well i was wondering about admin's policy regarding forums…
i don't understand what it is that gets some topics locked or deleted.
tbh , its the quality of the people on this site that attracts me here , as you must be aware that other sites post trophy lists before you do , so i'd like to know why?
why did you let the Lets Talk thread go out of hand with crazy theories but lock a topic like Domba-Car 's 'Hello' ? i must say i'm confused , why not just delete the Off Topic section altogether if you don't want this type of 'chat' thread to develop. i would have imagined you'd enjoy having people on your site this regularly though.
fair enough , this isn't a chatroom , but i would have thought you'd enjoy having created a type of community around here that is not present on other such sites. after all , just like with the Trophy List threads , people have the choice to go into a forum or not.
just want to know so i can figure whether or not this place still is of any interest to me.
ps. i'm still be thankful for your work regardless of that…
May 13, 2009 at 7:18 pm #25711Atomic-GMemberi know what you mean also he should unlck the lets talk thread since killer has gone and he was the only one who was arguing so i dont see no point of it still being locked and i personaly think admin should let people who he trusts and goes on the site near enough everyday to run it aswell since its got to be hard running all this on person
May 13, 2009 at 7:25 pm #25715kingawolMemberi understand he runs the site , and that the Lets Talk thread had stuff people could find insulting.
but some others had nothing but jokes in them and got deleted…or locked. i'd just like to know what admin deems acceptable for HIS site . then i can decide if that suits me. but it is HIS site.
May 13, 2009 at 7:46 pm #25717tridonMemberWell, since I have started two threads that have been deleted and/or locked, I figured I'd get in on this.
First off, this is a great site. It has helped me immensely in completing games and figuring out trophies. The help that this site gives PS3 owners was my original reason for coming here. For that, I would like to give a huge thanks to the Admin. I can't imagine how much work goes into this site and for the fact that he does this is on his own time with his own money is highly generous. So Mr. Admin, thank-you.
Now, as for the discussion at hand, I can understand that you don't want this to be a chat room. That is fine. However, when you have a section titled “Off Topic” and someone makes a thread in that section that is off topic where nothing wrong is happening and everyone is having fun, why close it? Is that not what “Off Topic” is for? My reason to be on here everyday is to interact with the wonderful community of people that have gathered under you on your site and forum. I've seen arguments, insults and racial slurs on here in threads that have lasted longer than one that is full of friendly banter and jokes. That to me doesn't make much sense. Is it because of your “Bronze/Silver/Gold” system on here that you don't want continuous posts from members? If that's the case, why not just let that system go? I honestly have never paid any attention to it. I just find fun to joke around with everyone.
If chatting through threads is really such a big problem, is there anyway a chat room could be added to the site? This would keep the community around and happy at the same time. I for one don't want to go to any other sites because, like I've stated in an earlier thread I created, this site really does have the best bunch of people I have ever seen.
I'm not trying to attack you here or anything because I REALLY do respect the work you do around here. However, a breakdown of what each section contained within your forum is for would be appreciated. I mean, when you look at all the sections, half of them almost seem like they're for the same topics. I can see why new people on here (which I relatively still am) would get confused of where and what to post. I don't want to go anywhere else but if this forum is going to be so tight-knit and 'hush-hush', I may have to. Thanks, Admin!
May 13, 2009 at 7:48 pm #25718kingawolMemberglad to see i'm not the only one that feels that way.
May 13, 2009 at 8:00 pm #25719BigWoopMagazineMemberI'm new here, and was wondering myself what the rules are. I seem to get away with cursing quite a bit (I don't try to, I'm just naturally foul mouthed). But I have gotten my topics locked on other sites quite easily (one in particular, I was on sony's site and compared ps3 to xbox, and immediately got locked out), and would prefer to know whats cool and whats not so my disussions don't get ended that way.
May 13, 2009 at 9:05 pm #25725KnoxieMemberyeh same here, i wanted 2 post in that 1 word game but i didnt get a chance! it looked mint as well!
May 13, 2009 at 9:07 pm #25726Domba_carMemberyea, why did he lock my Hello?? by the way you can just write Domba's
May 13, 2009 at 9:24 pm #25730PS3 TrophiesKeymasterI try not to lock threads too often, out of 700+ threads there's just a handful that has been locked. It's only when they get way off topic (And yes a thread can get off topic even if it's located in the “off topic” section 😉 ) or contain posts people might find insulting.
At the moment “one word games” and similar threads are treated as “post boosting” threads. Even if that wasn't the intention of the creator of the thread.
I'll look into adding a forum (or some kind of chat) just for word games and extremely off topic chatting where posts aren't counted. There you can go bananas if you wish 🙂
May 13, 2009 at 9:29 pm #25733kingawolMemberok , fair enough , but most of us dont really care about post boosting…
so adding a Community Chat section could be cool.
May 13, 2009 at 10:14 pm #25754parnakasMemberi cant believe i missed out on the 1 word game……
but if admin adds a community chat section… holy crap..this site will be even better!!!

A “Community Chat” would be much obliged, good sir. Oh, and for the record, “post boosting” for never, ever an intention of mine.
May 14, 2009 at 1:23 am #25784P0kennyMemberI made that one word game thing because I thought it would be cool and funny. Why did you lock it? Was their any need? No one cares about ‘post boosting’ and even if we did care about post boosting… Why do you care if people do? As long as it is in off topic, it should be fine…
May 14, 2009 at 2:05 am #25786shadeblackParticipanthere's an idea for the admin.
On another forum i go to, they have a spam section where people post anything and everything. The good thing about it though, is that the posts in that section don't count towards your total post count.
perhaps you can change the off-topic posts do this? this would resolve the post-boosting issue that nearly every forum faces.
as for the others, I accept that there will be some threads you will close. And I'm not about to argue either!
I think people are being a tad bit harsh on the Admin here at the moment. he's closing threads because he deems them unsuitable for the site. it's his decision to do this, and I don't think anyone should try to change his mind.
May 14, 2009 at 5:02 am #25790HypnosisMemberYea i never understood why people would boost their post count. Its not like you get anything special for having high amount of posts. It doesnt say to anyone that “wow he must know what he is talking about,he has 1000 posts” Regular visitors to a site know who the people are that know what they are talking about and the people who are most helpful, regardless of post count.
Just my opinion.
For the record. Although the one word game was fun. I am really suprised it lasted as long as it did. Also the Hawx:team deathmatch thread. What was up with that one? I went in there not expecting to find another one word game, but there one was lol.
Keep up the great work on the site Admin.
