So i just found this……lemme know what you think
February 4, 2011 at 7:39 pm #68921kingofgames73Memberhmm? an fps game with a short story? that's the first time thats ever happened! although higher difficulty, and watching of cutscenes should bring the sp time to 6 hours (the norm for an fps with a large focus on mp, it would appear)
February 4, 2011 at 9:55 pm #68924parnakasMemberI don't really see an issue, as long as this short story mode is absolutely packed with action. I'll admit, I was hoping for it to be 6 hours minimum, but I guess the single-player is just thrown out the window in these war FPS games.
Also, I agree with everything kog73 said.
February 4, 2011 at 10:40 pm #68926HardAndSloppyMemberGames need to be like 10 hours or more. Nowadays they are all so damn short. It really pisses me off. Oh ya, they expect me to buy a 4 hour long game, for $80. You have to be kidding me. Then people will say “Oh, it also has multiplayer, that never ends, so you get like a whole bunch of hours.” And I say, “Well buddy, they put a shit multiplayer with it, that took them like two hours to make, and no it isnt an infinate amount of time, it gets pretty damn boring after like half an hour.” So there is my rant of the day. Does anyone else feel this way?

Very much so. The idea that a game either has to have a solid MP or SP and not both is a joke. Most third-person shooters manage it so I can't see why an FPS has to be any different.
Mind you, I'm not too pushed about the story being too short. On the other hand if what I'm hearing about co-op being local only is true then I'm going to be pissed. If they haven't bothered bringing it online then it's a massive opportunity missed and a step backwards in terms of gaming.
February 4, 2011 at 11:59 pm #68928emdeepeeMemberI've kind of had the wind taken out of my sails with regards to KZ3.
I was really looking forward to it, but in general the reviews have been fairly average. Coupled with this story it makes a rental more likely.

I agree fully. With that said though, I hate games that are long and boring. I would rather have a 5 hour action packed awesome experience than a 10 hour bore-fest.
Still, games should be at the very least 8 hours imo. That or lower the price. Multiplayer does add a nice amount of time added to the game, but multiplayer should be secondary. Single player needs to become the primary focus of video games again.

This is kind of why I'm excited about Duke Nukem Forever. This website says it is supposed to be 2-3 times longer than any call of duty campaign. Sounds good to me, as long as it can kepp the magic.
Sorry forgot website:

Also that is a good idea about lowering the price. The amount of time it takes to beat the game on average should be on the back of the game where it says the amount of players who can play the game at once. I propose $40 instead of $80. And I actually like some games that are really long. Like Fallout 3 (Fallout NV wasnt as good), the Metal Gear Solid series, and borderlands
February 5, 2011 at 11:42 pm #68940parnakasMember@hardandsloppy – I'm all for long games, as long as they don't drag on unnecessarily. MGS4 is pretty long, but I think it was absolutely perfect.
Lowering the price of games would be a dream come true.. It will never happen though. Some games that came out 2 years ago are still $60. Come on. I hate when new games are $80, like what the hell. Completely ripping everyone off.
With all this said, I finally got a chance to play KZ3 beta at my friends house. SO GOOD. Definite buy for me.

One game that you should buy when it comes out is Duke Nukem Forever. After seeing the trailer it looks to be the manliest game ever, it can make up for expendables not being so good.
Don't believe me watch the trailer:

I've seen some stuff about that game. Not to big of a fan of the Duke Nukem thing. After KZ3, I'm probably not going to buy any more games for a while. Need to start saving up for school and other things.

I'm only buying like 2 games this year, Uncharted 3 and Duke Nukem Forever. Gonna rent a wholee bunch then.
February 6, 2011 at 10:17 pm #68960emdeepeeMemberJust looking at the next 2 months alone its gonna be an expensive time. Think I'll give Homefront a chance ahead of KZ3, but also looking at Deus Ex, Crysis 2 and Motorstorm: Apocalypse!!!
Absolutely determined not to buy whichever iteration of COD comes out this year. Then there's still U3, Arkham City, L.A. Noire and SSX: DD to name but a few. Gonna be a great year

You and me both. And I almost forgot about arkham city, I think I might buy that as well. But I am determined not to buy any games I will only play once this year. Last year I bought Dante's Inferno, AvP, DJ Hero, Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption, and worst of all Carl on Duty: Black Cops. Before anyone says anything, I did enjoy Red Dead, but I found there was nothing to do after I beat it. And I also didnt like the ending.
