I got this game yesterday and I really like it. But I'm finding it difficult to get used to it. I'm very slowly getting better at it, but I was wondering if it's more to do with the game, rather than me. I'm usually pretty good at most games I come across – sorry to make that sound braggy, but it's the truth.
Anyway, how long did it take everyone else to get good at this?
is it more to do with learning the maps, the flow of the game? Experience with flying the warhawk?
September 8, 2008 at 2:43 am #16743bskeillorMemberI think it's a bit of familiarity. Remember that a lot of these guys have been at it for over a year on the same maps. They know all the nooks and crannies and know where all the weapons spawn. I am starting to get better now too knowing that I can't just run somewhere blindly. There is almost always a sniper ready to take a rookie out. As far as flying, I am still pretty terrible at it. I practice on the tutorial level a little bit.
September 8, 2008 at 1:42 pm #16751PlayzockerMemberI feeling with you, man 😀
I couldn't even manage to kill anyone. Doen't matter how often I shoot, these guys don't die. But I do … very often 8)
September 8, 2008 at 3:26 pm #16757shadeblackParticipantwhen i started i got about 5 point per match. the other day i got 10 points per match, and now i get about 20-40 points a match.
I guess this game really IS about experience. I'll keep at it I think. It is amazingly fun, afterall.
September 8, 2008 at 5:03 pm #16760AfroFishMemberi mostly do capture the flag games and get well over 100+ points a game, if u always attack and manage to grab the flag, or u always manage to kill the flag carrier haha.
i love capture the flag. and CTF maps help u get Medals ingame faster so you can get Trophies.
September 9, 2008 at 12:27 am #16803shadeblackParticipantto be honest, I HATE CTF!
it's insanely boring.
but everyone is doing them, so I have to do them as well. lol. I know what you mean about getting the medals quickly though, because I find myself getting them simply by playing around.
i got a trophy by getting into a tank and driving into the sea off a cliff.
September 9, 2008 at 12:33 am #16808PlayzockerMemberTHX for mentioning CTF. The one time I played, I got the flag anmd – don't ask me how, I got it into my base. But where the hell is the spot I have to drop it off? You have to imagine me running around with the enemy base and then getting killed next to my own flag just because I didn't find the goddam spot to drop it off. 😀
They should have made a tutorial for “special idiots”…
September 9, 2008 at 2:38 am #16812shadeblackParticipantI'm usually on the losing side, because I'm the ONLY one trying to get the flags, where everyone else is trying to kill the other team – and often fail lol.
September 9, 2008 at 2:26 pm #16825PlayzockerMemberSo – tried again now and I've improved big time – I even got some real kills … but of course I died many many times 😀
I even won one game and now I'm going for Bandwidth Donor. The crazy thing: “By accident”, I won 3 trophies!
P.S.: Maybe there's something wrong with my internet connection because it happened again that I kept shooting and shooting and the enemy didn't die…
September 9, 2008 at 2:38 pm #16827shadeblackParticipantcould be lag. happens a lot when someone has a bad connection. either you, or the person you're shooting at.
September 9, 2008 at 2:42 pm #16831PlayzockerMemberSince it happens often it seems to be my coonectrion. But I can't really understand that since I'm online using W-Lan and the Access Point is about 5 meter away from the PS3…
Let's see whether I gat the Badwidth Donor with this connection of mine… 😀
September 10, 2008 at 2:20 am #16876shadeblackParticipantWireless LAN is incredibly tempermental, and is likely to drop it's connection every now and then as well. the strength of the connection will usually change a lot of the time.
You'd be much better off with a wired connection with an ethernet cable. if it's only 5 metres away, why not connect it up?
Another solution is to use 'Devolo Plugs', but that's costly.
good luck with the bandwidth trophy.
September 10, 2008 at 2:24 am #16878PlayzockerMemberWell, normally, the PS3 is not 5 meters away but located 2 floors beneath and the W-Lan cannot go through the thick walls.
This is why I normally use – and you'll laugh – Devolo Plugs but I have been thrown out of the internet a lot of times (when playing Battlefield Bad Company) which is acutally the reason why I stopped playing it. But now the plugs work perfectly fine and are a very good and cheap way of connecting the PS3 to the internet although they're not THAT fast. 😀 All other options would have been way more expensive because I wuld have needed at least 2 W-Lan repeaters or an approximately 35 meter long Ethernet cable
But when I play online I often go upstairs with the PS3 because i don't want to use up my beamer's lamp that easily.
P.S.: Bandwidth Donor worked perfectly fine
September 10, 2008 at 4:08 am #16889shadeblackParticipantawesome. I use devolo plugs as well for a long time now. I absolutely love them. Much more stable and much faster than Wireless.
I guess I'll be trying bandwidth donor soon as well. a nice and easy gold trophy 😀
September 10, 2008 at 1:23 pm #16892PlayzockerMemberDefinitely, yeah. I just started the game, went on a shopping trip and when I got home I had the trophy 😀
