May 28, 2011 at 7:29 pm #69843Kieeeraaan. LMemberI'm looking forward to this. I got FIFA 11 quite late , so I couldn't be bothered to get proper into it. Hopefully that will change this year.
+ I hope they sort out the handball rule. No more penalties just because it touched your arm.
May 28, 2011 at 7:34 pm #69845NinjacatMemberDon't want to put a downer on anyone who loves football or the Fifa series, but Fifa games are more tedious than any other annual releases. In fact, I think most sports games are. All they can do is add the new players to the sport and the teams that have gone up in the leagues and stuff. They do add 'New' game modes, but it's still the same thing. They can overhaul the menus and perhaps re-model the characters but at the end of the day, it's still football. I understand that there are millions of fans across the globe, but I can't see the appeal. Every game is looking at a rectangle of green with different men with different coloured shirts on running around following a ball.
I don't know much about football, but I know how the game plays and what it is. I don't see why they can't make a game and update it when a player is sold or a team moves stadium. In theory, there are a few games that could do this, but there is huge variation in those games, and the things that are added warrant a separate title release. Personally, I don't think adding minor things to a game doesn't really call for a new release.
I'm not a fan of sports games, it's honestly my least favourite genre of games. I understand the appeal, sort of, but they just aren't for me.
May 30, 2011 at 3:27 pm #69847KnoxieMemberKieran, you do know you can turn off handballs in game settings? :L
As I've said many of times, FIFA definitely DOES warrant a new release and not just an 'update'. Say what you like but there were major inventions added to FIFA 11. I'm not gonna go into much detail because I'm sure most of you have heard this before but;
– Personality+ made players act on FIFA like they do in real life, giving them exquisite detail in attributes such as shooting, dribbling and ball control etc. If you think reviewing most players in the world and giving them seperate personalities is easy then you are wrong. Here is a link which shows this massive gameplay update: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c0UBVKWpX4
– Be A Goalkeeper
– 360 Degree Fight For Possession
– Specialities and Flairs
– 11v11 Online BAP
– Pro Passing
There may be more as well but that's all I can remember atm. Personally I don't mind paying the £40 when this much is added/updated and the games are more than up to scratch (check Metacritic, I'm sure it got like 89/100).
May 30, 2011 at 4:55 pm #69850Kieeeraaan. LMember^^ Lol, yeah I do know you can turn it off. I used it for one match, was 2-0 up, then drew 2-2 because of 2 dodgy late penalties. I turned it off after that, but I would much rather play with a working handball rule.
I understand your points. They never used to innovate that much, but they have a lot recently with FIFA 10 + 11. You have to like football, to like a football game.
BTW I forgot to say this earlier, but when are we gonna get the champions league for FIFA?

Sadly, I don't think FIFA will get the official Champions League implemented into manager mode or just as a mode itself because PES currently has the license for it. We might just have to stick with the “European Cup” for now!

Love the look of this Football Club thing they're adding this year!
Looking forward to making a name for Fulham on the ol' FIFA
Just proves you wrong really Ninjacat, they change so much about the game every year that if you did pay attention to it, you really would notice, and obviously you don't.
I do hope they change those handballs mind! I've had penalties given away for the ball hitting the wall and even given when someone's been tumbled over in my area let's hope they've sorted it anyway!

September 14, 2011 at 4:28 pm #70748KnoxieMemberGot it off the US store at 11 last night. Played a few games and it's pretty good, with tackling providing a good challenge so far.
