Edge i'm having some similar problems. Whenever i pop in W@W or boot penny arcade from the hdd it just stops working. I don't understand what is actually going on with it and i called tech support(i actually got a nice dude to answer) and they told me to pay $150. But thats money i dont have. I live on cereal and candy bars for gods sake. I'm pissed. I bought the ps3 so it wouldn't break down and what happens when i get out of warranty. The damned thing stops playing games. But it'll play some games? Not the ones i just coughed up $60 bucks for?!?! Its ridiculous. I actually started to think about calling tech support and threataning to buy and xbox if they don't fix it for free.
Sorry to hear you had similar problems. I agree with the admin, it sounds more like a hdd issue than the blu ray drive itself. I just sold my ps3 yesterday, so i got enough from it to where i am buying a new one with a 3 year warranty, haha. i should be back online within the next week. im already having withdrawl symptoms from RE 5, haha.
March 20, 2009 at 1:39 am #21902Ratchet525MemberYou know can fix this problem with the new 2.60 update, right?
March 20, 2009 at 4:47 am #21926thedaxxmanMemberDude I already have 2.60. But how am i exposed to keep the stuff i downloaded if i reformat it?
March 20, 2009 at 7:29 am #21930shooter0784Membero god im so sick of hearin these stupid comments about how your ps3 screwed up and how your converting over to another system like your changing religion or something and never coming back
ive had my 20 gb sku ps3 since day 1 but ofcourse i swapped the drive out for a 120 .. now.. ive dropped this damn system several times and even kicked it over by accident several times and it works fine… idk if im just a lucky person or whatever but i currently have 3 ps3's right now and all different sku's and havent had any problems with any of them
ive had maybe 1 friend that had the YLOD or whatever you want to call it and he had to send his ps3 back 1 time.. and another friend who had a 360 and had it fixed i think 7 times and he wants to have it fixed again but i dont really trust this guy that much
but you go ahead go buy a 360.. i admire how people have multiple ways from keeping that system from over-heating like that towel trick… funny though how microsoft is what a multi-billion dollar company and they cant make a console that wont over-heat and RROD
March 20, 2009 at 8:48 am #21936kingawolMemberyou have 3 ps3's? now what on earth can you want 3 for? (not to mention pay for 'em…) honestly if you own 3 ps3's and there isn't a valid reason (you're phobic of doorhandles so you have one in every room so you can play if you get locked in) ……..you reallly really need to get a life.
ps feel free not to…

Just a heads up, you may want to read the date of certain posts. I did create this thread over 3 months ago, lol. The fact that you have 3 Ps3's tells me (like kingawol has mentioned) needs to get a social life. Go out and find a girlfriend. Seriously, it would help your health alot 🙂

hehe that was brilliant.
have you seen this?:
March 20, 2009 at 4:10 pm #21945edge4eva32Memberhaha, Shadeblack that was funny. I seen that a month ago or so, but it is still so funny.
March 20, 2009 at 4:39 pm #21946kingawolMembershade : brilliant
now we know what a guy that has 3 ps3s looks like . sadly , i still have no idea what you do with 3 ps3s , i really don't , the mind boggles …
see , somehow i'd have been more impressed if the guy had 3 pizzas (i'm hungry) , 3 season tickets to his local stadium (i'm a football fan) , or 3 girlfriends (i'm awake) …i guess all he has is 3 jobs and 3 blisters on each hand from playing with himself and his 3 ps3s….
now i'm going out to buy 2 more ps3s , as clearly i'm not giving enough money to sony….and while i'm at it i'll get 2 sony bravias to match…hell i'll even get 2 new sofas to sit one in front of each tv ….

March 20, 2009 at 11:07 pm #21973kingofgames73MemberMight be a bit off topic but here goes. If i back up my data onto a 500gb external hd then change my internal hdd for something a bit bigger then restore the data off the external hd would i get everything back. like my downloads, updates (game and ps3), users and their accounts on the ps3 etc? many thanks to anyone who can help me out here and if anyone knows a link on youtube to someone doing a guide to change their hdd it would be much appreciated(im fed up with being rick rocked lol)
March 21, 2009 at 2:32 am #21986kingawolMemberi believe the HDD needs to be in FAT32 but it'll restore everything.
March 21, 2009 at 4:04 am #21987pobert06Memberguys here's another off-topic question..can anybody sign in into PSN? because I'm currently getting an error and i can't sign in..is this happening to anybody too?

You will get all your saved game information and game data back. You will have to re-download any psn games that you have purchased. You will need to do a system update to current version bc you have to format the new hdd. The psn account info is online and is saved on the servers. NOT your ps3 (like trophies).
I have done the very same process before too when I upgraded. So I know. Let me know if you need anymore help.
