What do you guys think is the best portable gaming system?
My choice = iPod Touch. Absolutely has the best games, best variety, and the games are a lot cheaper. I play games on it more than my PSP and DS combined.
June 27, 2009 at 10:25 pm #29155kingofgames73MemberDS, because i get all my games for free with a little thing called an R4, also i can watch videos, listen to music, use loads of cool homebrew on it for absolutely free
June 27, 2009 at 11:24 pm #29156gamerbenMemberPSP as it has a wider range of popular shi
ooting and racing games, that i like. e.g. resistance retribution. motorstorm arctic edge
June 28, 2009 at 2:43 am #29164parnakasMemberI like shooters better on the iPod Touch… i refuse to play shooters on PSP because of the awful controls.
Racers, iPod Touch has some amazing ones, for $10, while the PSP has some amazing ones for $30.
Only thing i like better on PSP is sports games, because i havent tried any out on iPod Touch..
June 28, 2009 at 11:23 am #29171shadeblackParticipanttoo many germs on ipod touches. though it is a nice system, I would prefer it without the touch feature. all it does is make it more expensive so apple can get more money without really doing much.
I was also considering getting an ipod, whether it be a touch, or an ordinary, but the ipod classic has several music playback issues, the ipod firmware is going to be updated soon (which is actually a bad thing btw), and itunes sucks so much I can't believe more people complain about it.
As a music player, I currently have a Zune, but that also sucks because microsoft are so completely idiotic, they decided to make their own product not compatable with their own software. installing zune on windows is a chore, and their is no way to sync it with the, better of most media applications, Windows media player. the zune software is a cheap immitation of windows media player and only one third as functional, not to mention, slow, bulky, and refuses to read music tags properly. The zune also offers games as of version 3.1 i believe, but they suck so much it's like we were living 30 years ago. They work better as applications, but it's nothing like the ipod's ability to play games and make excellent use of applications. so why do i still have a zune? -it's not an ipod!
psp is good if you homebrew it, same with DS, but psp has a better screen with better graphics – therefore has the capacity to do more.
oddly enough i don't have a psp, but rather a DS. I don't use it often, but overall it's not bad. the stylus is annoying and i try not to use it at all. some people say thats the best part of it, but since I'm a gamer – and not some retarded housewife – I tend to just use the D-pad and buttons. Why? because it's easier, and using the stylus is slow, and you often end up with your own hand in the way. One thing I'll never get used to is cranking my neck down to see a tiny screen. I'm far to used to being on my recliner, with my surround sound, ps3, and 40″ 1080p TV. Let's face it, The DS should have been designed so that you can plug it into a TV to use as the top screen.
Overall, hand held systems are okay if you have nothing else, or you're out and about and obviously cannot bring your home cinema experience on the train ride with you to work o_O
But the lack of ergonomic structure involved in the creation of the handhelds in question, along with the lack of decent graphics from most of them, several incompatabilities, and feble attempts to be unique, mean that almost none of the companies involved are gonne get MY money.
I'm sure they don't care though! ~Who in the world would ever think the companies care about what thier customers say!?

lol without the touch? does that not mean you just dont want the whole system?
itunes is decent, not the best, but it works fine. The new iPod firmware fixed A LOT of things, and added some new features.
I can not believe you have a Zune. It sucks soooo much crap its not even funny.
I guess you are just against Apple? iPod touch is brilliant! there is a lot of pointless apps, but you are not forced to buy them. There is so many excellent apps, and none of them are ridiculously priced. I cant comment on the iPod Classic, as i dont have one. My friend has one, and he has never complained once. But as for the iPod Touch, i think it is amazing.
June 29, 2009 at 5:27 pm #29243MiiiitchMemberiPhone’s are better than the iTouch i have both and the phone is way more resonsive. games on those are crap but there’s heaps of awesome apps to make up for it. i’ve got 12 pages of apps on my iPhone. I’m enjoying my DSi at the moment got sick of the PSP. anyone else have a DSi?

um… my cousin has an iPhone, it is the EXACT same thing as an ipod touch when i comes to gaming ability. Both play games exactly the same. Just the iPhone has the built-in mic, thats it.
How are the games crap? i enjoy them… And yes, i have 10 pages of apps/games on my touch.
June 30, 2009 at 5:23 am #29277MiiiitchMemberiPhone’s make the iTouch look like shit as the phone is more responsive by far. either way games on both suck (IN MY OPINION!!)

