This game has more glitches than mw2 and mercs2 combined :/
No it doesn't.
Have u played it it froze on me twice in an hour 2day
i've played the PC version for a good 3 hours.
I've heard that the PC version is a lot less glitcher than the consoles so yea.. i guess that was it
October 26, 2010 at 8:39 am #67603Seibei4211MemberIf you guys are waiting for a patch so it'll freeze less and stopped having so many periods of slowed framerate, you can probably just not bother. Those are two things that will probably never improve. I played Fallout 3 months after it first came out and it had the same technical problems that this one has right now. They might fix some stuff, but probably nothing too hardcore or technical. This game still functions and when it does, it's pretty awesome. But hey, if they somehow do manage to patch this and make it run better, I won't complain. You're better off assuming that won't happen though.

Something interesting happened this morning. I started the game and have the DL for it. I went to choose my Weathered 10mm pistol and instead I pull out a giant red diamond with an exclamation mark in the middle of it and i mean BIG. We're talking the size of my entire body. Funny part is…I can still kill people with it! but my screen gets a red haze to it when i aim.
That sounds like the game couldn't find the file with the gun's skin and instead threw out some default 'unknown item' image instead. I think (and I'm guessing here so I could be talking through my ass) that the devs us it to easily spot a file that isn't being loaded properly. I know in Dawn of War for the PC if someone created a map but used modded decals/skins that I didn't have on my computer then it turned up as a neon pink box with a question mark in it.

What would 'people' say is a save level to allow your stats to fall? I've been keeping everything below 100…
What do you mean by allowing them to fall?
Perhaps 'fall' wasn't the best word… Seeing as the Numbers go up rather than down, lol
I used the word fall because i was thinking even though the number goes up it still relates to deterioration in stats… Zero being the optimal No. so +1 becomes a negative(hence 'fall' in) stat(s).
Anyway… I meant what's the longest someone has waited(0-1000) to eat/drink/sleep without having to really worry about it? If i could wait till nearer the 500+ mark without needing to eat/drink/sleep without it having any real impact on the game, i could prob. get a lot more done in the time i play…
October 26, 2010 at 5:22 pm #67612Seibei4211MemberWell, your stats don't get affected until any one of the three stats reaches 200, just like rads, and you won't die until you hit 1,000, just like rads. The only thing you have to even remotely check on every now and then is water. If you have the Gamestop Vault 13 Canteen thing though, you get to worry about it even less. So as long as you're ok with -1 END, you could wait until 400. You'll get a warning if you breach the 200 mark, though, so you could just wait for that, too.
October 27, 2010 at 9:15 am #67632Oz-MetalheadMemberI thought i'd mention that healing your companions with stimpaks doesn't count for the trophy. I thought it did because i had 19 points healed using stimpaks on my stats without having used any somehow. But then i used more stimpaks on my companions and it didn't count.
Also a tip…..###SPOILER###
Once you have found 'Mojave Outpost' which is in the south western part of the map, you can rack up your caps easily.
You will need a few thousand caps to start. A good place to get them is the energy weapons shop in Freeside (New Vegas). You can use R3 to pick up the expensive weapons and take them to a quiet spot to get hidden and steal them then sell them back to the shop.
Go talk to the man in Mojave outpost who has a repair skill of 100! Get him to repair any weapon or armor to max. You can then sneak up behind him and steal your caps back. Then just sell the weapons you repaired for a profit.
I keep doing this with any high tiered weapon or armor that has good resell value for a major profit. My sneak is at 50 and usually only takes a few reloads to get a successful pickpocket. It get's harder the more caps he has i think.
###END SPOILER###
Also does anyone know where i take my star bottle caps?

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. You think maybe redownloading the DLC may write over the glitched file? I'm afraid that if i delete it the game wont let me use my code again.
I'm also stuck on the Star Bottle caps as well OZ
October 28, 2010 at 1:00 am #67664Seibei4211MemberWhere to bring the star bottle caps:
Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters. It's just to the west of the strip on the outside. Like if you've discovered the NCR Sharecropper Farm or whatever, it would be exactly on the opposite side of that. You have to talk to this creepy cowboy thing in there named Festus.
I can't give a lot of detail about it though, cause I haven't been there yet and I don't have 50 yet. I just looked it up in the guide cause lots of people ask this question.
October 28, 2010 at 1:05 am #67667I773D33MABL3MemberYou shouldn't have to use your code again. Just go into your download list in account management and re-download it

I'm gonna try it tonight. I'm gonna miss that overgrown Exclamation mark on my back though lol

