Well, it has FINALLY been announced (officially). A new Devil May Cry is coming courtesy of Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West developer, Ninja Theory. It will NOT be the fifth title in the franchise, though. Instead, it will be a relaunch of the series with a new story and a newly redesigned Dante. Personally, I have mixed feelings about this. I don't think Devil May Cry needed a relaunch. All it really needed was a good solid boost from a grade-A developer. If there's any Capcom franchise in need of a relaunch, it's Resident Evil. That game doesn't even feature zombies anymore.

To me, the first Devil May Cry was an amazing action game. It was tons of fun with a great story and awesome lead characters in Dante and Trish. The second game was one of my most anticipated sequels ever and it ended up being a huge pile of crap. The third game was WAY too difficult for me to even enjoy, and the fourth game, while being my favourite since the original, annoyed me to death because of the character Nero.

I'm happy that a new title is coming and that Ninja Theory is at the helm (even though I'm still majorly on the fence with Enslaved), but I can't help thinking that the essence of what made Dante so cool in the first place may be lost in this relaunch. I will say this, though; Ninja Theory is at the near-top of the industry when it comes to voice acting and motion capturing, so I'm feeling pretty reassured when it comes to that.

Good it looks awesome although i havent play any of the games of the series i have heard very good words about it so i am looking foward to it

I agree with you, man: Devil May Cry is all about gameplay. ALL. ABOUT. GAMEPLAY. DMC3 is enough to prove my statement. I've seen the trailer and while I don't care about a “new Dante, new story” thing, I'd like the gameplay to be just what it is: fast-paced action and a lot of variety in weapons, enemies etc. If Ninja Theory changes this, Capcom can kiss their franchise goodbye.

I do like the weapon Dante has, though. We might have the ability to do crazy combos with that SOB.
