I saw that myself and thought it was excellent. They managed to continue the style of Craig's previous two films but managed to give it a much more traditional “Bond” feel.
November 5, 2012 at 12:32 am #72463gr8jrfanMemberI just saw Argo today and it was pretty good. There were no scenes that really draaaaaggggeddd it out and affected the pace, the last scene was also suspenseful as sh!t. The acting was actually pretty decent too. There was one bit of dialogue that almost made me laugh in the theater was when Ben Affleck was like, “I'll be the director” then John Goodman said, “No way you'll be the director. You look more like a producer, no, assistant producer!” Then Ben Affleck looked really offended. Awesome… Can't believe the UK peeps get to see Skyfall early! Have to wait til the 9th at least!

Both films were hyped, and both didn't live up to it.
Saw Skyfall during the Sunday that past and hate me if you want, but I thought it wasn't that great. I was bored during certain scenes and the plot wasn't that interesting. Seriously?? Skyfall wasn't a BIG deal like they made it out to be in the trailers and if you take our a line of dialogue and change the location of the finale, it could've been called 007 Rises for all I cared.
The shots were great and extradionary in IMAX but the action was never heart-pounding. It felt like the script wasn't even finished and was for a different 007 film unpresented in this. Speaking of the script, it's essentially The Dark Knight Rises… And definitely done better. Bond in a lot of ways was a mixture between Max Payne and Bruce Wayne. Having been drinking in a slow depressed-type state while being broken and having to rise up and take down the villian wanting to destroy his agency.
Actors were great and Javier Bordam was perfect, wishing the film was more of him. Saying that, his motivations weren't that compelling nor interesting. And the hell?? You're an agent of MI6 wanting to kill your handler because you were being tortured because again, you're an MI6 agent? Whatever.
The soundtrack… I don't have much to say about this since I don't even remember a particular track. Perhaps one from the trailer, but that doesn't count.
Tried to love this film, but sadly couldn't. It never passes the bar Casino Royale set, feeling like an unworthy successor in a lot of ways. While in everyway better than Quantum of Solace, it's certainly not the best that Bond has to offer.

We'll always disagree on movie choice. That much I remembered from our conversation/debates but I seem to remember one factor that you brought up that nearly brought me to tears of laughter. Is Skyfall too mainstream?

I guess? But I also guess you didn't also get the point as to why I didn't like so much mainstream stuff, at that moment… I hyped the film up along with The Dark Knight Rises with both being less than stellar, although Skyfall was certainly better than Rises…
And that factor was from a discussion about The Walking Dead…
November 24, 2012 at 12:55 am #72531scotty243MemberSaw Looper, End of Watch, Easy A, and Ill Manors yesterday and I very well must say, I ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** loved each film. Ill Manors has to be the top of the heap and probably the best that has been released this year!!! I have to praise Ben Drew for having the balls to do this project because it tackles some hard hitting themes.
End of Watch was thoroughly enjoyable and really explored how tough it is to be a cop in gang infested areas of Los Angeles. And I really enjoyed the last 20 minutes! Heart racing, sad, and action packed. And I really enjoyed the ending, it shows that it's not always a good guys win in the end. Hell, there is never an end to a conflict.
Looper was fcuking awesome and the ending was great! I have nothing else to say but I really loved this film, alot!!
And last but not least, Easy A. I actually enjoyed it alot, besides that musical number at the end I thought this would be shit, I didn't think it was and had fun with it.
November 25, 2012 at 11:11 pm #72534HardAndSloppyMemberI saw There Will Be Blood for the first time. Holy Crap Daniel Day-Lewis has to be the best actor of our generation. I thought the story sounded kinda lame, but it was somehow one of the most entertaining movies I've seen. Must have been his amazing acting

