After struggling through the last two co-op chapters on Far Cry 3 (with Scotty multi-tasking by eating his ice cream, without sprinkles) I've finally picked up my first “big boy” plat. After the stress of that I'm gonna have to go back to CWACOM or Shrek Forever After
March 25, 2013 at 1:21 am #73117gr8jrfanMember#98 God of War: Ascension
So I'd probably say that this was the hardest “Hard” mode of the series, but it's still not that bad if you're good at action games. I got through the platinum in exactly 10 hours, scoring everything but the 1000 combo in my playthrough. Trial of Archimedes is nowhere near as bad as some people have been bitching and moaning about. I played it while 1.03 is active, but I'm positive I could've done it without. It took me 4 tries, it gives you a little bit of health and magic per floor but there's still no checkpoints. I was also worried if I'd have all the weapons and relics fully upgraded by the end, so I farmed red orbs at Chapter 20. Guess what? That's also dramataticized by little babies in the forums. I had over 30,000 orbs left at the final boss.
I thought it was a pretty good game but the storytelling definitely left something to be desired. Where were the actual origins of the mighty Kratos that were advertised? They can't do another prequel to 1 now because that'd just be redundant. Ever since 1, I thought it'd be cool to actually play the first fight with the Barbarian King or the burning of the Athenian village. Ghost of Sparta actually provides more details of the origins of Kratos than this! Also, it's missing a lot of elements that made GOW God of War like the freaking sex minigame!
Gameplay-wise it was still pretty fun. You can still do pretty badass combos and the four different ways you can charge your blades kept the battles varied and interesting. (Hades all day, bitches!!) The boss design is spectacular as always, especially the final one. The enemies were fun to fight and all, but it goes against David Jaffe's way of keeping everything extremely Greek. I mean what do armored elephants and bug people have anything to do with Greek mythology? The finishing QTE's are phenomenal, especially the Juggernaut one, slicing open the elephants cranium to reveal it's massive pink brain…
Anyway, it's a really good action game if you can ignore the disapointing storytelling and it's a fun plat to do, in my opinion.
March 27, 2013 at 11:24 am #73121KriggsMemberWell I just got my Rocksmith platinum the other day, I was going for the 50th spot in the world but I missed out by one . All the same I honestly don't even mind I'm just glad I'm one of the very few who have it.
I thought going for rank 11 was going to be the hardest trophy to get in it but as it turns out obtaining all the guitars was actually the most long term. I ended up having almost twice the score i needed for rank 11, 40,000,000 points overall.
I also managed to borrow a lead from a friend of a friend to get that stupid money grabbing “Beneficial Friends” trophy. I couldn't get a lead shipped to this sh1thole of a country I live in and the €30 price tag is just ridiculous
I havn't been too active on here lately and that's down to Rocksmith, grinding events and xp had me at the point of insomnia but it's over with now and I can download some awesome songs to have some fun with it.
I had a lot of fun getting the platinum but now the pressure is off

Despite my absolute hatred for Ascension, do you still think the others (especially GoW3) are worth a look into if I didn't like Ascension? I don't want to give up on the series if the latest one isn't on par with the previous games…
Congrats on the plat. To be honest, I didn't think the plat would be as rare as it is since it's been out for almost 2 years now. Do you think you'll go for the 100%? Or is it bagged then dragged out?
#33 Crysis 3
Game Enjoyment: None
Platinum Difficulty: 4/10 (Only because of how tedious it was to play this dump)
Alrighty, where to start off? I don't know Anywho, I'm not angry at this game, I don't hate this game or anything, I just don't care or like this game. Yes, it's certainly not worth anyone's hard earned cash or time however it didn't feel like a cash grab or was just a broken game overall. I didn't care for the plot whatsoever, the graphics aren't really that good, and the gameplay wasn't at all fun, engaging, or strong.
Saying all of that, this game did shine, in it's wonderfully dynamic score. The music in the game was great overall – It fits wonderfully in this so called “Final chapter” in the Crysis storyline and there were actual moments in game where I would stop and just take a second to digest the great music being processed into my ears. However, there is a negative side to my praising – It's not memorable in any way, which is a shame since this is where the game does shine.
Here's a few samples…

Overall, don't waste your time or money. There are much better games to use that hard earned dough on, even if you're a fan of Crysis, especially 2.

Surprised it is so rare???? You need to be a great musician to beat the damn game so I'm a little insulted. It took me 3 months to beat the game and I wasn't solidly playing it, I'd say I put about 30 hours into it at most. Anyone who has never played a guitar before will have serious problems beating this as the guitarcade challenges can be nightmarish if you havn't the aptitude for it. I'm not surprised at all that very few have it, it's an elite group to be in. The game has a difficulty rating of 9/10.
I'm not sure if I'm going to go for the 100%, I've never played a bass before but I'd imagine I'd pick it up quite quickly. Also I may not even need a bass guitar, I think I can use a regular guitar as an emulated bass which might make it a bit easier.
I always love learning new instruments so maybe I'll pick it up soon.
March 28, 2013 at 2:07 am #73131gr8jrfanMemberEhhh… Maybe? None of the GOW story is in anyway dependent on Ascension. Ascension's probably my least favorite of the entire series, so giving the other entries a shot might be worth your time. The next game in chronological order would be Chains of Olympus and since it's so short and there is a really well done scene towards the end, I'd actually recommend finishing the game before you render judgement on it this time. If THAT isn't your style, then either go to GOW1 or skip to GOW3 if that's what you wanted to play. GOW3 was probably my favorite of the entire series.

