Wow if you claim that I'm getting mad thats just weird, why would I waste my energy. Instead of trying to label me maybe think before you type. You made a thread to discuss cross game voice chat and other features right? you then claim to know everything and won't be told any differently so don't act like a know it all and problem solved since you created the thread, there was no point if you think you know what they are going to do or should do. I'm open to discuss the topic just don't act like a know it all as none of us know what sony have planned, I've said my piece and I'm still willing to discuss it with you just don't think you can tell me what to do and think I won't react.

I think it would be pretty easy for Sony to release a Firmware DL to individual Ps3 consoles… Just like they've been able to ban individual consoles. Through code redeem or something, giving access for the new firmware? Then after a year or whatever, it would prompt you to enter another code or force a FW down-grade to the standard srvs?

In a Firmware update for the UK last year i was able to get BBC i-player but others in diff. parts of the UK didn't. I remember someone from Ireland (i think) telling me they would Sony would never release I-player only for parts of the UK and not it all… After i had DL the firmware… So it's not like Sony can't bring out diff. firmware's with diff. features.

Time will tell i suppose? But i think i'm right, lol

I think your right Doc, it seems the most logical route they would take if they don't want to introduce a premium service but still have premium features for purchase.

No it wouldn't because all they would do is have the paid DLC to use it and they could have a firmware update but not let people use it till they pay. It's a pointless feature anyway so I hope they spend their time on something more worthwhile.

This wasn't a dumb post, just not that straight forward…. I think what Miiiitch meant was that Sony would bring out a new firmware for everyone, but have perhaps a new options list in the PsN store for “premium” services or whatever. You wouldn't actually be DL anything except an “unlock code” because your Ps3 would already have the ability to do it anyway.

Similar to when games (Res. Evil 5, AC2, Soul Cal.) have locked content, but it would be your Ps3…

**EDIT**

This option would also save the need of a FW down-grade as the feature's would simply “lock” themselves again. It seems like a much easier system to work with, but Sony have a history of trying new thing's, only to go a little “tit's-up”

Bingo Doc, sorry if you couldn't understand tatoo but thats basically what I meant. It was early here and I had to work thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol.

I think they're saving new features for the premium service. I didn't think we'd get an update until they implement the premium service, but then I don't think anyone could have predicted that they would remove the “other OS” feature. I have a slim so it didn't effect me. I still don't think we'll see another update until the premium service, unless it has something to do with maintaining security. If you've been on the playstation blog, where people can vote in for what they want the most, you can probably figure out what features we will be paying for in the premium service. That whole website screams “tell us what you want so we can figure out how much to make you pay for it”. Which is okay with me, since we've had it pretty damn good with the free stuff so far. Not paying to be online is letting me buy another 2 games a year.

screw the premium service, im not gunna pay for it

but I didn't really care for this update. Never used linux or an other OS feature.

I will go with the premium but only if it will be worth my hard get money :D.

I never used other OS on my PS3 so I just do not care about the recent update.

But it still sux a little that not much was added/implemented with new patch :(.
