Heavy Rain is a game that will split opinion, but to our minds it is one of the most immersive, mature and refreshing games in years. If you've been waiting for something new from your Ps3 then this is essential. (94%)
Four. More. Days.

February 22, 2010 at 8:48 pm #58284Doc-BMemberFor me a main selling point of this game was Fahrenheit… I would have personally given Heavy Rain a chance even if all the reviews were to have a more negative vibe, just because of this gem of a predecessor…
It would've been cool to see a special “Special Edition” with an re-jigged version of Fahrenheit to boot… Drool…
*EDIT*
Japan's already getting a dose of the origami killer in Heavy Rain, and North America and the rest of the world will be getting in on the action in a mere couple of days. But even before the game warms up cozily on store shelves, Quantic Dream's quietly released a patch already to correct some bugs.
According to Dutch website psinsider.de, the patch supposedly fixes some lag issues at the beginning of the game. It's not really clear though if this was the intended purpose of the patch as no official patch update was sent out.
I've read on diff. sites that the patch is 135/226/350mb, so… You decide…

A large number of gamers keep complaining about terrible freezes, crashes, sound problems etc. It seems to be that the 1.01 patch made things even worse.
Not the best of news really…

Huh
I have had 2 times wer the words cut out (for like 2 seconds) and 1 where it froze. Keep in mind today alone I've been playing this game for 10 hours straight, so I don't really give it a break.
The story is kinda short, but amazing. Very creative, super fun and it just doesn't get old. Your actions really do determine how the story goes (actions choose which missions you go to, so u play different missions on different playthrus)
I got this 10 am on Tuesday morning and have put at least 25 hours into it, and still going. I definitely recommend it. Yes there are very few minor problems, but they are easily overlooked by how great the story is.
February 26, 2010 at 3:42 pm #58428BigWoopMagazineMemberWell – I have played and beat the game fully and here is my spoiler free opinion. First, download the update, in NA its 225 MB, and fixes some issues in the beginning of the game. I personally had ZERO issues during the entire game.
The game starts off kinda slow, and lets you get adjusted to the controls. It had me skeptical at first, as I found myself wishing there was a specific run command. As I progressed I realized its uneccesary, when you need to run, you will run. If you could all the time I think you would look over a lot of environmental details that are important (as well as quite a few that are just kinda there). After a few scenes the story picks up, and quickly becomes an intriguing mystery full of rich characters who all may or may not be the killer you are hunting. It really kept me guessing the whole time, and I just found that I couldn't put it down without finishing it – I just needed to solve this game. If you want a deep intense story line full of emotional moments as well as action packed scenes, look no further. If you're like me, and are skeptical about the control scheme and actual gameplay, then play for at least one hour. By then you should know whether you want to find the killer, or if you want to go back to the mindless shooter games that plague the industry. Its really difficult to describe this any further without spoiling it. The game should take about 10-12 hours to complete, so @Leiran – while you should absolutely pick it up and try it, I don't think it will keep you occupied for several months. There is definitely some replayability here – you can see a chapter list in the main menu, and after beating it I was still missing many chapters, and within each of them there are many choices that effect not only the outcome of that particular situation, but future ones, and its often times hard to tell how they will until you get to it.
On a graphical note – clearly this game shines in that department. The facial detail is simply amazing, along with many of the emotions depicted by the characters. It is far from perfect however – any scenes where the characters touch each other (not fighting, but a hug or pat on the back, etc.) look kind of hokey – they are supposed to be touching each other but their hands are actually floating an inch away, or something to that effect. Its not a big deal, this still is hands down one of the best looking games out there, and certainly shows what potential there is for improvement in the future.
In conclusion – JUST TRY IT. And keep in mind, this is definitely intended for the mature audience, not just because you see some digital boobs, but because of the riveting story line and incredibly dramatic and tragic sequences through out it.
March 1, 2010 at 3:45 am #58548Doc-BMemberUS, February 28, 2010 – SCEA is looking into widespread reports tonight of PlayStation Network errors causing many to not be able to play games, and even lose trophies, on their PlayStation 3 consoles.
“We're aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we're looking into it,” the company said in a statement. “Stay tuned for updates.”
Forum members and e-mail tipsters are saying this problem is primary affecting owners of the older model of the PlayStation 3, and is even causing users to lose trophies previously earned. Many titles, such as Heavy Rain, are now unplayable due to connection issues with Sony's servers.
One theory points to an issue with the console's internal calendar, which is resetting pre-slim consoles to 12/31/1999. It's unclear at the moment how widespread this issue is.
IGN has contacted SCEA for an update on what's causing these errors. We'll keep you updated

Why is this in this thread?
Is anyone making a trophy guide for this game? There's one or two trophies that could use a list of events/actions that need to be taken to complete them – while I have no intention of making a guide, I wouldn't mind assisting or getting help compiling a list of actions for a specific trophy or two. In the interest of not posting spoilers (I have beaten the game) personally message me regarding this if you are interested.
March 1, 2010 at 7:48 pm #58611Doctor_RockMemberAlrighty, finished this off last night! Now, a lot of people are complaining/whinging about the ending and the big reveal of the origami killer. I thought it was really cool and did not see it coming! I had several theories about who I thought may have been the killer but I was floored by the reveal. If anyone wants to talk spoilers then give me a PM!
