So I've just started into this beast (co-op) and on my first play-through I'm not too worried about the trophies but rather with getting to grips with what the game is going to throw at me.
However, I have perused the ould trophy list and some of them seem to lean towards the psychotic end of the trickiness scale.
I know a few of you guys are playing this (according to my friends list) and I was wondering how people are getting on with them? Has anyone completed a full play-through yet? And if so, can anyone confirm for me if the trophies are calculated across multiple play-throughs or just individual ones? Killing 72,000 zombies etc.
The feeling I'm getting from what I know of the game (so far) and from what I can gather from the trophy requirements is that some trophies might call for a play-through dedicated to unlocking each one.
October 16, 2010 at 2:06 am #67355Doc-BMemberAs far as i've read the only trophies that are multi play-through are the weapon, clothes and food trophies… The zombie kill, survor and psycho trophies are single play through related… But that's more of a simple G-R-I-N-D than you might think…
This was/is my plan for DR2
First game was simply getting through the game and solving all the case files and a bit of leveling up. I thought it was pretty rough during my first play, the psycho's kick ass!! I was determined to complete the facts without having to start from scratch with a higher start level other than 1… I managed but it was no easy task I got to 'Overtime' but got my ass handed to me so i started a new game around level 28, only killing around 2500. During my first game i mostly avoided zombie contact.
My second, and current play through I've killed most of the psycho's and went on a rescue spree, made much easier with my new and improved skills/level. I'm planning to finish 'Overtime' this time round as i hope I'll hit Lvl 50 (I'm 48 with a few case files left).
My third play through I'll complete the story again using a guide for a few of the collectable trophies that aren't weapon, food or clothes related. And check for any story related collectible objects/weapons so i don't have to play the story 4 times. Try and find the missing notebook entries.
Then a few playthroughs on 'free roam' mode to have a laugh and piss about killing zombies I printed off a weapons checklist so I'll start checking them as a go along. finally play co-op and try,get the TIR trophies and the Zombrex posters. When i get bored I'll use a guide to finish off the remaining trophies.

Unless you use a guide from the off then this is a 3+ play through game Like i said i thought my second game was WAY better than my first. Here are a few tips you may or may not know…
- You can only have 8 NPC's on the map at one time. This includes survivors, psychos, unmarked survivors and the guy in the mission that shows you the 'stores'.
- Mix your drinks – My fav is 'Pain killer' although 'Quick step' is well handy to have… You can mix food too but i haven't tried it yet.
- Guns are only good for survivors to use, and weapons you give them never deteriorate… They never take 'combo-weapons' and if you give them a decent weapon remember and swap it back or you'll lose it. Take a couple with you for psycho battles, the PP you get for killing a boss is still worth it even if a survivor dies in the process
- Use wheelchairs or those bin things to move quicker, i pick up and carry these through doors so i still have them to use on the other side
- A sledge hammer can clear a path through a swarm of zombies with ease. I suggest having one at all times.
- Save often
- There is a side quest called 'wilted flower' – DO THIS MISSION – It will unlock a brilliant time saving shortcut between malls.
- If a mission log sounds like a boss battle save.
- I read that the co-op completion trophy needs to be done in one setting otherwise it can glitch and won't unlock.
You'll learn what works for you as you play… It's a 'Marmite' game if you get me. The trophies ain't that hard just time consuming. If your playing co-op it should be easier
I got kill 10 psychos and rescue 50 survivors during my second game easy. It's a pain the first time round but the second you kick ass I'm looking forward to my first proper 'free-roam' game when you just ignore the first case file (katey needs Zombrex) and the rest don't need doing
The online TIR is balls, but some people like it… Good for getting money I've won 7/9 for the 'TK's fav.' trophy. It's possibly the one trophy that could keep me from the Plat I just gotta keep at it. I'm not sure how long the TIR MP will be populated for so I'd try and get those done first??

Any questions you don't just check the net for feel free to ask I wasn't sure about DR2 but it seems to have grown on me the more i play it.
October 17, 2010 at 2:25 am #67373GHOST305MemberThe only thing that bothers me are the online trophy. I always seem to get in a game where theres that one guy who play 24/7 non stop and completely owns the online event. I mean I'm decent at the online and have won 3/9 games.
@ Doc-B: What games are you missing for the trophy?

