I'm not sure if this is even relevant to anyone anymore, but I've thought of an easy, time effective way to get through the larger tournaments on the Moxxi DLC for Borderlands solo style… I'm also not aware if this info is common knowledge on the Internet, or just plain obvious. I'm just trying to help…
I bought the 2nd DLC not really knowing what it was, simply because the first was pretty good. I enjoyed the smaller tournaments but found the larger simply grinding to death, they can take ages. After a few failed attempts (both online and off for various reasons) sapping any drive to actually get them finished, i left them be… But on finishing the Knoxx DLC i once again turned to the dreaded larger tournaments, but it was i doing so online that i realised the easy way to do this…
All you need is two controllers, and a little patience…
The enemies in the DLC are only as high or a little higher than the player one profile char. stats… Start a new split screen game and set profile one to a low lever new char. from your saves, on play-through 1. And profile 2 as your main game char. (high as poss) and travel to the Underdome. You will prob. have to play through the smaller tournaments, but all enemies are very low level. I used a char. at level 8 for P1, and the enemies were only level 12. Using my level 61 siren i pretty much walked through every enemy on the go. You simply leave controller one sitting and get on with the trophy.
Even on round 20 with all the game modifiers against you, you'll breeze even the hoard wave… Just have a decent shotgun. Doing this it should only take you a couple of hours for all 20 rounds with breaks…
This is for the benefit of anyone sitting with one or more of the Moxxi trophies spoiling your 100%, simply because your lazy (as am I) or don't have the needed friend list. This is a fail safe way to get any silvers and the gold by yourself.
Like i said sorry if this is old news, hope it can help someone…

Thanks for the info Doc, I've tried these tournaments several times and each time I give up through boredom more than inability to progress. I've had them glitch on me a few times and nothing saps the will to try again more than getting screwed by the game itself.
The last time I did them with my brother, we got to round 14 but at round ten the consoles didn't sync properly and the enemies stopped appearing on his screen. They could still shoot him and he could shoot them (despite their invisibility and the fact that his bullets and grenades were also visually AWOL) but it made it a Hell of a lot harder. He had to use my screen and if I wasn't looking at something he got ambushed.
I absolutely love this game and while I don't like the idea of taking the easy route, I've given these tournaments more time than they deserve already.
May 11, 2010 at 1:51 am #61842Doc-BMemberI got the “invisibility” glitch with an American (I'm UK) Sunday night… On the 11 round after about 90min playing, left to try and sort it by joining again and couldn't get in… The game said we were both online but it wouldn't let me join or him invite. And it was about 1.30am Monday morning I'd stayed up till for nothing…
P!ssed off to the max or what?! Lol… Gotta laugh… I also had another player let me play about 6 rounds then kick me for “a mate” one time. Very annoying to say the least.
But it did make me realise the above… He was a level 45 char. and the enemies were 47-49 or something, and offline MP is pretty similar to online MP with regards to the profile/quest and the way the game plays… Thought it would work. I just played all the smaller and one of the larger tournaments in about 6 hours, BOOST!
I'd like to add that i don't always look to exploit a game to make it easier (not that i feel like I773D33MABL3 was having a dig, i agree with him)… This was an idea bourne of frustration more than anything…
May 11, 2010 at 1:11 pm #61848Antony19MemberWell thank you a lot i have stop playing the DLC beacuase of the larger tournaments. I hate when a lose and i go on round behind. Thank for the info it was very helpfull I try it with my LV2 Berskerer and it has very fun my CH was lv 51.
May 11, 2010 at 11:01 pm #61857parnakasMemberSeems like it would be common sense, but i doubt anyone really thought of it.
Thanks for the tips man!!!
May 12, 2010 at 12:37 am #61860Doc-BMemberI would also add that you must complete all 3 larger tournaments on one profile… I've just finished the last of the 3 (One completed on play-through 2 online, and two completed offline the above mentioned way) thus gaining all 3 silver trophies for completing the individual tournament but not the gold for the combined three.
Or at least i hope thats how it works or i just got bumped… But from what i can gather from the game save/play-through mechanics i should get it from the fourth and final 100 waves i kill
I always seem to get my trophies the hard way, i must have played near 650 waves combined… Def. got my moneys worth from this DLC however much i didn't want it, lol…
May 12, 2010 at 1:47 am #61862I773D33MABL3MemberWhat do you mean by one profile? Do they all have to be completed on the same playthrough or with the same character?

May 12, 2010 at 9:37 pm #61868ZanatosMemberThis is what me and my friends did, but we had 4 people. 3 of us were at level 50 and 1 was at like level 8 (lowest allowable) Everything we fought was in the mid 20s, it was easy and we had ppl to talk to. Still takes time tho

It must be done with the same char. on the same play-through… Just got my gold and I'm back to 100%
As far as the trophies are concerned, play-throughs 1 and 2 are counted as separate, even with the same char. And even though i had completed one of the larger tournaments on play-through 2 (and two on play-through 1), i still had to re-play it on play-through 1 for the game to accept I'd done all 3 and give me the trophy
Thank fok that's finished with, Borderlands G-R-I-N-D (R.I.P)