Maybe the fact that I'm surprised is because I'm such a great musician who has done created such phenomenal tracks such as, Soft Beats, Soft Love and the new upcoming, Love is War.
Nah, maybe it's that I've never actually paid attention to the platinum requirements for that game and stuff. I'll probably look it over sometime. You should plat Rock Band 3. Isn't there a trophy that requires finishing like a 9 hour continuous session?
March 28, 2013 at 5:26 am #73135KriggsMember@ scotty243
You had your moment(s) of glory with those stellar hits but it's been a while since their hayday and they're starting to stagnate a little. You need to get working on some new stuff and don't you forget we have Resident Evil 5 to play through.
The fact about Rocksmith is you need to have some serious skill and know your instrument so well that you can't even look at the damn thing. Those guitarcade challenges increase in speed so drastically that you need immense reflexes just to get close to the millions of points you need to pass them. Regardless of how the game is advertised you CANNOT finish that game if you are a novice musician. It's a great learning aide for beginners because it adds another element of fun to physically learning how to play an instrument and really makes you want to play guitar.
In my eyes it's revolutionary but was poorly advertised. I had never even heard of it until a few months ago and you say it's been out for 2 years. I'm astonished.
Yeah the “Endless Setlist” in Rockband is just the most fun to play if you have the time for it.. I've got all of the rock band games but I played them with a group of friends on another profile and we did a few of those. I'm pretty badass at them but havn't gotten around to playing them properly yet on my own profile. I won't be able to finish Rock Band 3 due to the”PRO”instrument requirements but I can definately get the rest.
Also I'd like to weigh in on the GOW scenario
I've not played GoW:A but i've played the other three that are on the PS3 and I recommend you play all of them…..
March 29, 2013 at 8:13 pm #73144scottish_wonderboyMemberi platted sniper ghost warrior 2 in a day then realised i was only at 85% as it already has dlc. i checked the 100% club on psn profiles and only a few people had the 100% the quickest being 2 days 20hrs so i debated buying the dlc as it was 8 frigging pounds for 3 missions but decided to get it and do it quickly. just waiting on my profile updating and il be #1 fastest in the world to get 100% to add to the 1st person in the world to plat get up and dance haha
April 9, 2013 at 10:21 pm #73161KriggsMemberGot the Platinum in Bioshock over the weekend with Jack. I'd never played any of the series but I have to say I was impressed. I loved every bit of it but would probably have been bored had we not started it on survival from the get go. I feel like it would've been too easy on the lesser difficulties, it was a welcome challenge to jump in at the deep end. The weaponry in it is fantastic and the Crossbow is the most fun weapon I've ever used, trap bolts for the win
Although there were a few hairy moments towards the end where we misread a trophy description and thought another playthrough was going to be needed we managed to get it all in one go. Fun game and I recommend anyone who hasn't played them to give both Bioshock 1 and 2 a go. Gonna start 2 sometime over the next week but will be ready for the online on thursday.
April 23, 2013 at 8:02 pm #73199KriggsMemberPicked up a couple more plats over the last week or two.
I beat Sega megadrive ultimate collection in like ten hours, would've been faster but I actually had some fun playing some of the games. Reminiscence is like cocaine for old people
I also beat Call of Duty Classic which was not as hard as people are making it out to be. Only one level caused me a bit of grief but It didn't set me back too much. Maybe I'm good at it or I understand how to abuse the physics(or lack thereof) of the game but I had a lot of fun playing it.
That makes 39 plats so far and I'm not really sure what I should make my 40th.

Nothing. Don't do anything special for any milestone. I always tried to do that but it doesn't ever matter to anyone.. I held off on getting my 100th for a while but it's just pointless. I could've got way more plats done in the time it took to figure out which plat I was going to do and it wouldn't even have been worth it.
So I got plat one hundo! I considered doing Max Payne, MGS4, Sly 4, a whole bunch, but in the end, I said fcuk it and I bagged the Devil's Cartel plat. It was a pretty fun game, Insane had 2-3 checkpoints we had to repeat but it was fine. Pretty easy platinum and I'm glad I don't have to worry about what I'm doing for my 100th platinum anymore.
April 24, 2013 at 8:41 pm #73211scotty243Member#35: Hitman Absolution
Enjoyment: 4/10
Difficulty: 1/10
Boring. That's all I can really say. What started off strong surely ended in a wreck for me. I couldn't stand this game after the initial playthrough and wished I had opted to just do it all in one go. Was going to try and bag this piece of shit on my birthday but I surely couldn't care at all for this game. This game was a waste all around, I think, and it doesn't help that the ending for this title was a colossal insult in which nothing at all can redeem this title whatsoever.
A pass, at BEST.
April 27, 2013 at 2:40 am #73225KriggsMemberJust platted S'Hitman: Absolution #40
I have to say it's one of the weakest games I've played in a very long time. I found myself skipping every single cutscene because I just hated the characters and the graphics are pretty poor for a modern game, especially one from a series that has been around for a while.
I cannot see myself playing another game from that franchise.

Scotty will be pleased that someone finally agrees with him
