A collectors edition has been announced by Bethesda, here is what your getting…
- Seven “Lucky 7″ poker chips, each chip representing one of the major casinos along the main strip and around the Mojave dunes.
- A “Lucky 38″ chip (made to look like a Platinum coated quest item found in game).
- A themed deck of playing cards, featuring lots of character art from the game. There's also a rule-set for a game called 'Caravan'. A completely new game created for New Vegas, also featuring in the game itself.
- The hardback graphic novel “All Roads” which acts as a prequel to the game (It's written by some of the folks at Dark Horse comics).
- A making of DVD with stacks of behind the scenes footage and new interviews from Obsidian and Bethesda.

Nothing as cool as the pip-boy Bobblehead, but I'll still be getting this… I think this game is gonna be what everyone wanted Fallout 3 to be, and were disappointed it wasn't. The team behind it has had more time to work with the Ps3 and say they've sorted a lot of the “bugs”.
Larry Liberty (Lead Producer)
The engine itself was first used in Oblivion first, then moved over to Fallout, so i don't think the engine was made to be a Ps3 engine from the beginning. It has been a challenge, but it works well now, especially with the new libraries that help to enhance performance. (PSM3 mag.)
With the addition of…
Weapon upgrades; Three per weapon, cannot be removed and reused, and apparently having a noticeable change to the look of the weapon… Along with all “special weapons” looking diff. to the standard version and some having a special V.A.T.S attack.
The Reputation status; No more skipping time a few days and going back to a town you “accidentally” shot someone in the back of the head, lol. You will actually have to work to get back into NPC's ”good books”
Less browns, more greens… New and tougher enemies… More “interactive” locations… Gambling… A Better story (hopefully) – Your a Courier, shot twice in the head and left to die at the side of the road… I can think of at least a dozen questions to ask just from that short sentence.
And oh yeah, “Hardcore Mode” – Firstly, kog, are you kidding me man? One thing i didn't like about fallout, besides all the lag/bugs/problems, is how it didn't really feel that RPG'ish… I didn't really feel a connection with the char. as such… All i had to do was push a button to heal occasionally.
Bethesda should have called it “RPG mode” – Having to eat/drink/sleep, for me, will make me “feel” much more like I am the char. Having to manage my ammo/food/misc. weight will add to the realism of the Fallout world. For me, in a RPG weight is something i manage closely anyway, so in Fallout 3 I always had masses of empty space. I think a few of the ideas were brought to light through people modding the game, and it's pretty cool of them to factor those elements into the game.
It might make it a fraction harder but not overall.
Hardcore mode will be awesome!! As will the game!!
I can't wait for this, i put so much time into Fallout 3… I'm so hyped for this game, more than words could express, so i won't try…

June 19, 2010 at 3:27 pm #62784Doc-BMember@ kog – I can't seem to find a UK version anywhere… And trust me I've looked, lol… There's also gonna be a trophy for “Harcore aka RPG mode”- Gold i'd imagine
I could only find a listing on Amazon(dot)com, but the DVD wouldn't be PAL 🙁 The thing to remember though is the game ain't out for about 5 months yet, so the CE won't be available for pre-order until they start producing them. I'm guessing September or something?
Also, if you ain't getting the CE (shame on you) there are diff. game unlocks depending on where you pre-order.

Whenever i get any worthwhile new info I'll post it here
June 26, 2010 at 4:13 pm #62960Doc-BMemberI know this says it's the PC trailer but it shows a decent amount of in game footage… And everything you see here will be included in the Ps3 version anyway… Enjoy…
June 26, 2010 at 10:02 pm #62968NinjacatMemberAs much as I am looking forward to this game, I can't help but think it just looks like a big expansion for Fallout 3.
I mean, I know they are, in essence, the same game but a different setting, but because of the lack of solid gameplay footage, I can't see any drastic changes.

I'm not really sure as to what you mean by “drastic changes” – In post #16 i mention some of the major changes coming with the game and Fallout: NV was never going to get super glossy visuals because of the sheer amount of content within the game. I would say the “drastic changes” will be more with how the game runs on Ps3… IMO Fallout 3 was very buggy, annoyingly so.
Remember, Fallout: NV is set only 3 years after Fallout 3 and about 2421 miles away… IMO, the two games shouldn't really feel that different to play. I'm not sure how much you could change the Fallout universe…
Couldn't you argue that most sequals could be called “big expansion packs”?
June 27, 2010 at 5:39 pm #63046NinjacatMemberI see what you mean Doc.
I'm not saying there aren't big changes to the game, of course there is. I just can't really see any from what I've seen in trailers and the little gameplay I've seen. I suppose if it runs well, then that's enough for me. I loved Fallout 3, huge changes might spoil the feeling. Some parts of Fallout 3 could have squeezed a tear out of me. Like, the remains of a building with nothing but a lone teddy bear amongst the rubble. It made me think how eventually, the whole world will probably look like The Wastes.
But, yeah. I like the small changes they're doing, e.g new weapons, a new setting and of course, a new storyline. I just thought, what with Bethesda absent from the development of the game, it'd feel a little different. Who knows, it might. We'll have to wait and see how it feels to play.
Most games could be called an expansion to the previous game, but they're always more different than the last. I mean, COD for example, the HUGE setting change really mixed the game up, gave something new into the series, and having 2 devs gave more variety across the different games. I thought the same would happen here, but from what I've seen NV looks too similar to Fallout 3. But will the final product be the same as the prequel?
I'll drop a cliche on my way out; only time will tell.
June 27, 2010 at 6:05 pm #63051monkeymoobsMemberI hope hardcore mode isn't going to be put 10,000 bullets into a bad guy to kill them like if you put Fallout 3 on very hard cos that'll be crap and put me off bothering to go for platinum.
June 27, 2010 at 6:13 pm #63054The GeneralMemberI don't really have a problem with difficulty trophies being added. I hate the excessive requirements for some online trophies most games have or are getting (that 1 in modnation really has me not wanting to get it).
Regarding changes for the new one, I don't think they really need to change much. I wasn't going to buy Fallout 3, but it came free with LBP when I bought it, and I really enjoyed it. It did have some glitches, but considering how big the game was, there weren't very many (note- I didn't play the GOTY version… that one is reportedly FILLED with glitches).

Hardcore doesn't effect the difficulty of the level your playing at… It's not a difficulty setting it's a “game mode” – I think it's mentioned but it will only add an aspect of realism to the Fallout world. Bullets will cost weight, you'll have to sleep and drink, stimpaks will heal over time…
I don't think it will add a great deal of difficulty if you're familiar with the fallout world… It just means for the first half of the game you won't be able to collect a heap of junk…

I'd say it wasn't the number of individual glitches, just how often the glitches occurred (freezing, frame rate dropping pretty much)… Plus my laser died when i was playing the game, so i blame Fallout for that one too
Some info on the graphic novel included in the SE – http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/110/1107292p1.html
July 28, 2010 at 3:26 pm #64387tommyflopMemberI'm currently going thru the dlc via the goty edition and HELL YEAH it freezes like a virgin when you put your hand up her skirt. Damned annoying and if it wasn't such a brilliant game i'd have snapped it in half long ago. So for me, all vegas has to do is run smoothly and not change too much then i'll be over the moon. A few new weapons and enemies will do me just fine. And doc, “about 2421 miles?” jeez i'd hate to see you being accurate lol.
July 28, 2010 at 10:08 pm #64406Antony19MemberWell one litle chance that i have seen in ign preview is that you can aim down the sights.
