Robin Hood.
Crap. That is all.
Is there a reason behind the “Crap” comment? or is that just an opinionated “Crap”?
I just really wasn't a fan of it. I just found it boring overall. I always thought Robin Hood was such a joyous fable, and then this movie comes out, and turns everything way to serious. If you like that kinda serious stuff, then I'm sure you'll like it, and there was a few good action scenes, but other than that, its really not that interesting. Crowe is really bad in this movie, it looks like he hated the role, or hated the director. However, Cate Blanchett was very good imo. She stole the show.
But overall, I just didn't enjoy the movie.
How could he hate the director when the two both did Gladiator prior to this? Honestly, their relationship is what made that movie a classic for everyone to remember. And to be honest, noone really gives a damn about Robin Hood jumping around in his tights anymore, old news been there done that. You seriously could have interpreted that the movie would have been a more serious approach just from the trailer alone. It really shouldn't have been a surprise.
May 19, 2010 at 10:26 pm #62009parnakasMemberW4R – I knew the movie would be more serious, but honestly, I just think that was a bad move. Robin Hood doesn't work as a serious film for me personally.
And Maybe Crowe developed an inner hatred for the director since gladiator.. You don't know that. I'm not saying he did, or does hate the director, but it was just my observation. And yes, Gladiator is an awesome movie.

Robin Hood is their 5th film together so I doubt that
May 20, 2010 at 12:17 am #62012Ratchet525MemberRobin Hood. I loved it. Thats all.
@Parnakas, Maybe its serious because this is the story before he becomes an outlaw and steals from the rich and gives to the poor.
May 20, 2010 at 1:03 am #62014I773D33MABL3MemberI haven't seen the latest Robin Hood so I won't weigh in on the argument as to whether it's good or bad. But my gut reaction is to agree with Parn.
Robin Hood is a romantic character, he's always portrayed as a knight in shining armour for the poor. While I don't agree with re-treading old ground and making the same movie several times, if you're going to re-write a character entirely then it's not going to go down well with quite a lot of people.
The trend I'm picking up on at the moment (from reviewers, not you guys) is dismissing the previous incarnation of Robin Hood as camp and Kevin Costner as a bit of a lady-boy. (Even Crowe is bashing it, the guy is a good actor but he's an arsehole in real life.) Yet at the time of release that film went down a storm and people saw it as the definitive version.
I may be blown away by the new movie but I doubt it. From what I've seen and read it seems to be another by-the-numbers action movie with a Robin Hood façade to give it some depth. Still, I'm open to being converted.

Iron man 2 was absolute shite. I was being force fed stupid.
The dialogue was nothing but waffle which went on for far too long, and generally went nowhere.
The plot, if you can call it that, was nonsense. Convoluted nonsense. If it wasn't for Scarlett Johansson I would have walked out.
If you want action, watch Die Hard. Iron Man is somewhat lacking. With the exception of the last half an hour or so, there was far far too little.
It goes for almost 40 minutes without so much as an explosion or car being tossed into the air. Daytime TV is more exciting.
Gah.
I agree with you in some parts.
Definitely too much dialogue, the plot was weak, main bad guy sucked(not Mickey Rourke but the villain),Scarlett didn't have much of a role and some parts were very boring.
Overall 7.5/10
May 20, 2010 at 11:19 pm #62062parnakasMember@Ratchet – I don't care what the reason is.. I just found the movie too dull, and too dark. Not dark as in plot-wise, but dark as in scenery. I mean, would a few bright colors hurt the mood?
Anyway, I'm not saying that it is a bad movie, I can see some people liking it, but overall, its just another modern-day action movie.. except with “Robin Hood” (although not really robin hood…) as the main character. Nothing spectacular happens at all. No surprises.

Ok.. thats just stupid to say. The whole movie looks like it was shot in greyscale. It is appropriate for some movies, but I don't think it was appropriate for this movie.
My main point is that this movie was nothing special, not even good imo, as it pretty much tried to re-invent the Robin Hood character.
May 21, 2010 at 3:20 am #62072I773D33MABL3MemberI think Parn is trying to say that the film was given a wash with the old fag-ash filter. No primary colours, no warmth, just muted and drab.
Some directors seem to think that making everything miserable to look at somehow makes it more real.
Again, I haven't seen the movie so I'm talking generally.
I did, however, watch The Proposition the other day. i ordered it at random and was pretty happy I did. It's a slow burner but still has a healthy dose of the bloody stuff. The cast are perfect and the music is one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a while.
May 22, 2010 at 1:39 pm #62100gow2rulesMembersaw Harry Brown not as good as i thought it would be still Michael Caine gave a top notch performance
the story just didn't really grip me ,plus i felt there where a few plotholes and ending was pretty standard stuff looks hopeless then he prevails with some help
when will these villians learn to search their desposed foe's of their hidden weapons and phones
on a side not a got a damned parking ticket because of this movie so that reduced my enthusiasm for this movie after coming out
May 22, 2010 at 6:00 pm #62103parnakasMemberWatched Blow with Johnny Depp.. Pretty good i guess. Reminds me too much of Goodfellas though.

It was pretty intense.
May 23, 2010 at 12:21 am #62107I773D33MABL3MemberWhy bring that kind of crap up? Nobody minds a bit of adult humour but there's still such a thing as bad taste.
