I hated this mission, and here's why. It makes no frickin' sense! Lets think about the story here for a second… you are playing as Allen, who was sent to be undercover in order to take down Makarov. The mission begins with Allen standing BEHIND Makarov and his associates, with an enormous machine gun in hand. What is preventing him from popping all four of them in the head before they kill a single civilian?! I mean sure, he probably would have taken a bullet or two himself in the process, but any marine would know that its worthwhile to save hundreds of civilian lives. But no, instead of doing anything to stop this massacre, you play along. Why? Whats the motivation? To get to Makarov?! you already got to Makarov! He's right frickin there! KILL HIM! It makes no sense, and thats why this mission should have never existed… not because of the stupid airport violence. BTW, if you haven't yet, try to kill him. They're invulnerable, they turn around and shoot you calling you traitor. ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** Lame.
You have a point
November 16, 2009 at 8:51 pm #50206Domba_carMemberI don't have the game and don't know the story but I think IW put it there for fun, to kill stress, to be a bad guy and kill a bunch of people in an airport cause you want to. It may be stupid but I would play it if I'm really mad or stressed out.

Wow. Beautiful..
this is a perfect description, makes sense, and has a valid point. Your right, the story doesnt make any sense as it is, so why do this mission? This game is so damn linear, you cant really choose what you want to do.
BigWoop – your awesome.
November 16, 2009 at 10:46 pm #50228gow2rulesMemberalso you have to consider the age rating 18+ , this game is made for adults so fair credit to ifinity ward treating us gamers like proper reasonable adults than snot faced kids . the mission is vital to the story as whats occurs in this mission causes the events after it
basically after you die you are framed for the terrorist actions and therefore give Russia the reason to invade USA as they believe that the terrorist attack was funded by americans because as i said before your body is left behind
also who here can honestly say they are over 18 the recommended age
November 16, 2009 at 10:46 pm #50230monkeymoobsMemberthis mission was probably added for a bit of publicity and is hard as nails when the riot police arrive i agree with bigwoop he should have just blasted makerov and sacrificed himself he was screwed anyway
November 16, 2009 at 10:57 pm #50232kingofgames73Memberif you dont like the level dont play it, simples. however i think the media attention is unneccesary for the reason that previous people hve mentioned, there are movies which are a lot more gory/disturbing than this, also the gore is as fake as it gets on MW2 (thats the one thing Treyarch got right imo).

November 16, 2009 at 11:44 pm #50238Atomic-GMemberits just a game at the end of the day i couldnt careless about this mission as your not harming real people; but as parnakas said some people dont like the thought of killing fellow civillians in a game, so its their own opinion but i do think the goverment especialy the british goverment do lke to pick up on these sort of things and make a issue, but usally the issue just helps promote/advertise the game.
Also my 7 year old nephew wants this game after watching his other uncle play the game i myself am completly against this i believe hes to young to see this sort of violence in a video games especialy in a video game where your asked to kill civilians; and the goverment do know people as young as my nephew get to play the game and they know that it can corrupt the mind of the youth.
so althought i opened saying i dont care about it, but when children as young as 7 possibly younger want to play it thats where i draw the line and dont agree to this sort of missions.
November 17, 2009 at 1:25 am #50242parnakasMemberdo i like the level? No.
Do i think it is necessary? No.
Do i think the media attention it is getting is good? No. Video games do not deserve to be criticized, as there are movies that are far worse than video games.. But i guess the media just loves to complain.
Am i glad IW put it as a optional level? Yes.

Yeah i was thinking the EXACT thing when i watched the mission on youtube. It is very unneccary both story wise and that it can be offensive. It just seems like a pointless mission and was probably done for publicity :P.
November 17, 2009 at 2:03 am #50250gow2rulesMembersome very good points in this and i'm just saying that you do not get the full picture of this level unless you play the game
it all comes down to context

November 17, 2009 at 8:29 am #50281emdeepeeMemberKinda reminds me of the shit storm that came when Gangsta rap broke out in the 90's. You can show violence on TV and in the movies. You can write all about it too, but you sure as shit can't rap about it!! And now apparently you can't play it as an interactive medium.
IT'S JUST ENTERTAINMENT. It doesn't make us bad people.
November 17, 2009 at 2:48 pm #50287BigWoopMagazineMemberadding on to my previous comment:
I understand the context of the mission, and how it sets up for the rest of the story line. The fact is that it doesn't make sense from the very beginning. What they should have done is given a good reason for keeping Makarov alive, and following him. What would have done this? Move the snow level thats before this mission, and shift it so that you play it after the airport terminal instead of before. If they still needed to get that ACS, they would have had perfectly legitimate reasons for leaving Makarov alive until they could recover the device, since that basically allowed the russians to hack past the american defense system. Then it would have been the weight of hundreds of thousands of lives vs a few hundred people.

Please replay the game only up to the the snow blizzard mission and do not skip any of the loading screen intel as i does tell you why you follow him and do not kill him their and then but incase you dont want to this is whats happening and why you dont kill him.
Firstly private allen has been promoted to task force 141 to do a under cover mission to find out what makarov is trying to do
Secondly General shepard says during the intel the cost of thousands of lives will go to waste but this is a small portion of what will go to waste if you dont do this (not percious words but roughly the same)
Thirdly you kill the civilians trying to earn turst with makarov you not trying to kill him your trying to get closer to his plans to start another war like zakhiev (forgotten how to spell is name) did in call of duty: modern warfare so the big machine gun ou have in your hand is not intended to be a weapon is it in somewhat of a way representing justice and freedom to americans.
Finaly the mission you get caught anyway so i do agree with you why do they call you a traitor if they already know you are, but then again they want to leave you alive as you are what your trying to get to you are the cause of the entire war in modern warfare 2
PS i read over this and it does seem like im kind of argueing with you but im not it may seem it but im not im just passing information what you may have not known and may have cleared things up for you
November 17, 2009 at 9:24 pm #50298KnoxieMemberomg.. this just seems a way of saying MW2 story is bad.. which it defo ISNT.
yes we see a few of yous agree, its a pointless mission, doesnt fit in blah blah blah but for once its a change! im sure someone said in another thread a while back, “wouldnt being on the other side (like this mission) be good instead of always rescuing the civilians”. why dont yous all stop moaning, its ONE mission which you can SKIP! who cares!
