A few of you already know i love to discuss stuff… so, let's talk…
about anything!
I'll start it off.
Do you think the European Union should simply merge with the commonwealth nations?
Most of the members of the commonwealth used to be parts of the british empire, so why do you think we've settled for a fairly small role as a lone member in the EU Union.
April 29, 2009 at 10:28 pm #24134Ps3 FreakMemberNot being funny but if you look at a map all countrys from the same continent are always next to each other… so for example Kenya was part of the British Empire (i think) but thats like in the east coast of Africa (again, i think) so it wouldnt have the same pattern and it would be unprotected as it is so far away from the main land Europe… and as for Britain being so small in Europe i think its to stop ourselfs getting too open, i mean like if we were big in Europe we would get even more people trying to bomb us…
April 29, 2009 at 10:36 pm #24135kingofgames73MemberYeah but Britain being so small appears to attract all the Polish immigrants……..I wouldn`t mind talking about swine flu (virus) though, i mean is there any pattern yet?
April 29, 2009 at 10:39 pm #24136Ps3 FreakMemberSome 23 month old baby died from the Swine flu, she's is the 1st person to die outside of Mexico since the outbreak… and for some good news the couple who got the virus on their honeymoon seem to be making a good recovery…
April 29, 2009 at 10:45 pm #24137kingofgames73MemberAny chances of school closures yet due to the outbreak? “stares hopefully at the sky” i mean i dont see the point of doing a exam if my expected grade is an A or A* lol
April 29, 2009 at 10:50 pm #24139Ps3 FreakMemberLOl i wish i have my Maths mod 3 exam and 3 science exams soon and my whole English Language Paper 1 & 2 to do…
April 29, 2009 at 11:20 pm #24141XeroTheGreatMemberI really don't see this turning into a pandemic. If it was that bad, then wouldn't the government have drafted up plans and vaccines to give to everyone?
There may be a lot of cases being reported, but only a minority of these are 'confirmed', and Mexico's healthcare systems and climate etc is different to other countries (And the population per sq.mile).
April 30, 2009 at 12:45 am #24146kingawolMemberabout the european issue : first off … do you know Europe has a frontier with Brazil? dont believe me ? French Guyana is french , therefore part of europe. thats pointless fact number 1. so in theory The European Union could have parts wherever.
fact number 2 : if you got bombed depending on your status in europe , germany would have had attacks first , its the UK's link with the US and our involvment in Irak that make us targets. (i'm not saying these things are good or bad i'm stating facts)
pointless fact number 3 : i'm not in a panic over a pandemic , remember how a couple years ago avian flu was going to decimate us ?
pointless fact number 4: to answer Shade's first question , the Commonwealth nations wanted sovereignty , therefore unless they re-merged with britain , i dont think it would ever happen. i mean australia in the EU?

Yeah i heard of swine flu. My english teacher was talking about. However, didnt only pigs get swine flu? Weird. How did humans catch it.
April 30, 2009 at 1:57 am #24153KILLER369Member1 simple answer to solve all our problems, 1 united planet with 1 sole leader who gets advice from his most trusted personel.
eventually the shift is gna hit the fan and wen it does, the ppl who are responsible for it are gna be on the next flight off this rock while all of ‘us’ are gna be wunderin wtf just happened.
if U dnt agree with me on this then at least agree tht our governments are incompitent corrupt ass holes that are only interested in making cash, and need to be removed from their position of power befor we all pay the price.
April 30, 2009 at 4:19 am #24162shadeblackParticipantI'm really glas i opened up this topic. hopefully, it will stay going 😀
Anyway, I think the common wealth nations and the EU could really benefit from merging. of course they'd have to change the name again to something more global.
@Kingawol: I think australia already consider themselves part of the UK. I'm not exactly sure why, but they tend to willingly accept UK immigrants looking for work and base that standard on whether or not they can speak fluent english to a high standard. Both Australia and New Zealand I think have large connections to the UK, especially in their countrie's history.
On the topic of swine flu, we really don't have anything to worry about. Swine flu is very rare in humans because the strain of influenza has to undergo a grand mutation. What the government is worried about is if the swine flu strain has mutated far enough to affect humans on a wide scale (casuing an epidemic). But this won't happen. The media portrays any *new* kind of flu virus as something that is out there right now trying to kill us, like an invisible serial killer. But the facts are that Swine flu is harmless. In fact, it's almost no different to the ordinary flu.
The reason why we have different kinds of flu is not because of their severity, but actually because each animal has different body structures and immune systems. Swine flu for instance is targeted for pigs, and avian flu targets birds. If one strain mutates, it attempts to undergo a transformation in order to find new hosts to thrive in. What amuses me is that the human body is so fragile it's almost an insult to creation. The bat for example, is a lot more versitile – it can potentially have hundreds of diseases at the same time without feeling any affects, because it's immune system is so strong.
IF you're a healthy person (95% of people ARE), then you're fine. it will feel like a normal flu. take some medicine and go to the doctor if it worsens as usual. the other couple of people dying from this though, are often not healthy to begin with, and then they are not treated. That's when they die. But let's face it, the ORDINARY flu can and WILL kill you if you don't take medicine for it. I know this both from knowledge and personal experience, as I once refused to treat my flu for two weeks on one particular occasion. I nearly died 3 weeks into it, and it took me a month to recover.
April 30, 2009 at 12:00 pm #24183kingawolMemberShade : australia is far removed from just about every other continent. so they're more than willing to get ppl from the outside in a number of work sectors. Quebec keeps doing that , recruiting ppl in France 'cause they want french speaking pple and lack in some jobs. but Quebec wouldnt accept french rule , nor would australia. strong ties , yes , but i dont think they feel british. maybe they'll tell us …

Shade:
we are nothing like enythin on this planet, U may say weer similar to apes, but if you look at our anatomy we are different. and research our true time line on this planet. our current form goes back 20 to 25 thousand years. with evry other creature we can research wat their form was before their current. you cant go back further than us. scientists can only speculate over fossils of human like creatures.
i personally believe that we are not native to this planet, however, i also believe that we are a mix between homo erectus, and something or someone else.
onto swine flu. the reason why its considered a problem is because as shade pointed out the mexicans are not treating it well enough, but it could mutate as the host would be severely weakened and less oposition to the flu.

Ape and Human DNA is VERY similar.
the DNA of humans and chimpanzees share 97.5 percent.
Apes share 98%
a horse shares 88%
the cytochrome C of a dog is about 90 percent similar to that of a human
As for evolution, we can actually see frm early human fossils that the size of the brain would be roughly 370 cubic centimetres, which is the same as a chimpanzee. over time it became much greater. the DNA, bone structure and behaviour suggests clear evidence that we evolved frm apes. you deny this?