that's silly… the ipod touch could easily be re-assembled without the touch facility. I never said the touch was bad, i just said it wasn't for me. Since you seem to think any negative feedback on the ipod means im an apple hater, I'm guessing you'd be considered an overzealous fan – you should really work on that y'know!
itunes does what it's supposed to do, i never said it didn't, but once again it doesn't do what i want it to do.
the new firmware actually stops several things being done. However, I never said it would be entirely useless – Of course it's gonna fix several things, but in comparison, why d'you think that people don't update thier psp and such? because they want to be able to do specific things based on the firmware that's already there. if the firmware continues to update, then certain things have to modified (if it's even possible afterwards) to do the same thing again. While updates often fix a lot of bugs and problems on the initial system in question, they raise further issues with many other items. That's why I consider new firmware update to be bad thing.
If i got an iPod (and I was looking into it recently), I'd have to have it set up to sync up with windows media player rather than itunes for reasons I've already discussed.
Another reason to dislike the ipod? Processes! Check your task manager, and you'll find on average 3-5 processes just for the ipod. for someone like me, who keeps a close on processes, this is unacceptable.
The zune is no way near as back as you think. Did you know, the mobile phones that sell the most are the ones that only include the functions to phone people and nothing else? The Zune, as a simple media player performs its role and does it without any problems. That doesn't mean I'd prefer something better. Just because I dislike the apple ipod, and have a zune, does not mean I hate apple. You've got problems if you think I do. Furthermore, did you see the entire paragraph i made of the reasons why I dislike the zune, or did you just skip that part to promote you ipod ego?
Religious people tend to gather up other people and enforce thier religion onto them. You may think it's amazing, but I disagree with you, and it's my choice, not yours. Got it?
June 30, 2009 at 11:50 am #29290MiiiitchMemberyeah we got apple fanboyism happening lol, the zune’s aren’t so bad both my cousin’s have one and i reckon they run pretty smooth.

ipod ego? lol
Im just trying to discuss here. Anyway, i have had a Zune, and i hated the damn thing. Mine had so many bugs, never did anything right. I understand you disagree, so im just saying that i disagree with you. I simply asked you if you hate apple, since in a thread where i talked about a iMac, you said Windows was better, and so forth.
i still dont really understand how the iTouch could exist without the touch feature. Maybe the music and web-browsing part, but most of the apps work well using the touch screen. Without it, it would defeat the purpose of the whole system, would it not?
I am a little bit of an apple fanboy, mainly because everything that they make is just excellent quality.
And Miiitch, it is the exact same thing as far as responsiveness goes. I really dont see your point. Maybe your iPod Touch was slow? But mine is super responsive, my cousins iPhone, has the exact same amount of responsiveness. I havent been able to tell the difference.
July 1, 2009 at 2:02 am #29333shadeblackParticipantthe ipod touch and phone are exactly the same, except one has the ability to phone people. the end.
i would never say the mac is worse. nor windows was or is better. I believe i said, it is better for me. just like what i said about the ipod v zune just now.
the question you 'asked' was somewhat rhetorical…
like i said before about the mobile phone… i think if they simplified it, it would possibly appeal to more people. I like simple things. I hate that i can't get a decent media player that works on STANDARD formats. PC standards are there for a reason. HTML for instance is possibly the most well known standard. The ipod officially only itunes. this is not a standard. the zune officially only uses the zune software (which is f'in' retarded). again, not a standard.
I can't find a decent media player anywhere!
July 1, 2009 at 5:50 pm #29341parnakasMembermy cell phone, Sony Ericson, actually is compatible with any software when i used to download music onto it.
I see what you are saying with software and whatnot, and it makes sense, because i love HTML. Simplicity is gone. Everything in the world has been made more complicated and more expensive. So if your trying to find something simplistic, good luck. I have iTunes, so the iPod products being ONLY compatible with iTunes does not really bother me. But i do see how it could piss others off.
Oh, i know there is a Samsung MP3 player can use a few different softwares, and the quality is not that bad. Maybe you should look into that?
July 1, 2009 at 7:12 pm #29349MiiiitchMemberOf course you don’t see my point parnakas because to you, your’s is the only one that matters, you may call it discussion i call it what it is though ignorance and the acts repeated by most on all forums on this site where others state there opinions. I’ve had my iPhone and iTouch for the same amount of time and one is less responsive ok simple(thats my opinion so i’m not saying yours is wrong at all so no need to shoot it down like you do with everyone else’s) i also personally know several others who’d say the same.
