I know that some games don’t let you copy the save files individually but if you do a full system back-up then they should be copied along with everything else.
Are you saying that Rock Band doesn’t allow copying even then?
Yeah, since the beginning, Rock Band has never allowed their game saves to be copied. I don't know why, but it's very irriatating.
July 29, 2010 at 7:53 pm #64455Doc-BMemberAhhhh… “Copy-protected” saves is it. Some people say you can, some people say you can't…
RB, along with more and more games these days, come complete with CP meaning that you use them on one Ps3. The save get encrypted with your Ps3's serial No. or something rendering them useless unless you use the same system… Problem being is that how do you remove your HDD without it being re-formatted? Well you can't, and that's where everyone gets pissed off with CP saves…
I can remember restoring my RB onto my Ps3 after a got it back from Sony… sure of it. But the problems are with people getting back diff. systems from Sony and as your not sending it away i think you could “back it up” then restore it… But i wouldn't risk it myself as I'm not 100% sure and i wouldn't want you to try it, lose your CP saves then hunt me down and kill me… You would have to back-up the whole system to try and see if this works or not as you can't transfer individual CP saves…
IMO – Find someone with a relatively new and empty Ps3, use the “transfer data” feature from the XMB and transfer your CP saves (along with all other save files) to it (like a safe). The CP saves will then delete automatically from the original machine. Buy a new HDD or whatever then repeat the process onto your new HDD. It wouldn't help with your DL'd stuff but your CP saves would be intact at least… Just remember to check the system your using as a “safe” doesn't have CP saves on it or trouble would arise as only one system would be able to have all the saves on it at one time!

You could either just run a vacuum cleaner along the fan holes, but if you wanted to give the system a proper dust, you'd have to actually open up the PS3 by taking the top off. You'd then use some canned air to blow the dust out.
July 31, 2010 at 3:16 pm #64534pool96MemberI read an article on CVG that a number of PS3's have crashed since the latest firmware, sorry I've lost the link.
Sony has said that it's not the firmware updates fault.

August 1, 2010 at 4:28 pm #64577kingofgames73Memberopening a ps3 voids the warranty, as it states on the sticker covering one of the screws

August 2, 2010 at 12:11 am #64587Gashead-64Memberk, mine is still in warranty so i won't do that then; thx 4 the heads up.
August 2, 2010 at 3:20 am #64591ScottSummers1MemberMy PS3 (40Gb Fat) won't let me play games. It turns on fine, can still go on the internet and speak to friends but in the 'GAME' section on the Xmb i can't select a game on disk to start playing.
I'm phoning Sony tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes haha.

Does the disk keep spinning in the console? Does it actually show up on the XMB?

Can you play PSN downloaded games? What game did you first notice the problem with?
