I'm looking forward to some quality signings that Martin Jol has promised us now! So relieved Hughes left, was pretty obvious he didn't have the heart for us and with him being a former Chelsea player it was hard for fans to take to him. But now Jol is in hopefully he'll give us a more dynamic edge wouldn't mind if he went back in for Osvaldo either! Certainly an exicting summer for transfers lined up.
June 11, 2011 at 2:57 pm #69939KnoxieMemberFirst signing of the season completed for us: Yohan Cabaye. It really is apparent why he left Lille, with players like Gervinho and Hazard also tipped to leave, they have no chance of replicating their cup double success. Coming to a team with a cracking and large fanbase, with a brilliant stadium and city I don't blame him. We're on our way up now, up the toon, bring in a left back, centre back, winger and striker now Pards!
June 16, 2011 at 4:29 pm #69961KnoxieMemberBye bye to the chicken dance!! Nobby sold for a fee believed to be in the region of £3-4m just because we wouldn't give him a £55k p/w contract for 5 years while he would most likely sit on the bench for the remaining 3. Personally I'm gutted as I don't wanna know what'll happen to the team spirit as his leadership skills were key as captain! Also, I hope him leaving won't effect the decisions of other players (namely Colo, Enrique, Jonas and Barton). Anyways, good luck to him at West Ham, I'm sure he'll lead them back into the PL as he's that good for the Champo.
On the other hand, Ba is set to join us IF he passes a medical. Bit worried about his knee but nevertheless on a free he would be a great signing. Just hope we get Gardner, N.Taylor, Erding, N'Zogbia/Barnetta and Matuidi now!!

Looks like spurs are gonna have another Berbatov situation. Modric has stated that he wants to move to a bigger club. (One that could triple his wages) I never thought someone like him would be in it for the money. Just goes to show that money comes first in football! He also said that he would not hand in a transfer request. Probably because if he does, he won't get his part of the money from his transfer fee.
Oh well, at least we've got Brad Friedel from a free transfer!
July 15, 2011 at 10:43 pm #70261KnoxieMemberIt's laughable how some PL teams are doing in pre-season already! Liverpool only just won and my god Fulham were mediocre with a strong team.
The Toon are currently 2-0 up away to Darlington, with Barton and Sammy Ameobi providing the goals. Things heated up 60 mins into the game with a pitch invasion, disgraceful!

I can't understand why ye wasted your time on Friedel. He might have been free but he's on the way out career-wise and it was the perfect time to invest in a decent keeper. I honestly think Shay Given would have been the better option. One of the best keepers in Europe rotting on the bench at City, it's a joke.
@Knoxie
I can see Liverpool having a much harder time next season than they think. They had a good run with Kenny but it started to come apart at the end and there's no way they're going to get similar results to some of their wins last season. They played well but the opposition made them look good (United collapse etc.). Maxi-pad had a bit of a flourish but he's still a mediocre player.
And Fulham (another team that rolled over and allowed themselves to be fcuked by Liverpool) are all over the place. At times they looked like they were striving for fifth or sixth on the table and other weeks like they were just happy to be in the League at all. Turn up, concede, go home.
July 16, 2011 at 9:36 am #70264emdeepeeMemberToffee’s were 4-0 up against Bury at half time but took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half. Just seen the pitch invasion from Newcastle game on sky sports news. Really not good!!!!

It was embarrassing. The fans were singing 'if Sammy scores, we're on the pitch!' and people took it literally and invaded it. :/
Tbf though it was only 300 of the 6000 travelling Newcastle fans so not all of them can be condemned for this.
On another note, Barton needs a new deal!! He even stopped some of the fighting on the pitch!
July 27, 2011 at 11:30 pm #70315emdeepeeMemberOnce again Everton continue to set the summer ablaze by signing…………………..oh nobody!!!!!! I really don’t know whats going on in Kenwrights head if he thinks this is acceptable. We were linked with the return of James McFcuking McFadden yesterday!!!!!!! Considering how we’ve over performed over the last few years it makes you wonder what Moyes could achieve if he was given some money.
July 29, 2011 at 7:21 pm #70166iiDiNkStErRMemberQuite surprised Fulham have signed a few younger players, but it's about time we did with the oldest squad in the league! Gecov and Kasami look like good midfielders, I just hope they can take over the reigns of Murphy, Etuhu and co.
Our Europa League campaign has been ok so far too, good couple of wins and some decent showings from some of our younger players like Frei and Briggs.
Hope we beat RNK Split in our 2nd leg and I hope Stoke manage to get through to the group stages, the more English teams the better.

Lol, I actually feel sorry for everton fans. And I thought spurs were doing bad in this transfer window! At least we get linked with every player who is suddenly made available.

I can see Moyes leaving us at the end of this season out of pure frustration and to be honest I wouldn’t blame him. I don’t expect us to get backed by some ridiculously wealthy billionaire but we should at least be competitive in the transfer market.
July 31, 2011 at 2:20 pm #70333KnoxieMemberToon linked with Beckford haha, I wouldn't have him plus yous need him more than us!

Remind me again where you finished last season 😉
All joking aside though he isn’t a terrible (and he scored one of the goals of the season in the last game against Chelsea). He’s done better for us than Jo did so I’d be happy to give him another season to prove himself.
