I know there are some FF fans on here so I thought I'd post this, I for one am disappointed and hope they decide to bring some out. I know the game will be long but DLC is so common these days and for such a major release not to have it, well that would be s**t quite frankly.
February 15, 2010 at 7:29 pm #57886Doc-BMember“50-60 hours to complete the game and there's enough content to make this game last all the way to 100+h”
I've recycled this comment off another site… I'm not a final fan, although i played FF VII till the end to find out what the fuss was about, so I'm not that bothered….
Having played Fallout3 (diff. game i know) for about 150+ (before and after trophy patch/**DLC – didn't take that long really) I think that if the above comment is true the game would be big enough? After spending so much time on one game, i personally, was glad to finally put it down, feeling that I'd accomplished everything i could, ready for the next…
I'm all into 50+ hour games, but if they put everything in the box from the start then it might not need any DLC… I know it's a given that most games have DLC nowadays, but how much of that is tripe? Just for the sake of giving something away… And how long can Square Enix ignore those £££'s?
Square Enix is pretty much trying to say “This is gonna be the sh!t, straight out the box” aren't they? The final finished article to the best of our ability… (no pun intended)

FFXIV will have A LOT of DLC, I'm sure of that
February 16, 2010 at 12:33 pm #57935gow2rulesMemberdoesn't bother me as long as the get started with ff vrs 13 and release it next year and plus 40-60hours is quite a good length compared to the average 8-12completion rate of most games now a days
February 17, 2010 at 7:31 pm #57980Oz-MetalheadMemberI'm happy if there is no DLC. This means that everything they made for FF13 is on the disc and they're not ripping us off by making us buy a code just to unlock something thats already on the disc (Resident Evil 5).
Also most DLC these days are nothing compared to the actual game so who cares. Also i am a major fan of the Final Fantasy series so i am hopeful that there is a tonne of side quests to do like most previous itinerations already on the disc. Otherwise FF will have lost its soul.

A Neogaf user has apparently received the latest issue of the Dutch Playstation Magazine which contains an 8 page Final Fantasy XIII feature including a 2 page interview with Kitase. In the interview, Kitase discusses the failed simultaneous release Square previously aimed for as well as future plans for DLC.
Is the European version identical to the Japanese version or will the western version get extra content for the long wait?
Kitase: At first we had plans to release the game simultaneously worldwide, so we had the intention to deliver identical version between the regions. When we noticed that we wouldn't make it, we decided to release the game as fast as possible in the west after its release in Japan. We initially had doubts to add extra content to the western version but then it would have taken the international version more months of delay. We did prepare a DLC but it will arrive a little later in the west.
Hopefully scans will appear soon confirming the downloadable content??
