This movie is a joke. Save your money. You hardly ever see any prawns…kinda like Cloverfield. There are supposed to be like 2 million of these things yet you only ever see 2 of them at the most on screen. The whole premise of the thing is off as well. Here is a summary:
The goofy reporter guy ends up slowly turning into a Prawn after accidentally spraying himself with this special fuel. He is then tortured as he is the only human that can use the alien weapons. After escaping from the base/lab, He hides out in 'District 9' and learns that he can be turned back into a human if he gets the 'fuel' back from the base/lab. He is successful in doing this but in the process the prawn finds out that his species is being tortured. He tells the human that he cant change him back for 3 years as he needs to get his people out of district 9. The human then hijacks the ship and crashes it by accident. Just when you think all hope is lost he ends up becoming friends with the prawns and then helps the prawn and his son escape back into the 'mothership'. The 'prawn' says he'll come back to earth in 3 years to turn him back into a human.
