i think the stck is faulty Bcause it has huge holes thro the middle xD jks

That is Strange, Sounds like they fixed your blu-ray drive & broke your USB lol or your USB might be rubbish (no offence)

Yeah Sony will fix it for free if you can prove you purchased it within the last 12 months or were a victim of v2.40 firmware. Other than those two exceptions, they can only “replace” the blu ray drive for $150.

wen mine was replaced i was 2 months out of warrenty and i had v2.5

Really? Wow. This guy, Jeff, that I had talked to said that since mine was out of warranty it could be replaced for $150 plus shipping costs. I may call them back and give them an earful.

I know alot of ppl think less of me on this board, but i am really pissed. I have over $4,000 invested into my entire gaming setup. How would you guys feel if you invested so much money into something that breaks so easily? No great, I can tell you that. I have decided to just repair my PS3 and keep it. I do love it….when its working, lol. It really is better than Xbox, and I really do hope that Samsung will eventually created their own console bc they are dominating every aspect of the electronics field currently. Plus I reserved Resident Evil 5 just two days prior to my blu ray drive crashing. Being the die hard resident evil fan that I am is enough for me to keep everything until I get platinum on that game.

to: Killer. I'll add you as soon as I fix my home cinema system. without it, i have no sound for my ps3. i ordered the parts i need to fix it, but who knows when i'll get it.

i actually have a panasonic system called R.E.A.L with the original need for speed.

I dont think any less of you, i would be very pissed if my ps3 broke, and i know sony can be shit when it comes to support. i find it very hard to believe they would make something that lasts just 300 hours.

hope you get it repaired free.

i think everybody here imagines the pain of losing your ps3 ~again… ~ we just dont want to see you losing yourself in that dark dank place they call Xbox Live….the name alone brings back ancient fears….you know…'dont hate the player , hate the game' could translate into 'dont hate the playstation , hate the buggers that make it'…….

microsoft will give up on their Xbox eventually but expect to see 1 last stand from the ancient software company. lyk the rumours of Xbox720

Okay so here is an update.

I contacted Sony again to inform them that I knew they were fixing this problem for free for a lot of people. This time I got a, Jim, from Sony on the phone. He said that I was full of crap and that everyone who says they got it fixed for free out of warranty was a “flat out liar”. So he told me to either cough up the $149 or enjoy staring at my broken PS3.

Needless to say that I got his badge number, and spoke to his supervisor. That went alot better actually. However, I still paid $149 to have it fixed. I informed Sony that if they fix it again, then the new blu ray drive better be factory new and not a refurbished drive. He informed me since I am paying for a replacement that it would be a new drive. Thank God. However, I may not get my original 320gb hdd back since the screw is stripped and cannot be removed. They did that for me back in October and sent me my ps3 back with the new blu ray drive, so that i can get my hdd back.

I am still very irritated at Sony. Please……..samsung….make a console.
