald head out throw your batarang for his cranium!
Solitary Confinement – Easy again but if you get too engaged with the guards then you will get fried! Keep the encounters with the guards short and make sure you look for the tell tale signs that the floor is about to crispify you!
Double Trouble – When one starts to run throw the batarang and evade it, but look immediately for the other one, because as soon as the first one charges the second one will follow pretty quickly. After their both dazed watch out for them swinging their arms about, but just make sure to hop on one of their backs when their one the ground so you can hurt the other one.
Resist The Fear – Again, another scarecrow encounter, avoid the light. When you get to the end, you'll have to fight a large number of skeletons and a couple of titan skeletons. Luckily with the titan skeletons it only takes one charge into a wall for them to become incapacitated so take care of the rest and this trophy is yours!
Crocodile Tears – This one can get a bit creepy, but anywho, don't run just walk quickly in the direction you have to go. If you here the violins screech then you'll know to aim your batarang for his neck collar straight away. Continue this till you've got all the antidote you need then start to walk back. At around the 200 mark he'll jump out and come after you so just run and wait for him to come towards the trap.
Poisoned Ivy – Fairly simple this one. When she starts growing plants all around you I found it effective to run to either the very left or the very right, all the while keep throwing batarangs at her. Same for when she starts shooting multicoloured balls at you run around and throw the batarangs at her. If the little protective barrier opens up then you can sacrifice getting hit if you can get the shot off as it damages her more.
Big Bang, Bigger Bang – Complete the game is all you need to do here. When joker has his back turned towards the helicopters, get your batclaw out and pull him down then knock him around a bit. Rinse and repeat and you should have it completed!
That was the campaign trophies. Now here are some of the miscellaneous ones you should pick up:
Party Pooper – This one can take a while but I found a sneaky little trick you can do. When you've got the four by the door taken care of, go inside. They won't hurt you until you hurt one of them. Place explosive gel in each third of the room. If your good, you might have take everyone out if not, start attacking the remaining few and K.O them. For more combat tips look down for my tips for the combat rooms!
Night Glider – Great place to do this is on top of Arkham Mansion, at the clock tower. Once you get to the top, glide towards the batcave, if you are way above the batcave area then double back and you should get it.
Rope-a-dope-a-dope – Easily done, string up one henchmen from a gargoyle then when one of them comes to investigate, fire a batarang at the rope so the strung up henchmen lands on the other one.
Catch! – Throw a remote control batarang and go full circle till you get it back to the dark knight himself
All of the trophies concerning the riddler challenges can easily be found. If you find all of the secret maps then you'll know the location of all the riddles. When you are riddle hunting I suggest that you keep detective vision on at all times so you find everything easier. All of the riddles that have clues in green letter are all about various villains and characters from batman so if you see something that reminds you of a villain then odds are you should take a snapshot of it. With the aligning the question mark trophies, keep detective vision on, and when you find the main body of the question mark then with your eyes on when it's the right way around keep heading backwards until you see the dot that connects the two. If you can't head backwards then get to the high ground and observe the ground below for anything you might have missed.
World's Greatest Detective – For this you must get all the Chronicles of Amadeus Arkham. Through the riddle challenges you should have found all but one of them. The last one is in the penitentiary, where you rescued the warden and where clayface is locked up. It's right on the ground where the posh warden was kept.
Right, the trophies we have left to get are:
- Biggest Bang
- Freeflow Combo 5
- Freeflow combo 10
- Freeflow Combo 20
- Freeflow Combo 40
- Mano-a-Mano
- Freeflow Perfection
- Freakshow Rodeo
- Freeflow Bronze
- Freeflow Silver
- Freeflow Gold
- Predator Bronze
- Predator Silver
- Predator Gold
- Invisible Predator
- Flawless Freeflow Fighter
- Perfect Knight
I'm going to take you through each individual predator challenge first as their easiest. I suggest you also do these challenges on your normal batman difficulty account as with the combat challenges if it's on hard, you won't get the indicator to tell you when henchmen are going to punch your lights out.
Silent Knight – Your three objectives are to perform a silent takedown, explode a weak wall into a henchman and knock down a henchmen with a batarang then take him down. First thing to go for is the explode a wall objective. Go for the guy close to the second floor exit as he never moves from the spot. Don't explode it yet, the guy on the highest walkway is your target for the silent takedown, then the rest should come naturally to you!
