Yeah, I thought you'd like that. Penn and Teller: Bullshit is a fantastic show full of gratuitous nudity and foul language, but in the process always raises good points on convoluted issues. Following is a link to an episode they did fully on the video games issue, and a warning that this is for mature audiences only. Cause I know all you guys are over 18 years old, right?

Also, I'm not entirely sure of the legality of the episode being posted on that website, so I claim I'm not responsible for you clicking on that. But you should totally watch it. PS: its a full half hour episode, watch the whole thing. The ending really makes the point.

March 25, 2010 at 6:33 pm #60220BigWoopMagazineMemberI'm glad you appreciate it. Ever since I saw this episode, I have been trying to get anyone interested in the topic to check it out. It presents the exact arguments I've been using for years, but with good examples, research, interviews, and humor injected into it. Its really a great show, Penn and Teller address many current social, political, and economic issues and they're pretty much no holds barred on it – and the great thing is that there is an episode where they address the idea of taking anything anyone says at face value. Don't just watch it and go “wow, those guys are right!”. Look it up for yourself, do some research, and confirm it. They did, but they make it a point to say, “Hey, we might be bullshitting you, so go try to prove us wrong if you're not sure.” Which is great, because a lot of the problem with our video game argument is that the majority of people arguing against it have never done any research, never played them to see how it effects themself as an individual, and simply sees a glimpse of the content leading them to the immediate assumption that this is horrible and evil. People that assume things and argue that the assumption is the truth are horrible and evil, even if they don't realize it. It happens entirely too often, and it needs to stop.
Off Topic Note – while this is one of my favorites since I am an avid video gamer, another favorite episode is where they address the eco concerns of our “energy crisis”, and point out that environmentalists arguing against nuclear power are simply flat out wrong. I talk to these environmentalists on the street on a regular basis, always pointing out that I will not donate money to their hypocritical cause due to their opposition of the true solution to clean energy. I find that most of them have never even given it a thought beyond “well Green Peace told me its bad, so it must be true”. Again, too many people have this attitude about too many issues. Please, if you have any interest in clean energy and the whole global warming issue, go watch that, and again – do research. The Episode is entitled “Nukes, Hybrids and Lesbians”: http://www.free-tv-video-online.info/player/megavideo.php?id=W5HPYP66 (Again, its a half hour long, but the critical part is the nuclear power, not so much the hybrids and lesbians. Also, profanity, nudity, etc, mature, you have been warned.)

March 30, 2010 at 12:26 am #60374Doc-BMemberIt's funny how he pronounces the game name's… The punctuation etc.
Also, I'm from the UK so can't really take Alan Titchmarsh or any show fronted by him seriously, lol…
Also – “A tsunami of violence to corrupt a generation” EPIC! lol…
It's like saying if 90% of smokers committed murder, your more likely to be a killer if you smoke. The only way you would go on to commit a serious crime because of a game/film/music it's because you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what is acceptable in modern society and what is not – They are unhinged anyway and look for something to blame…
