As the title implies – this should be the thread to talk about anything Heavy Rain that may contain spoilers. Therefore – DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE BEATEN THE GAME, OR DON'T CARE ABOUT SPOILERS! I feel this is necessary since it is virtually impossible to discuss this game anymore without posting spoilers.
:::::::SPOILERS!:::::::::::::SPOILERS!:::::::::::::SPOILERS!:::::::::::::SPOILERS!::::::::::::::
Ok, now that that's out of the way…
First – I liked the ending. Didn't see that one coming. Now I'm playing the game again, and I find that the story doesn't really change at all until you get to Norman Jayden's part with meeting Nathaniel, which is a solid two hours into the game. I'm also trying to kill off all 4 characters to see how the story handles it, and I'm finding it difficult. Even in the fourth trial, Ethan should be full of bullet holes from a shotgun, but instead takes some buck to the back, then the dealer boots him out saying “go die somewhere else”. What the hell? I find myself a little dissapointed with that. So far the only character I've gotten to die is Madison, at Doc Death's place. Really my point here in this thread is regarding trophies though.
Second – Nerd Trophy – Find all clues using ARI (Crime scene + Mad Jack + Fish tank) and find the Origami Killer.
Can anyone help me compile a list of the clues and where they are found to complete this? I thought I found most of them, but its apparently not enough, and this trophy requires an entire playthrough to complete, so it is quite time consuming to do. Also, can anyone confirm that you actually need all the evidence, or just enough that Jayden can solve who the murderer is?
All Endings trophy – How many endings are there, and what needs to be done to see them? Any help here is appreciated. I've found trophy guides, but they say “find all the endings”. Not really much of a guide there, now is it? Rumor has it there's 22 – holy crap – so this brings up my next question…
If you play from a specific chapter, can you take different actions and still earn different endings and trophies, or do you need to replay the entire freaking game everytime?
And final question – unrelated to trophies. Can anyone explain what causes Ethan to black out (is it from his concussion, or something else), and/or why everytime he wakes up he is at Carnaby Corner West? I know this is the location where John Sheppard died, but what relation to Ethan does this have? Is there a scene in the game explaining it that I haven't seen, or is this something just left for us to try and figure out?
March 1, 2010 at 9:41 pm #58629MiiiitchMemberOkay for nerd you need to analyse all the evidence from the crime scenes, even the non-related stuff, at the first crime scene (where the body is found) the most common spot people have missed is the stuff that is up the hill near the fence, if you approach it you'll have a QTE to get up there. At Mad Jack's you need to scan everything so while walking towards the back of the workshop press R1 continuously, also go into the office and scan there and scan the acid tank to progress DO NOT i repeat DO NOT approach the exit as this will trigger the fight scene. At the club don't forget to turn off ARI to pick up the 2 fuel receipts on the floor near the fish tank and also don't forget to pick up the killers gun behind the door.
You are able to play chapters through chapter select to change the outcome and there is no need to start a new game. With regards to Ethan I'm narrowing it down to coincidence, the trauma he suffered after the death of Jason would explain why his physcosematic state changes greatly. I'd say him turning up on Carnaby after the blackout's is because we're meant to to think he's related to john and also the killer.

with nerd, you will know if you have everything the first time coz theres a trophy for it, at mad jacks theres a body in the acid bin, you need to scan that too, and in fish tank i think theres a gun behind the door. i think theyre the less ovbious ones.
i think theyre are 22 different ending cutscenes apart from the news report
i started from ethens last trail and got a compeatly different ending because i didnt send ethen to the wrong address, plus if you get madison killed in killers place (or anywere i would assume) the ending will also be different
March 1, 2010 at 10:11 pm #58634edge4eva32MemberThere are a total of 17 epilogue/ending other than the news report.

You need to scan everything in the ARI Sections of the game.the most common missed ones are the Blue Paint markings of the car behind Mad Jacks Garage and forgetting to pick up the gas receipts and Jayden's Gun in Fish Tank..you dont need to pickup the Killer's Gun in Fish Tank, just analyse it with ARI and you can use it as a clue later on.
For the endings, there are a total of 18,22 if you count the 4 alternate endings out of the original 18.You just need to follow the Perfect Crime path to make it easier.Once you've done that you can backtrack as far as the On The Loose Chapter and it's smooth sailing to the All Endings Trophy. So If you need any help just message me and I'll try and help you out.
As for the last one,I'm baffled on what happens to Ethan when he blacks out.I'm curious on what happens to him in that state.

Scott Shelby creeps me out! This just makes it worse.
Also, IGN has a guide that explains all the trophies and how to get them including the “Nerd” and “All Endings” trophy. Thats what I'm using.
March 1, 2010 at 11:30 pm #58651r23drummerMemberi hate how his character changes so drasticly when you find out hes the killer, too sudden.

but it totally explains why hes a private eye and why hes going around gathering the “information” … hes covering his tracks…Awesome plot twist imo.

Which scenes are you talking about? the one where he is destroying the evidence and which other one?
March 2, 2010 at 1:00 am #58669Ratchet525MemberDuring my playthru Ethan gets knocked out and woke up in a pros titudes apartment. She se xually harrasses him and the takes out a knife and stabs him in the shoulder, leading him to bleed to death…It was pleasent…
March 2, 2010 at 2:57 pm #58732BigWoopMagazineMember@Miiiitch – I think for Nerd I triggered the mad jack fight scene too early, I never went in the office. And as far as the black outs go – it lead me to think the same thing, that Ethan was John's brother… but he's not, so now it just doesn't make sense that this is where he keeps waking up. So then I started to think somehow Scott was manipulating it, with gas or something – but then I can't figure out why he would do it multiple times. Either way, he always wakes up with an origami figure, so he must encounter scott while blacked out for some reason.
March 3, 2010 at 4:41 pm #58817BigWoopMagazineMemberBeat this again last night (twice actually). One of those times was me trying to get every character to die at the earliest opportunity. Madison died at doctor deaths, Norman died at Madjack's, Ethan didn't die but got captured by the police, and this resulted in Shelby just walking away in the rain. I could not get scott to die either, even leaving the ropes tied up in the car so he would drown, he still climbs out, and then in the shoot out I let him get shot a lot but he just runs away. It seems the only way he can die is all the way at the end and it has to result through the actions of another character. Which kinda sucks. When they originally talked about this game with “if a character dies the story continues” I never thought it would be this difficult to have the characters die. I assumed the difficulty would be having them survive. Did anyone else find that a little misleading?
There was something else I noticed last night that didn't make sense, but can't remember what it was at the moment. Don't be surprised if you see another post regarding that eventually, which nobody replies to anyway.
March 4, 2010 at 3:50 am #58858gow2rulesMemberjust finished it with all 4 characters alive albeit scott does get squished
so happy happy ending yad yada yay!
but it also showed jayden fbi guy getting followed by these tanks even with ari off i guess this is due to my slow reaction when offered a drug i forgot to so no or missed it causing him to take the drugs