Silent Knight EXTREME – This can be a devilishly tricky one but not if you observe things! Do not grapple on to the gargoyles as they will explode. You must take down three enemies with three different walls, line launch through a window into a henchmen on the other side and then glide kick a henchmen followed by a knockdown. The guards all have a routine. You might have to move quickly though if you want to catch them all early on. The three walls is your first target. Go straight to your right past the broken up cell and under the floor, go left and come straight up you should be in a room with one of the Chronicles of Arkham. The wall is to your left on the ceiling. Go back out past the ruined cell and up on the second floor using the ladder on your left. You should go up on top of the small room (this will be your main point of hiding during this level, you'll see why i picked this in a little bit). The second wall is on top of this room. Your last wall to set up is with our old friend that goes no-where this level by the second floor exit. Spruce up his wall and go to your designated hiding place. If you do all of this very fast, the enemies should align up on the 50 second mark. If not don't worry, they align up again on the 3 minute mark exactly! On the 3 minute mark you might also get a fourth victim by our friend near the exit on the second floor. I choose your hiding place because our next objective can be completed here. When the guard finishes looking at his K.O'd buddy hop down and you'll notice this room has windows, line launch out of it when the appropriate goon walks past. Then all you have to do is glide kick one unfortunate man and your sorted!
Record Breaker – The objectives here are to batclaw a guy off a ledge, ledge takedown a guy and corner takedown a guy, all very easy! Get your detective vision on and you'll see a guy on the ledge coming towards you, ledge takedown him and then escape on top of the gargoyles, when the others come to investigate, batclaw one or three of them off the ledges. After this you're left with corner takedown. Just wait for a guy to come around a corner then toast his ass!
Record Breaker EXTREME – No gargoyles once again! Your aims are to Line launch 2 henchmen in the face, knock down 3 henchmen with one remote control batarang and knockout a henchmen using a sonic batarang (you will have to upgrade your sonic batarang to explodimify when their thrown!). Start by getting yourself to the other side of the map and sonic bataranging the sucker on the ground floor, as soon as this is done, throw the remote control batarang the way you came. You should be able to get two on the ground floor then steer it to the walkways for the third hit! After this go into hiding for a bit until some of them pair together. If you can find two henchmen on the walkways then line launch towards them. Finish the level off and that's this one done!
Survival Tactics – Tactics are to smash through a glass ceiling and take down a guy, perform inverted takedown from a gargoyle and drop down on top of a henchman and then knock him out. Easy stuff, start off with the glass ceiling. This can be done in the middle building, wait till someone is below then the option to smash hulk style through the glass should appear, go into hiding after this. Wait for someone under a gargoyle and then inverted takedown him. After this hang once again from a gargoyle and just drop down then knock him out.
Survival Tactics EXTREME – You know the routine, no gargoyle stuff here! Use the triple batarang to knock down three henchmen, line launcher someone off a ledge to knock them out (harder than it seems!) and punch an armed henchmen?!?!? You might want to go for an isolated henchman first off for punching him to get that out of the way. When the guards surrounded their injured compadre, wait till they start to walk off then triple batarang them. They won't get knocked down if they're inspecting the K.O'd guy. After this get rid of all but one and throw a sonic batarang near an edge. The one I used is just outside the middle building on the middle floor, where you came through the vent to this area in the first place. When he's suitably lured in, take him out via the good old line launcher!
Invisible Predator – This one can be quite hard. You must spray explosive gel on the floor (with the proximity detonation upgrade) and wait for him to walk over it, take down three henchmen with the one wall, and jump out of a floor grate to take down a henchman. Firstly, I would go to the very left where the vent is and get in. You now have a good hiding place. Get out of the ventilation system and get down to the lower floor. There are three grates you can pop out of to surprise henchmen. Before you pop in one, place explosive gel on the all by the middle grate. Get into position by the middle grate, and when one guard floats by, pop out and take him out, it doesn't matter if you're seen or not get into the middle grate again straight away and wait for everyone to come look for you, and then explode the wall. The only thing you have left to do is to lure a guard to a spot past some gel. I suggest using sonic batarangs but you can do whatever you think suits best!
