Here is a thread to discuss the new season in all it's glory and disappointment.
I seriously can't believe that Spurs (as of wendesday) are at the top of the table..

I can't help it, I've been a spurs fan since I was 5…
August 21, 2009 at 3:10 pm #39345KnoxieMemberyep spurs have had a truely amazing start and i said they'll come 5th, jermain defoe and robbie keane this season will OWN and be the best pair in attack imo!
but it will go like this i think:
1st Arsenal
2nd Chelsea
3rd Man Utd
4th Liverpool
5th Tottenham
6th Man City
For relegation, well, i see no way out for portsmouth, hull and wolves but everton wont get anywhere this season either imo.
and as for the championship, newcastle will come first then the boro i think but newcastle to win easy and ameobi to be top goalscorer 😛 😛 lol

What usually annoys me about spurs, is they have the players to do well, but for some reason useually it doesn't turn out the way it should.

August 21, 2009 at 3:36 pm #39362pool96MemberNormally at the begining of the season you see a team that you don't expect near the top of the table (remember Hull last year???). I personally think it's going to be unbelievably close at the top of the table come May but I don't agree with Knoxie that Arsenal will win it or that Liverpool will come fourth. Despite losing at White Hart Lane I was delighted with the teams performance against Stoke. Especially Benayoun and Johnson has made a great start to his Liverpool career.
Tottenham I think will do well but still don't convince me that they have enough to get into the top four. Even though they did beat Liverpool we just weren't good enough and one of Tottenham's goals was a once a season goal. Very lucky when you get them type of goals.
btw. Rio Ferdinand = INJURED
August 21, 2009 at 3:47 pm #39374KnoxieMemberliverpool arent the same without xabi alonso loads are saying and i definetly agree with that, lucas just isnt good enough at all.
and for arsenal, they are DESTROYING every team atm, everton and celtic to name a couple and i dont see anyone beating them this season except maybe at stamford bridge.

I don't understand this at all. Manchester United lost Cristiano Ronaldo – Their best player and Carlos Tevez – maybe 3rd best and nobody says anything. Xabi Alonso was about our 5th best player and every is acting like it's the end of the world. If you don't agree with me think about it.
1. Steven Gerrard
2. Fernando Torres
3. Jamie Carragher
4. Pepe Reina
5. Xabi Alonso OR Javier Mascherano
btw. I think Lucas has had a brilliant Pre-season and played excellently against Stoke. And you never know when Aquilani is fit he could be bloody brilliant.
August 21, 2009 at 3:59 pm #39384KnoxieMemberyes i know he may not have been the best player but he was NEEDED and BLENDED in perfectly with the liverpool team, not to mention how good and accurate his short and long passing is as welll as his brilliant long shots and crosses are.
i wouldnt say tevez was there 3rd best.
1st was ronaldo (im happy hes gone)
2nd rooney
3rd ferdianand
4th evra
5th giggs
6th tevez
August 21, 2009 at 4:34 pm #39406NinjaMidgetMemberI suppose its up to me to bring the man utd support to this discussion. Yeah ronaldo was the best player last season (im also happy he's gone even though i'm a utd fan!), but what tevez lacked with his sometimes silly mistakes he made up for in sheer determination, theres no-one in the premiership that can match that!! I agree with redbren, whilst i loved it when Liverpool lost to spurs on sunday (sorry redbren) they dominated in the last 20 minutes and were just unlucky they didn't break through!
Evra I think is one of the most underated defenders in the game, he craps all over ashley cole and I rarely see a mistake coming from him!
Just because arsenal start out so brilliantly doesn't mean they're going to dominate, they do that at the start of every season, they destroy everything in their path then screw up towards the end!! I'm undecided about whos coming top, I just hope it's and exciting season with more than just the two teams vying for the top position like it has been for the past 3 years!!!
August 21, 2009 at 6:10 pm #39416iiDiNkStErRMemberI didnt rate tevez highly at all. He was there as a striker to score goals & had a worse goal average than cico (macheda). I'm glad the fat bastard went & im also glad ronaldo went. If he didnt, we would've seen a miserable little pretty boy sulking about til' he got what he wanted. I still like ronaldo tho, unlike that argentinian C***
August 21, 2009 at 7:16 pm #39428KnoxieMemberLMFAO, dinkys having a badboy sesh!!!!
anyways while i agree evra is underrated i dont agree with ninja about arsenal… to me they look a totally different team and arent making any mistakes like they made alot of last season. and as ever theyre amazingly calm accurate slow tempo passing game is working for them.
and tevez, i thought he was a good player, he just didnt get a real chance and they played berbatov in front of him (hes the lazy one and has no motivation at all since he went to man utd, e.g when he took the penalty against everton in the semi final a while back) which i think they shouldnt of as tevez is better imo and he works a hell of alot more but hes been forced out now. u can tell manu are missing ronaldo when they were playing burnley coz if ronaldo was still there we would have seen him bring them out of the sh*t with a wondergoal or a 40yard free-kick.
August 21, 2009 at 7:22 pm #39430Mod5.0MemberI feel so left out….
