Surprised this wasn't the actual launch trailer, much better.
March 7, 2013 at 7:27 pm #73018emdeepeeMemberA few new shots to make Scotty get excited in his tidy whities!

Interestingly, if you have a look on gamercards.net there are apparently 46 people who have already picked up all the DLC trophies for this

Can't wait to Pew! Pew! my way through this DLC!
March 8, 2013 at 6:40 am #73024gr8jrfanMemberI wasn't originally hyped for Awakened because the game started to feel like it was stretching along towards the later chapters, but this DLC looks like a step in the right direction. Unitologists who cut off their limbs and replace them with necromorph parts? Creepy… Nobody knows we're still alilve and where we are? Isaac starting to have hallucinations and not Carver this time? Awesome. So we're stranded in dead space with these Unitologist fcukos and Isaac's going batshit nuts. Also, the Brother Moons are awake! What's not to like?! Those DLC screens look like the first Dead Space, too!
Don't worry, be happy…
March 13, 2013 at 6:54 pm #73041emdeepeeMemberLooks like Scotty has anal raped me, with his fist, without Vaseline by making me spend £8 on a 90 minute story extension. FCUK YOU DENZEL!
March 14, 2013 at 12:27 am #73043scotty243Member***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** this drivel asinine piece of shit DLC. Who the ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** thought it would be a great idea to release a half-assed story “extension” for $9.99 for 1 ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** hour? WHO?! I finished the DLC twice in one sitting, with two different people, on Pure Survival. Oh, man. This just takes the cake as the ultimate insult from EA. The DLC is literally the ending for the game, nothing more and nothing less. With that, you expect to get some answers on how Isaac and Carver lived. Basically, ya' don't. Someone must've been taking a dump since this was literally the toilet paper they wiped their ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** asses with. I won't even lie, I threw up after finishing the DLC for the second time (however it was probably because of the dinner I ate ). Aw, man. I don't even have the words to describe or the dignity to organize and structure this – whatever this is I'm writing. Here's the rundown of Awakening, Isaac and Carver acknowledge how dumb the entire plot of Dead Space is, escape from Tau Volantis, Earth is being attacked by Moons, the END.
I even think the trailer for Awakening is actually longer than the main itself!
***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** YOU, EA.
@ Em
I got two servings of that!!
March 14, 2013 at 1:15 am #73046Seibei4211MemberEA released pointless DLC for a lot of money? It can't be… I won't believe it… Also, this is essentially how the DLC was for Dead Space 2. Except at least in that case it wasn't related to the story and had a cool ending sequence. But Dead Space 3 is worse than Dead Space 2, so it makes sense that the DS3 DLC is worse than the DS2 DLC, too. Didn't you buy the DLC just to get the 100% anyway? Why is it so infuriating that it was bad? I'm sure you expected it to be bad/short anyway. If you didn't, you surely should've.
March 14, 2013 at 1:38 am #73047scotty243Member@ Seibei
The cult didn't add anything to the game, whatsoever. It was literally thrown in there to have some point in creating this DLC to have ignorant mindless players to say how there was a point. Also, the fact that it is literally the ending of the game is just disgusting. To be quite honest, I actually thought this DLC would be something since the opening was quite likeable plus I (what later turned out to be Vergil's Downfall DLC, I mixed up) thought it would be 6 chapters long. With that, the DLC felt as if it was building towards something more… monumental? I should be a bit more optomistic since I didn't spend a damn thing on this (got it free with a $10 voucher ) however it's the fact that Dead Space 4 is cancelled, that there's really no point at all in releasing this DLC or the actual game itself.
I let my guard down on this
March 14, 2013 at 4:00 am #73048Seibei4211MemberDead Space 4 didn't get cancelled. That was all untrue, apparently. Anyway, I just don't see the point in getting mad at EA for something you should've seen coming. When Emperor Palpatine screws you over, you really only have yourself to blame for trusting him. I'll get the DLC eventually, knowing full well that it's gonna be whatever. There's a lot of DLC I'll get without thinking it's gonna be any good. I just want the 100%.
March 14, 2013 at 8:56 am #73049emdeepeeMember@ Scotty
Soooooo, your not gonna co-op Classic mode with me then?
FCUK YOU DENZEL

So the ones who don't care about every detail or have high expectations when they should be moderately low are the ignorant and mindless? Not that I've played this yet, it could be awful and it probably won't be great, but it seems to me like the ones who don't care about all that shit and rant about it are usually the people who have more fun with games nowadays? And c'mon, what happened to having fun?
March 19, 2013 at 3:26 am #73074gr8jrfanMemberSo after completing this waste of money, I'd say Denzel is 2/3rds correct. It was actually hilarious to see Isaac and Carver's “Real Fan Reactions to Dead Space 3″. The cult was indeed, pointless, and I honestly wonder why anyone would be motivated to spare the leader with what little information they had on him. The fight between Carver and Isaac was flaccid and disapointing. It could've been really awesome if the victor actually killed the loser, but Visceral have already shown that they don't have the BALLS to kill Isaac.. or Carver. The ending is of course, totally sequel based and expected, but I didn't expect any more.
But other than the story gripes and the shortage of content per dollar, this wasn't actually a DLC that was horrible to play. In fact, I felt that it tried a lot harder than the main game to actually scare you. If the entirety of DS3 was similar to all the hallucinations and jump scares and whatnot, it probably wouldn't have been so lame on a survival-horror level.
Long story short, Awakened is a waste of $10, but I've definitely bought worse $10 “expansions” that were even shorter and just dreadfull all around. Let's hope that Dead Space 4 tries a little bit harder with atmosphere, powerlessness, and overall creepiness if it ever hits shelves in the future. They were on to something with Awakened, it just wasn't all there.
