Hey guys , as we all know , the major kick ass game BATMAN : ARKHAM ASYLUM just released and i must say , i started it , and didnt stop . Its amazingly good , more than i expected and hard to put down as mentioned , so i figured i might just run you guys through a little review and maybe for the ones that cant really figure to buy it or not , i can convince you . First things first :
Fighting System : Smooth and easy to pick up , the fighting system easily features 4 buttons , each with a unique response . Square is to chain your attacks while Triangle is Counter . Simple enough , tapping X wil make you jump over enemies and Circle is used as a great stun to link your combos , and will also come in handy for enemies later on . Also when you fill in a combat bar , you will be able to upgrade gadgets such as your Batarang , aswell as others . There are 20 Upgrades in total .
Story : Dont worry , i wont go to far to spoil . I figured to enter this for those who find the story a bit unclear . Basically after capturing the Joker for the 500th time , he manages an escape ( as seen in demo ) . Now that the Joker has the warden hostage , Batman isnt leaving till he puts Joker down , dwelling you truly into the heart of Arkham . Later on , the story takes a great dramatic turn , but like i said , no spoilers .
Collectors Edition Review : I bought the Collectors Edition and i must say , it truly is badass . It goes for about 100 $ and based on your level of support ( meaning a die hard fan or not ) Its totally worth it . Heres what it includes :
– 14 Inch replica batarang : Not metal , but includes scratches making it real as possible .
– 2 Disk Game with sleeve case .
– Exclusive Crime Alley Challenge map
– Journal including Bios on all characters : Very Useful
Overall : If i could give it 100/10 i would , but this deffinately gets a full rating . Im in a good 3/4 quarters of the game , and cant wait to play it over . Boss battles are fun and Riddler Trophies add frustration , Oh joy ! . So thats it guys , hoped you liked it lol . Also , if anyone finds an online guide for Riddler Maps (which reveal secret trophies ) please do post here to help me and others .

August 27, 2009 at 2:26 pm #40829BigWoopMagazineMemberIndeed… some of those riddler puzzles are stumpers… or maybe I'm just not too bright…
August 27, 2009 at 4:21 pm #40848parnakasMemberI found that the ending was kinda predictable, no real surprises in the game, story-wise.
I wish the combat evolved more, instead of just being the same moves, and i wish you could pull off some finishers.
Those Riddler challenges are pretty tricky. I got stumped on most of them.
I wish there was some variations in the missions, its always “Find This”.
It is a great game. A must-buy.

I know this won't help everybody but this months PSM3 comes with a book that has 100% Riddler challenges guide.

Thanks for the heads up but I'll pass,,, I'm glad for some challenging puzzles for once in a game,,, I feel like a lot of game puzzles lately are simplistic and assume the general public is stupid. It may take me a while, but I will figure them out on my own!
August 27, 2009 at 7:58 pm #40905W4RG34R3D_SN1P3RMemberAs long as you read your comics your good , if someone can get a guide of all the riddler maps atleast you ll know generally where they are , although a guide of the Spirits of arkham would be better .

lol I just got that a few minutes ago XD It also has tips for the challenge rooms in it and a boss guide. Won't read it though until I've actually played the game. I don't want to spoil it.
August 27, 2009 at 8:46 pm #40907Haza12Memberhaha according to the PSM3 review of Batman, it all gets a bit “Hideo Kojima” towards the end…
August 27, 2009 at 10:38 pm #40914BigWoopMagazineMemberyes the game is very story oriented, which is done very well (so far, I'm about halfway). LOTS of dialogue, which I'm enjoying. There are quite a few scenes where as you sneak up on different enemies, they're having extensive conversations about whatever is going on at the time. One in particular a thug is having a conversation with the joker that lasts for what feels like 5 minutes. You can end it anytime with a sneak attack, or wait it out… I was being patient with some of these and listening, but I've gotten to a point where I just wanna keep going. Still a cool feature though
August 27, 2009 at 10:58 pm #40917NinjaMidgetMembercant wait for this, waking up early tommorrow so i can get it!

I havent tried any in the Med Facility, but after those, im done.
August 28, 2009 at 2:28 am #40957P0kennyMemberI got mine today, Haven't put it down since 11am… Well for food and shit, but I put it down at 11pm 😛 I love days off work. Anyhow I am now what I think is the last boss battle… Not entierly sure if it is or not.
However I am having fun with the combat, it is extreamly easy, but if you button bash it does become extreamly hard. I've been doing the game in Easy, and so far I have died at least 20 times… Most of which were with the scarecrow…. Where I think, can I move… Yeah I can… crap never mind “Retry”.
