there is no point to our existence. its human ego that wants us to believe we have a 'purpose' … all you can do is be nice to kids and elderly ppl , have fun , and be the best person you can be. imo. and do what you can for those less fortunate , ie. handicapped ppl , sick ppl , etc…

chill , keep in mind , IT DOESNT MATTER , and although like you im an atheist , i'll quote this '…grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change…' , tbh , most of our life is determined at birth , our choices are marginal , but we can still enjoy what little we get.

that is why religion is important to the human mind, if you/i believed , we'd be better armed with answers (albeit questionable ones) to those existential questions. as you get older , you'll learn to deal with insecurity etc… , the whole 'would you take the blue or the red pill' question. which is why i disagree with l8scent's sign-off , 'ignorance IS bliss' , or more effectively 'ignorance of your ignorance is bliss' . but you can't live in bliss forever….

btw , death doesnt always have to be painful. (i hope)

and dont kill yourself , i'd miss having someone to get pissed off at…

humans are incapable of killing ourselves… it's the medium we use that kill us.

and yeah don't even joke about killing yourself. I've come close more than once and it isn't 'fun'.

shade you and i share a remarkably similar childhood. the only difference is that i dont have sleep issues, sorry to hear btw. and i just thought of different things.

but all that aside, i live in hope that we can escape our doom somehow with, hopefully, the help of a more conditioned race of beings.

but 1 full stop at religion… why would a grand creator of life ie god, eventually end his creation?

i was asked a question in my R.S class “what is the meaning of the word god?” i answered “heartless tyrant”.

well , what of a scientific experience ? not a 'loving god' but a scientist and his experiment ? just a thought….

so what are we? his experiment? if so he created life, he should interact with it and see us into the universal order of things. not just cause cataclysmic destruction upon us, just when weer getting ready for the biggest step in human history. if that is what god is then he should be killed in a cataclysm himself.

Also what do we have a non spersivic(sp?) deaoty (God) being asked to protect our non elected spunges (The Queen) in our national antum. If he does exist, he would to too besy with a magnifying glass burning all the people like childeren do with ants.

once again , its humanity's ego that makes us believe we'd be so important. of course , it was just a thought , and i have no idea what the experiment's goal would be.

as prior to shades theory on the whole imminent death situation i have a movie that, i think is an excellent example of this imminent death.

SPOILER ALERT:
the cataclysm featured in this movie is due in 5.5 billion years, and is when our star (the sun) evolves into a white dwarf, a multi sloar flare explosion, heating the sun to far beyond any temperature immaginable. we dont really have to worry about that as of yet.

however this movie also involves multi dimensional extra terrestrial un-biological entities helping us. remember what i said about living in hope? well heres a prime example of living in hope.

Actually Killer, our star in the film isn’t turning into a dwarf… I think you’ll find that it was just a solar flar shooting in the wrong direction causing what happened in the film to happen.