Invisible Predator EXTREME – This is a good time to see the psychiatrist about your new found fetish for gargoyles you've discovered through the course of the game because you've guessed it, the gargoyles are booby trapped and will explode! This is probably the hardest one to get right. You have to pull the floor out from two henchmen using the batclaw, pull 3 henchmen of a ledge by using the batclaw and appear out of nowhere to surprise a terrified henchman. You must be pretty snappy about what you do here. Firstly, grapple on to the platform immediately in front of you and pull yourself up. The henchmen on the very left that doesn't move from the spot is your first target, sonic batarang him (and explode) then jump down to your immediate left and wait for 3 of the guards to congregate around him, use the batclaw to get all three of them flying off the ledge. If they don't gather around him, try it again. Once you've done this, make your way to the opposite end of the map and get under the two guards that NEVER ever move! Take the floor out from underneath them. Eliminate guards until there's one left; knock him down with a batarang, then stand over him as he starts to regain consciousness. You should have all of the predator medals now, well done!
You can probably go to the first predator challenge and silent take down everyone easily enough so the Invisible Predator trophy will be yours.
Let's try and tackle these combat trophies then. This is probably the hardest part in the game so I'll give you all the tips I've gathered from painstakingly getting through them all and even coming 15th in the last combat room!
There are 4 rounds in each combat room. Each with an increasing amount of guards or increasingly annoying things that they start to do. There are bonuses you can get at the end of each round. They are:
Dark Knight Bonus – 500 points for taking no damage, 4000 at the end if you take no damage throughout each round.
Freeflow Bonus – 1000 points at the end of each round if you successfully manage to keep the combo going from start to finish without it being interrupted or you cocking up!
Variation Bonus – The points you get for this varies depending on how many of batmans different moves you use during your longest combo. You get 5000 points for using a 9 point variation combo in the one free flow attack. Yes you read right, 9 different attacks you can do. This is the most useful of all the bonuses so above all make sure you get this bonus (especially in the EXTREME combat rooms!) You will also get the Freeflow Perfection trophy for including all batmans moves in one combo.
Here are all the moves you can do:
[ ] – Attack
Δ – Counter
O – Stun
XX – Jump
ΔO – Finisher
X[ ] – Throw
L1 – Batarang
R2 R2 – Batclaw
R2 Δ – Ground Takedown
These are the 9 moves you must combine in one combo to get those elusive 5000 points! All of these must be coupled with the direction you want, normally in the direction of one of the many unfortunate goons. The double X is for you jumping over goons, this is useful for evading most if not all attacks and as a good bridge between attacks if henchmen are too far away. Stun is useful for those pesky knife henchmen but other than that I don't use it unless I need to fill up the combo variation. You must double tat R2 for the batclaw, this is very useful for getting henchmen closer to you but it make sure you don't do it when there are henchmen to your sides or behind you as it takes a little longer than you think. Again only ground takedown when there are no henchmen around. Batarang is very useful but if you're in the middle of a combo then you might have thrown 3 batarangs so watch out. Finishers are a God send and they take down a goon immediately. You'll probably get the Flawless Freeflow Fighter trophy during the challenge rooms so no need to worry about that. As for my tips for beating the challenge rooms, here they are:
– Countering is your best friend. If surrounded by henchmen and you're just coming out of a counter it takes longer for you to punch someone than for them to punch you so if you see an incoming attack always counter it or jump over them to get rid of the danger.
– I will stress once more that filling up the variation bonus will safe you so much heartache!!!! So do it!
– Finishers work well to take out people so if there are around 20 henchmen always use it once you get those 5 or 8 hits in the combo.
– Throwing henchmen away from the crowd creates distance for you to safely take him down with a ground takedown thereby eliminating 2 moves you need to do for the variation bonus. And if you get far enough away from the pack use the batclaw if you're too far away to get back.
– Using the batarangs during a combo are frighteningly effective and very fast so if you're surrounded like when trying to get the Party Pooper trophy. You could probably use them before someone attacks you then get in a very quick counter
– I usually start the combat with a counter then build up a few kicks then another counter to easily build up the finisher so you can take someone out early!
– When the knife guys and stun rod guys come in to play take out their surrounding players without these abilities first then take out the knife/stun rod users with a finisher early on so you don't have to bother with them later on.
– In some of the rounds the henchmen will go for cinder blocks in the walls and will throw these at you. They can throw them at you when you're doing a finisher and counter so make sure you batarang them when they have them held above their heads, it'll knock them down temporarily!
