Aye, but a Lvl 37 short-circuit Zeds Demise will soon make short work of a few zombies compared to a Lvl 7 flimsy machete for example… But unless your jumped by a group you should be ok, just remember to kick them over…
And i think it would be to easy if you were fighting enemies several Lvls below you… But i do get what your saying… Almost every game that includes Lvl'ing these days have scaling enemies…
The most fun i've had stabbing and chopping for a while
October 24, 2011 at 11:29 pm #70947scotty243MemberI only got to act 2 and what i had to say was the game is addicting but terrible at the same time. The story is terrible and it seems as if the main intro scene was to make up for the whole story. I'm going to end up buying the game but not for the $60 price tage, probably get it when it goes to $40. Oh was the online any good? Oh and did you guys like the campaign mode?
October 25, 2011 at 2:33 pm #70950Doc-BMemberThe online is fun, a little like Borderlands – Drop in/drop out… Although the lobby's can be a little sketchy at times…
As for the story… Well after playing through it several times I've still only got a slight idea about what caused the outbreak Something about a tribe eating old corpses and releasing a dormant virus… or something like that… I think
All i know is i had tons of fun chopping, shooting and bashing the sh!t out of everything in my path, and my only gripe was with the matchmaking really…
Much better than Dead Rising IMO…
November 14, 2011 at 5:44 pm #71121Doc-BMemberSo the third patch went live on the 9th i believe… With another healthy selection of fixes…
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-08-dead-island-ps3-360-patch-date-and-details
A whole host of things I'm sure could've helped… Even though i never found the game that challenging at any point… Might go back and hit Lvl 60 though… And the improved loot would've, i'm sure, saved a lot of pointless searching for rare weapons
So if anyone, Tommy, still has this and wants to start a new game at Lvl 50 give me a shout…

I'm also glad to mention that that DLC has finally been dated… It'll be available everywhere by the 23rd of November… http://www.shoptonews.net/2011/11/14/dead-island-bloodbath-arena-dated/
It has been a while though
Anyone even still playing this or planning to play the DLC??

I might pick this game up when it hits $30 or $40, but otherwise don't think I'll be playing it for a while.
November 14, 2011 at 11:45 pm #71129Seibei4211MemberBy the way, for anyone who had a corrupted save file (such as myself), the new patch will fix it. I mean, unless you legitimately corrupted it. But the whole thing where it corrupts if you had too many items is fixed. The new patch is pretty cool. Now that my save is back, I'll eventually go back to getting that Plat. That made me lose my momentum though. This is pretty much the game that should've been released on day one though.
November 15, 2011 at 3:58 am #71131gr8jrfanMemberUnless this game jumps out of my PS3 and starts blowing me, I’ll never forgive it for it’s day one glitchiness. I’m gladly going to take the power up rewards points I’ve earned for a PSN card and use it to buy Nightwing and Robin. I’ll gladly give my money to the masterful Rocksteady. They polish and test THEIR games.

It wasn't that bad… I honestly had no plroblems other than the online lobby matchmaking, and that was only the first few days…
Dead Island was pretty rough around the edges… And i know you lost your save data… But didn't you also buy Duke Nukem?? I wouldn't say Dead Island was a bad game?? It's a good game, but with, not so much now after the patches, some problems??
It's a shame the game did need all the patchwork, but it's def. one of the more enjoyable games i've played this year… And as i keep saying, it was way better than Dead Rising 2…
March 25, 2012 at 2:07 pm #71524I773D33MABL3MemberMyself and Mojo have been chugging away at this for a few weeks now, we only get a few hours in at the weekends so it's slow going.
So far we've been lucky with glitches, only a few freezes making life difficult.
The game is good fun but I'm not sure if I'd ever want to play it solo. The combat does get a bit repetetive and the rate that the weapons disintegrate is retarded. Also, the missions are a bit too generic and, like Doc, I haven't a notion of the storyline. I'm not even sure which characters are part of the main plot and which are just for sidequests.
Still, on co-op it's well worth the play and considering some of the review scores it got I was expecting something a lot worse. It's a pity that quite a lot of people would have been put off buying it by the day-one glitches that all seem to be fixed now.
March 25, 2012 at 5:32 pm #71527emdeepeeMemberHaven't got very far through this yet (about 6% of the story I think) and have yet to experience any of the problems that dogged it on release (thanks to the updates). Haven't tried co-op yet, may give it a shot some time this week.
April 3, 2012 at 11:42 am #71585I773D33MABL3MemberA couple of questions for the Dead Islanders out there.
For anyone that's finished the main quest, is it free roam afterwards or does the playthrough just end?
For the 'Rootin, Tootin, Lootin' trophy, do I have to get all five weapons with a single character or can I do it across multiple characters and playthroughs?
The same question for the 'There and Back again' trophy. One or multiple playthroughs/characters?
April 5, 2012 at 6:00 pm #71589Seibei4211MemberWhen you beat the game, it ends. You can start a New Game+ starting with any chapter you want though. And you can always jump around the chapters like that.
Most of the trophies can be gotten across multiple characters, including collectibles, so I'm guessing that you can get Rootin', Tootin', Lootin' like that, too. I'm not sure about if you can do that with There and Back Again though. It seems like it could be possible. It seems like you would just pick a main character to use, then explore the whole island with that person. I don't know why you'd pick different people to go to different parts of the island.
April 5, 2012 at 6:26 pm #71590I773D33MABL3MemberThanks for the info Seibie, I hadn't realised there was a new game+
And I wasn't going to pick different people to go to different parts of the island but during my first playthrough I'm sure I'll have missed one or two small areas and I was just wondering if I randomly wander through them on a second playthrough will they count towards the total.
April 7, 2012 at 11:07 am #71599gr8jrfanMemberAll locations must be done on a single character. I suggest uploading your saves to cloud in case you miss something. The point of no return is the end of Act 3 (It'll warn you) The last part of the game has 15 locations. Make sure you have all of them before crossing the point.
May 11, 2012 at 2:28 pm #71741I773D33MABL3MemberSo we finished our first playthrough (With all location, thanks to gr8jrfan and Finch) and both our characters are level 48 so we'll be starting New Game+ to hit the 50.
Apart from the trophies for playing with different people (accounts) we still need “Rootin, Tootin, Lootin”. Anyone got any hints that might make the search go smoother or are we just going to have to hope for a bit of luck?