TWBB looked kinda boring but the praise I've heard for it suggests otherwise. Shall check it out.
Currently watching CITADEL as I'm typing this. It's ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** crazy, I think. The story is interesting and the main actor is top notch. He may not be a big name in cinema, but he makes the film. The atmosphere is so ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** creepy, it's unbelieveable. It's set somewhere in the UK, I believe from what I read, but if anyone here has seen the film, please PM me or something to let me know where it is so I won't visit that locale
Finished CITADEL and I really liked the film. I wished it got the recognition it deserves as I believe this could hold cult status. If you're looking for something creepy or entirely original to watch, check this out.
January 20, 2013 at 11:43 pm #72745scotty243MemberSaw the critically acclaimed – Academy award nominee Zero Dark Thirty earlier today and holy hell, this movie is awful. I don't have the words to describe this mess and those critics who are solely dick riding this film because of the names behind the project as well as the actual event, should be ashamed of theirselves. This is the first film that actually made me walk out of the theater and ask for a refund. The characters all suck and with some of the events happening in the film, I question if these people seriously did what occured because if so, some of these people are ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** retarded. I'm sorry, call me ignorant or whatever, but there's one scene in particular where a CIA operative lets a high level threat into an Army base in Pakistan, lets go of standard protocol procedures, and gets more than 15 men killed, and she ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** knew he was a high level level threat to security. Along with that, some (or even most) of the dialogue in this film was just terrible. It didn't make me cringed in my seat, but it was seriously bad. Oh, and how some of the characters deliver their lines was just terrible as well – Even delivering Shakespearean-type performances when they give shitty one liners. Maybe the actors couldn't do much with the script or something, but I couldn't help but laugh in the theater. Also, this is the first time a movie has actually made me feel uncomfortable. I honestly couldn't sit in that theater watching bombs constantly blow within a 10 minute time frame. With that, I know the plot of this film and the actual events span quite some time, but they never actually explain what the hell is actually happening in the film. I don't know who some of these guys are, for all I know, they could've been looking for Count Chocula. I know the main target is Bin Laden, but they never go into detail with who is working for him that they want and when they do, it's a convoluted mess with just babble throughout.
Call me ignorant because I'm “young” and still have life that needs to be living – Call me stupid or whatever you want, but I hated this film so much. The ONLY film to have made me walk out of a theater and ask for a refund. I'm sorry for those who were affected by the actual events, I truly am, but this film does no justice whatsoever in honoring those that were lost. I didn't go in expecting to get the “real” story, it's ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** Hollywood, but you can at least make me feel a bit sympathetic about the characters and for me to understand both sides or something. I don't know, hate me if you want, I apologize for my actions and such. There's just so much bad about this film and much more to talk about, it's not even funny. Again, I apologize but I just can't let this slip past me and have you guys waste your hard-earned dollar and precious time on such a waste of potential.
***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** THIS MOVIE

January 28, 2013 at 9:54 pm #72831scotty243MemberWatched Dredd last night, and I couldn't help but have a smile the entire time. I enjoyed the hell out of this film and would love to have seen this in 3D as some of the scenes, I think, would look pretty sick on the big screen. Hopefully a sequel gets greenlit, this is the type of movie I'd want to just have fun in. I don't have much more to say that would otherwise “spoil” the experience and that it's just a fun film. To be honest, I actually enjoyed this film more than those awful summer blockbusters that arrived (The Avengers was good, but Dredd would kick their asses!!). And whoever says Batman is better, Judgement is Coming
Also started up The Bourne Legacy which should've been called The BORING Legacy as I immediately shut it off 40 minutes in. I couldn't help but stand up and walk around my house since the plot was either nonexistent or just uninteresting with some lazy script writing, I thought. Also, the cameraman was hopped up on coke for once since the camera wasn't all over the place like the previous films, although the intensity of bureaucracy was present in those films Seriously though, this film is lazy, it didn't need to be made at all. This is ZDT or anything but this definitely deserves all the shit it gets since it's uninteresting, uninspiring, and just underdeveloped. Who the hell thought this should've been greenlit?!
