Calamity Trigger: A bit harder than I was expecting…

I was lured into picking up this game after a seeing a few vids on Youtube. It's a nice and very distinct little beat-em-up and the polish is testament to how much time and thought went into it.

The only problem is the fighting system. It's not bad or poorly planned in any way, I just can't get my head around it. I'm a fan of the Tekken series where I have four buttons that control a limb each. I can do a lot with those four buttons but the basics are nice and easy to grasp. 

Blazblue, on the other hand, assigns a kaleidoscope of moves to my four (not so) trusty buttons and even after spending several evenings with the game I'm still hammering the pad with no thought and almost never the same results on-screen!

I like the game and I want to stick with it so is there anyone that has played it and (even slightly) mastered it? I'm fighting in the dark with this one so any feedback would be a great help.