I was missing 'Ramsterball' and 'Bounty Hunter'.
Luckily i got the trophy earlier
For some reason It would always start with 'Zomboni' instead of RB when i needed and BH can be a bit of a pain to appear sometimes And then when i did get the rounds I'd lose and have to wait again I don't think I'll play much TIR now I've done it. IMO as a MP it's only 'ok'… And that's only if you don't need to win an event you might not see for another two shows
It did net me 2million+ so i guess that's a plus I prob. made it out to sound worse than it is? I would say it took me about 8hours+ to win all 9. With practice and a little luck you should get them eventually.
I'm just glad i've got the trophy now so i can 'bench it'(DR2) when Fallout:NV comes out without having to worry that the online 'dies'. Theoretically it's as good as Plat'd, lol

I will at some point need a co-op partner. I've heard you need to complete the game in one sitting to be sure to get the trophy.
October 17, 2010 at 1:21 pm #67376NinjacatMemberI've been playing this, and the trophies are steadily coming in, no problems there.
I just have a query.
Me and a friend are going for the co-op case files trophy, the one where you have to complete the case files with a friend. I started a new save, and invited him in, and I think we're just about to start case 3. The thing is, while we were playing I got the 10 survivors trophy, and he didn't. I thought it must have been because I had got s few on my other save, and then made it 10 while we were playing. I am yet to check how many we saved in that save file, but i'm sure it wasn't 10.So, do those trophies only go to the owner of the save? If so, it's a bit silly.
October 17, 2010 at 2:06 pm #67379PS3 TrophiesKeymasterIf you invite him it's only you who will be getting the trophies. So basically you guys need to play through it twice.

So, if we both completed the case files on my save, onlyI would get the co-op case files trophy?
October 17, 2010 at 3:28 pm #67385Doc-BMemberI'm pretty sure that if you play co-op from start to finish in one go you'll both get the co-op trophy… I've read on another site that if you had a save file where you have 8 survivors with you, you can load it and invite one of your friends and they'll get the trophy to? It works with some and not others, strange…
I can't verify any of this so it's all speculation really…
October 17, 2010 at 4:03 pm #67386DarkAssassin78Memberat the moment the 72,000 kills is getting on my nerves the quick way to get it. buy the hummer keys in another playthrough and save in an empty slot then go to that empty slot and restart the campaign run to one of the restaurants (sorry i forgot the name) pick up the 4×4 mag and just start running over all the zombies over in the platinum, silver strip. this trophy is super stressful bcz of how the ending is *SPOILER* if you dont do the story you will not be able to get the extra 24 hours at the end to run more zombies over *SPOILER* for example me im around the ending of day 3 and i only have around 45,000 kills and for me the game ends at the end of day 4 and if i don't get it. screw this platinum (haven't gotten a platinum since August)
October 17, 2010 at 7:25 pm #67392GHOST305MemberIll be more than happy to help with the co-op with anyone if they want to. just add me and mention that you need a co-op partner. I'm level 45 I believe right now.

Incorrect. I completed coop case files among with many other trophies in coop, and we both got the trophies.

Verified. I had it done for me. Tried to duplicate the save file but it didnt work. I did however dupe the Data Miner trophy, so I can give it to anyone. I can probably buy the SUV keys for a few people aswell.
October 21, 2010 at 3:52 am #67460I773D33MABL3MemberSo my first playthrough has come to an abrupt end. Was on one of the last case files and I finished a mission at the safe house with about twenty seconds to go and saved without realising the timer was going to continue onto the next mission. Balls…
I'm going to continue on for a bit and try towards some of the collectable related trophies. Then it's a restart.
I found the game a lot easier than I was expecting but I think that's because myself and Mojo are co-oping and having a person around to always whack any zombies that have grabbed you is a life-saver. Plus, we seem to have found a glitch where we can make combo weapons that never break. (When I've confirmed how I'll post it here) This is a serious boost to PP.
But the co-op is a little poor compared to other games. I don't have any issues because I'm the host but every time Mojo joins his kills are all reset and he loses any weapons he had. I can only assume his other stats get a similar treatment (except his rank) and that means that trophy-wise he gains nothing except any that he meets the requirements of in a single sitting.

The glitch may help towards your overall level, but its really going to get your nowhere when it comes to the higher levels. Phsycopaths and continuous replays, aswell as special zombie kill counts (1000,2000,3000 etc) are whats really going get you leveled up. Dont forget to roll a 7 with the 2 dice for 10,000PP at a time. And in the Palisades, slide down the slide for another 10,000PP. You can try farming that.
You also get quite a bit of PP on the last boss in The Facts, aswell as some for beating the last boss in Overtime (Considering you did the correct specifications to unlock it) Then once you beat the game you get more PP depending on the kills you get, gifts given to Katey, and your ending. It all adds up.
October 21, 2010 at 6:43 pm #67477Doc-BMemberI have a save file with 8 survivors… I helped my co-op partner get the trophy and a PP boost, I could just reload the save and invite my co-op partner over and over again till he hit 50.
Easy… At least 80'000PP each time, lol. I didn't though, i think people should play the game as was intended.