Thanks for that, i have 30 atm 🙂
November 2, 2010 at 6:32 pm #67773Doc-BMemberSo… I am i the only person who just isn't 'feeling' this as much as F3 then?
I'm not sure if it might be 'Hardcore' mode, but i just don't seem to have 'caught the bug'… I just don't think the Mojave desert can stand up against 'the wastelands'?
TBH i think i preferred the dark, empty, grey and 'unknown' of the wastes, and I'd say the story was played out better in F3 also. When i played F3 the 'side quests' just seemed to blend into me finding the facts of the main story, it all seemed one fluid game. Once you get to 'The Strip' and talk to Mr. House you pretty much know 99% of the story… I hope there will be a couple of twists in the story but i'd imagine that's pretty much it. The side quests don't seem as natural to the game
The trophies are better (longer) and give a chance of a replay with a diff. char. build but after playing a game for 100h+ and then starting again from scratch can be rather boring… Demons Souls was awesome as it let you start a new game with all your equipment and stats, meaning the game only got better the more you played it… Meaning you wanted to play it more and more…
I'd have to agree with Ninja and say this does just feel like an expansion pack from F3, with a few new ideas and also it's own set of new problems… Never in F3 did i see a bunch of NPC's 'clump together, never have a got stuck in the scenery as much and my favorite 'glitch' so far must be when my companion Rex, who i'd left a million miles away turned up in a Vault i was exploring out of the blue??
This needed to feel new and better, but IMO it's almost a step down from my experience in F3… I think a new Oblivion game with trophy support would have been a better option.
Ok… So i'm only Lvl18, but having to periodically go back to the lucky 38's PS to drop of some of my loot, sleep, drink and eat is a a bit of a pain!! I know i can eat, sleep and drink on the go but it's the weight limit that kills me – Half way through looting a building and you find yourself over weight
The missions I've done so far have been meh… And i miss the super mutant behemoths, the Nightkin suck!! Where i found myself intrigued with F3 i find myself a little bored with F:NV… I also dislike that one second i'm laying waste to a whole den of Super Mutant Nightkin and the next i'm being beasted by a couple of sh!tty ghouls!!
I keep mentioning DS, and i know the games are so very completely different, but after playing such a 'small' and simplistic RPG that was so freeking awesome!! I've came to learn that bigger is not always better in the RPG world?!
Fallout 3 – 9/10
Fallout:NV – 5/10
I'm away down river to 'The Fort' so things might be away to pick up? And i guess when i'm Lvl30 i'll have the freedom to go anywhere… Perhaps 'Hardcore mode' effects the game more than i thought it would….
Anyone else have any thoughts on Fallout:NV now that you've played it a bit more??
November 2, 2010 at 11:24 pm #67783Seibei4211Member@GHOST – That exclamation mark thing happened to me yesterday and it's because I modded the gun. I guess the game doesn't know what to do with that. So you just have to delete the DLC, go into the game, have your items automatically taken out, then save, redownload the DLC, go back, have the items automatically put back in, then save and you'll have it back to normal. Also, I think you get 50 free 10mm rounds and maybe 5 free Stimpaks. You don't get two vault suits or two canteens though.
November 3, 2010 at 3:40 am #67790Oz-MetalheadMember@Doc
I've played 70 hours or so of F:NV. As much as I can get lost and distracted in this game exploring, I do agree Fallout 3 was better. The storyline in NV is just terrible. All 4 story arcs are similiar. Sure, there are heaps more side missions that get reported back to you at the end of the game, but I'd still prefer if the main game had more substance, plot wise. I was so excited in goodsprings to figure out the plot with your murder and the Platinum Chip, and after i discoved that out i was just 'Meh'.
Hardcore mode does take away some of the enjoyment. After i finished one of the story arcs i reloaded a save and turned the darn thing off!
The game is full of small glitches, not game breaking, but glitches none the less.
I always have 2 companions with me and treat them like pack mules, each holding more than 200 weight. I prefer the Brotherhood Safehouse as my store house, as its quicker and easier to get to. I have a riot shotgun and that thing owns just about everything. My Reinforced Mark 2 Combat Armor looks silly though.
Oh and i have no doubts that they're making another Elder Scrolls game. I pray that the glitches and freezes don't get passed onto that. Oblivion was awesome, and it rarely froze on me. The only glitch i remember was the vampire one on the GOTY edition.
November 3, 2010 at 9:44 pm #67809GHOST305MemberHas anybody else run into the Glitch where if you have ED-E as your partner and fast travel, ED-E doesn't follow and disappers forever and not allowing you to recruit Rex?