– Another annoying thing they start to do is go for the guns…you must stop this AT ALL COSTS. A good batarang during a combo usually does the trick, but if there are too many guards between you, jump over them or batclaw them out of the way then get a finisher on them as soon as possible.
– The titans come into play in Rumble in the Jungle and its EXTREME version as well so what you want to do is immediately get the hell out of their way and take out some of the surrounding players, try to involve the titan in you combos but jumping on its back and knocking the goons around. Once your thrown off you'll definitely half enough combos to finish off someone so immediately go for that, then start the with the punching and kicking again. You can get the Freakshow Rodeo trophy easy enough in the EXTREME Rumble in the Jungle level easily enough on the second round. The titan usually kicks you off after you get around 14 hits in!
– The Shock and Awe levels can get a bit hard since there's a timer on them. You just need to keep your combos flowing and make sure you finish people off pretty soonish. The hardest time you'll get with the timer is the EXTREME combat room round 3 and 4. I managed to get the target score in the first two rounds so I had to just kill as quickly as possible; this is what you'll be aiming for as well!
– Usually, if I didn't get a perfect free flow combo in the first round with a big variation bonus then I restarted it. It isn't necessary to get it in the first round but it sets you up for an easier time the next rounds and eases off the pressure a little bit.
You can get the Mano-a-Mano and Freeflow Combo 40 trophies in the combat room Rumble in the Jungle. In the second or fourth round you'll come across a titan on its' own so make it your bitch without using batarangs! I got combo of 40 during the third round of this level. This is because it's a big area with lots of easy goons to take out. You have complete freedom. One of the best ways is to punch once then jump straight over a goon to avoid any counter attacks, but I believe that's the girls way of doing it! Get stuck in and fight like Batman would. Plenty of combos and finishers and some jumping around mixed in with some flashy batarangs and the occasional throw/ground takedown combination and you should have this trophy easily!
By completing the challenge rooms you should get 100% complete and the Perfect Knight trophy to boot! The last thing you must do my friends it complete the game on hard difficulty. The only trophy you should need from this is the Biggest Bang trophy so you don't have to hunt for anything else! You may have heard that it's incredibly difficult but if you've completed all the challenge rooms you should find it a pushover. One of the only differences is that there is no indication over the heads of the enemies when they go to hit you, but you will have been fully trained enough to cope with this during the combat rooms!
If you've made it this far then congratulations my friends, you have another platinum trophy. I hope this guide has helped. If you need any more help then comment here or add me on PSN – NinjaMidgetRyan

These are the locations of the Secrets maps in Arkham Asylum. These maps are incredibly important in defeating all the riddler challenges. These maps give you the location of all the riddlers trophies, riddle answers, etc.
Arkham East:
The Riddler's secrets map is in the guard room closest to the Arkham Mansion stairs and statue of Warden Sharp. You can't get in until you've received the security-hacking sequencer.
Arkham West:Once you have the ability to hack open security doors, look for a guard room halfway between the Medical Facility and the Penitentiary. The Secrets map is inside the guard room.
Arkham North:
There is a office on the east side, with a destructible roof. You will need the explosive gel to get inside.
Arkham Mansion:
Located in the Warden's Office section. Find the Grand Fireplace, and look to the left. You will see against the wall. The map is on the desk.
Botanical Gardens:
It is located in the Glasshouse Generator Room. Look up to find an electrical gate, high up in the room. Grapple up to it, use the Sequencer (Extension Upgrade Needed) and disarm the door. Walk inside to find the map.
Caves:
Located in the Pump Control room, you need the Ultra Batclaw to get into the room. Once in their, you will see the map on a side table beside the entrance you come in from.
Intensive Treatment:
You cant get this one until you search for Killer Croc's Lair. Its in the Secure Transit section. Head to the very bottom of the facility, which is down two elevator shafts, then look for an office with Killer Croc research. The map is in the room.
Medical Facility:
This map is located in the Experimental Chamber section. Its where you must save Gordon from Harley Quinn, without being noticed by guards. Its a room with a window that over-looks everything, and the map is on a desk in the room.
Penitentiary:
Its in the Extreme Incarceration Section. Directly after you arrest Harley, go into that control tower she was just in, and the map is in there.
Sorry if its tough to understand some of the locations, i wish i had some pics..

you have to do it without being seen by the enemies the whole round… a qualifier not mentioned here or in the trophy description.
