So i think I've been anticipating this announcement at almost every game show for the last two years… Being wrong every time
—
But here it is… Rock* have officially announced, via twitter, that there will indeed be a GTAV
That being said there ain't to much to shout about just now… Other than a web page and a date [2/11/11 – 11/2/11] for the first (teaser?) trailer… Anyway, enjoy the knowledge that it really is coming…
I wonder if Rock* will be keeping it all impressive tech. and realistic like IV, or bringing back some of the fun from San Andreas… Saints Row is looking pretty good so let's see what GTA can bring to the table…
October 25, 2011 at 7:56 pm #70952jenkem_addict88Memberi hope it goes back to being more san andreaish, and less 4ish. I still quote san andreas often “THEY CRAWLIN OUT THE WOODWORK CJ!”
i cant even put my finger on what made SA better…..maybe your right doc and it was just more fun…
Also, i saw your new sig, and began audibly laughing. hard.
October 26, 2011 at 8:09 pm #70964KnoxieMemberBuzzing about this!! Love GTA and seriously looking forward to V.
October 27, 2011 at 2:53 pm #70972Doc-BMemberTried to embed the countdown, but for the life of me i just can't seem to get it to work
Oh well… Fail
October 28, 2011 at 6:24 am #70973HardAndSloppyMemberHopefully it will be better than 4, and am I the only one who didn't really like San Andreas, I would rather it be more like Vice City. And BTW Doc your signiture is EPIC!!

I think you might be
The sheer size and scope of San Andreas was amazing… One of the best games on Ps2??
You could ride a bike, drive cars/tanks/monster trucks, fly planes/jets… Flying as high as you could only to bail and free-fall for ages was sweet as… And then there was the jetpack of course You could even drive the train…
The variety of almost everything in the game was, at the time, epic… I liked Vice City because of the Scarface 80's vibe… But SA just had a little bit more of everything…
Plenty of 'side-quests'… The triathlon events
—
GTA IV is better as a 'technical presentation of a game' in the eyes of critics and Devs… It might look dated now but when it dropped it looked amazing, IMO… It was sharper and more realistic than any other GTA ever…
Almost unnoticeable things like how some cars would have ABS and some wouldn't… Other sh!t like that… The cars handling were varied and tight… The free-roam MP was awesome!!!!
Having about 7 people on a buss blasting everything while getting chased from the cops is still one of my favorite things from a game… Ever
—
I have a bad feeling that GTA V, whilst still being great, will feel more like LA Noire with better missions and story 'aka' making it even more realistic and keeping the fun at a minimum, like GTA IV??
And although I've loved GTA right from the start, with everything I've seen about Saints Row 3 I'm not really sure what Rock* can do to 'raise the bar' that little bit higher… I just hope Rock* listen to the feedback of the fans… People want fun??
And if Saints Row 3 turns out to be as good as it looks like it could be… There might be a new sand-box style game champ in town, and GTA will be getting compared to that, rather than most sand-box games getting compared to GTA??
With the extra development time it's obviously gonna look better… But will it be as fun to play??
—
If I've rambled it's because I've wanted to talk about GTA V for ages
October 29, 2011 at 7:51 pm #70982scotty243MemberI don't know if GTA has done this before (only played GTA san andreas and GTAIV) but they should do like an undercover cop story with choices. Like how Splinter Cell: Double Agent was, they should take that formula but make it their own. I thought that would be cool.

Little game that got cancelled did that. I believe it was True Crime: Hong Kong or something. I’m not sure which way I want them to take the series, like IV or SA? Either were epic in their own right but I think I’d rather see IV more. Spectacular storytelling, epic missions, and just a better(but not so much funner) game. Make the story like IV but with an undercover cop, MP like SA, and co op that isn’t lame and you have a delicious package of GTA goodness. Make it happen, Rockstar.

isnt the point of a game having fun?

Exactly, and thats the reason I'm kind of wanting to buy saints row 3
October 31, 2011 at 12:17 am #71000Doc-BMemberI guess it depends on what kind of fun your looking for??
Super-realism and deep storytelling or ridiculous game elements for maximum fun factor, often at the cost of overall 'polish'…
—Heavy Rain was very much 'fun'… But not because i could beat a hooker to death with a dildo or whatever… But because of the 'grit', the story…
People might say they want something more like San Andreas but Saints Row: The Third is looking pretty much like it's going to be SA for Ps3… Only not a GTA game and not from Rock*
I'll still buy GTA V whatever it turns out to be… And it'll still be awesome!! But after all the L.A Noire tech. it'll be interesting to see what direction of game play they take with the whole wacky crazy fun over realism element… Bring on the 2nd

Thing is (and I hate myself for this) I’m a trophy collector, and I don’t just play for fun anymore. I want the best all around game because the list is going to compel me to see everything from the game. So if that means I get an awesome story and more polish to sacrifice a little of the fun, I’m OK with that. And on the SR Vs. GTA argument, I’m going to go out and say that SR3 is going to be more fun than GTA but the story’s going to be lacking. So if GTA puts out the better story with enough GTA craziness included, it’ll be the better game in my eyes.

I'm a trophy hunter myself too and hopefully GTA V has no online trophies for me to get. For me when I play a game I play first the campaign, then trophies, and maybe online. I just usually talk to people online and never really play with them for some reason.
November 1, 2011 at 9:51 pm #71017scotty243MemberDid you guys here the rumor? The game might be downloadable only. I think this is a cool idea but also what about the people who do not have an online connection or takes to long for them to download.
