after watching this i was so pissed off at these people's informed views on games
i would consider this even worse than some of the stuff fox news(lol news) broadcasts on games
stuff like this just show how there are people have no clue what games are and yet make up facts about them oh they are racist “oh really” and don't hear the voice of reason from the cvg editor gah
most politicians, tv show hosts have no idea about games or are outdated and the sad thing as they have the power over these thing count yourself lucky you don't live in Australia where one
politician michael atkinson has decided his opinion is mandatory for the rest of australia in opposing an R18 category for games this is what he believes games are like no kidding
“Their vote is hardly likely to hinge on the “right” to score gamer points on the computer screen by running down and killing pedestrians on the pavement, raping a mother and her two daughters, blowing onself up in a market, cutting people in half with large calibre shells, injecting drugs to win an athletics event or killing a prostitute to recover the fee one just paid her (Welcome to the world of R18+ computer games).”

March 20, 2010 at 3:31 pm #60041parnakasMemberlol People just seem to blame video games for everything, even though there is more shit on TV and in Movies that could easily have a bigger influence on people than video games.
March 20, 2010 at 3:42 pm #60043cpatersMemberthese people have no clue about video games nowdays. None of my friends have become affected by the issues brought up in this clip so why would anybody else. Its up to the parents as to whether their kids can play the games or not, not the companies that make them. They have exactly the same ratings as films and so there is no difference. Not every game is violent so there is plenty of choice for people that don't want violence. From this clip it shows that the whole ordiance doesn't know about video games as didn't clap Tim (CVG) once.
March 20, 2010 at 4:47 pm #60044Ratchet525Memberyeah its kinda bullshit. But that one guy that first talks has a point in the beginning.
March 20, 2010 at 8:46 pm #60046I773D33MABL3MemberIt's not often a simple video clip makes me want to kick in my TV but that little nugget of horsesh*t was more than a little infuriating.
I think the “interview” would be best described as an ambush. The CVG guy was under siege. He found himself in the awkward position of trying to make informed, rational, arguments to counter propaganda.
It just goes to show that it doesn't matter how fcucking stupid you are, if you shout loud enough and sound dramatic then you get taken seriously.
This pathetic brand of thinking comes from the same PTA led division of idiocy that thinks music inspires murder and suicide.
A child spends more time with their parents than games, music and movies rolled into one. They have more of an influence than anything else that child could ever come into contact with. But when a kid shoots his class-mates or throws himself off a bridge then it's those same parents leading the witch-hunt for a scapegoat.
Blame is easier than responsibility.

March 21, 2010 at 1:01 am #60052dizzel22MemberIf games like modern warfare 2 really turn people into violent maniac's who wanna kill people like they were Soap , then the world is in trouble .
I thought i would have heard something about the million's of people (including myself) going on this muderous rampage.
Or maybe games just don't make people violent
March 21, 2010 at 2:13 am #60055parnakasMemberAnd i would also like to point something else out.
Kids can NOT buy games rated Mature (17+) here in Canada, only their parent can get it for them.
SO whos fault is it that the kid playing? THE PARENTS for buying the damn game!

still the parents fault for not seeing what the game is and what happens once playing it proceeds
i wish that talk show had got david jaffe or cory barlog those guy would have decimated those panalists i can already see jaffe's reaction to that ladies view on games “what the Fcuk have you been playing and swearing ensures
hell even david cage or kojima would have been good confusing the shit out of everyone there
March 21, 2010 at 12:01 pm #60059christus11MemberWe all have to say well done to the guy from CVG, he was fighting against Alan (the host) that old hag and the audience.
I wish he had brought some DS's with Scribbulous, or what eva its called, or a Wii with Wii Sports to show everyone that there are plenty of child/family games
March 21, 2010 at 12:54 pm #60060Antony19MemberIf MW2 creates killers then we have about 10.000+ killers in this world.
Also there are two comments that i agree with them
1this is so ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** retarded, violence has been about way before games were about, way before films, were about. children are confronted with violence everyday, whether is a tv programme, the news or anything. the children from WW2 were exposed to death for many years, children of medivieveal times were exposed to violence for decades, the world we know has been built on violence. these old fags no nothing, im doing a games course and these fags know nothing, im with the dude on the far left.
2You know what annoys me most in life? When ignorant people talk about things they don't know
And something else the movies and news on TV show even more violence. And the worst the violence in TV is real. For exmaple they show murders, bombs and lot more. The guy from the computer games got into an ambush. And one more question the old lady and the man what to they know are they specialised in something.

What difference does that make?
They still have a choice of buying it or not. They can look at the game, see the 17+ thing, and realize that the game is aimed at a mature audience. They dont have to buy it, just because the kid is there.
March 21, 2010 at 6:28 pm #60066Doctor_RockMemberUgh. I could talk about this all day. Instead I'll bring up some key points.
Anyone remember all those child deaths in the 90's due to kids powerboming and piledriver'ing their younger brothers? That was pro wrestling's fault. There were suicides in the 1980's that was because of heavy metal. There were murders and suicides in the 60's that was because of rock and roll. I'm pretty sure scary movies and comic books were the devil's work in the 50's and 40's too, but I can't back that up.
Lazy parents are always going to find an excuse and that bs about games being interactive just drives me up the wall.
Tim gave some excellent points about the parental control, he even delivered an amazing counter when old man Titchmarsh said that movies were rated, but games weren't. While it could potentially be a big waste of money and resources I always thought that video games and some parental group pooled together to launch a website/weekly newsletter about the video games coming out, with details and rating of each game.
March 21, 2010 at 9:36 pm #60069monkeymoobsMemberI felt that was not a discussion but pure slander of the video games industry everything that Tim said was ignored and the audience clapped at alans bogus remarks about the censorship of video games saying they don't have age ratings. Cmon seriously do some research on the subject beforehand alan. But tbh we needn't worry the only people that watched it were us on youtube and OAPs who want some company from the TV as they waste away the final few years of their lives.
