You would have to copy all the data from your old Ps3 onto a external HDD then back onto your new PS3… Just like RB… But you would need to get your old one fixed to be able to do this anyway…

Takes ages (depending on amount of GB) —> massive pain. But it would copy everything over….

would that definetely work? i thought it wouldnt back up psn games onto another ps3 due to activations and copyright etc?

I've backed up my data a couple of times when replacing HDDs and it definitely works. Everything goes across even game data so you don't have to re-install everything.

PSN games need to be re-downloaded.

Remember to disable your account on the old PS3 so you don't use up one of your five lives.

Yes (I think it should, lol) – If you check, Rock Band1 save data is copy protected, but it will transfer with a “system back-up”

> “system restore” I had to do this once…

If you wanna know i could find out the definitive terms & precise way to do it, as I'm just writing this from memory of old…

(sorry bout all the posts guys) i was thinking of doing this earlier but i believe it will probably be the heat gun method which i think i'll avoid because i believe that that is only a temporary problem, but technically ive decided i only need a temporary solution, so i'll look into it and see if it pays off but from what ive seen its cheaper to get it repaired 3rd company with a 6 month warranty get what i want then sell ye olde phat

damn thats what i feared, ive got a lot of accounts to deactivate to make sure no one ive GSed with lose out on anything….ah well at least i'll be able to speak over my ps3 fans from now on i guess

just a quick update, i shall be getting a repair on my ps3 via 3rd party company over easter after i come back from China, looks like it was a good thing i didnt pre order FFXIII and BFBC2…after i get the repair i'll be getting a new ps3 slim for my birthday on the 28th of april, and will try the transfer thingy-doodle.
