Yeah i do admit online shooters can have their fun parts but they do get boring quickly for me. I much prefer how it was in the old days. Having a bunch of mates over playing together sipping on some cold ones having a real blast. Playing online takes that social fun factor out of it.
I have yet to play MW2 online. lol
I couldn't agree more man. Competing with strangers pales in comparison to playing in the same room as your mates. It's the reason that I only ever really play online with my brother (the troublesome Mojo!!) or my house-mate Gnilsia.
I tried keeping an eye on my (lowly) position on the leader-boards for about two weeks and in that short time gaming became a stress-out.
It's one of the reasons I like to play PC games as well. No trophies. I play on whatever difficulty I want and ignore the game modes I don't like.

MemberTo be honest i don't really get the trophy whore gotta be no 1 aspect of gaming… It seems rather sad and screams some sort of insecurity in their mind that they gotta 100% – be no. 1.
It's almost laughable that people give away massive portions of their life to something that is nothing more than virtual gratification. Does your life not give you more than gaming does?
I guess life is diff. to everyone but being a trophy whore sucks. I know that a level of ability that i do not have is also needed and i would never deny that. That i would congratulate you on… But loosing touch on what is real i would not,to say you put your family second is on the point of shocking.
I could prob. push myself harder for trophies, as i could in life general… But i know i don't need to because i'm happy in myself, without anything.
Trophy whore's unite… Then piss off you no lifer F*cks… Well done for sorting your priority's in your head, however late and misplaced… This is one thing i hate about trophys – how they can take over someone's good thinking.

you should never put your family, wife in second because of a hobby or work.@ Doc-B – I’m not defending some peoples but it’s easy to assume that a so-called Trophy Whore is a no lifer without knowing them. I agree that alot seems to do nothing other than collecting trophies, especially those in Top 50 but i’ll never say that they don’t have any life at all.

I don't feel like i got to be #1. I like the self satisfaction of getting 100% in a game. Thats why i like to maintain a 100% profile, purely for self satisfaction.
I am happy within myself Doc, i just let the addiction i had for collecting trophies get out of hand, much like any other sort of addiction. Be it drugs, work or trophies.
Yes Doc i made a very big mistake, one that i am making up for now.
I still love to collect trophies and get another great collection up with all my games at 100%, but it is all for fun now. The leaderboards are a waste of time and money. Take it from someone who knows first hand.
And also, i have had a life during my chase in the top 25. Like InsomniacKiller said we weren't all no-lifers.

October 5, 2010 at 5:14 am #67034MemberWell as some of you may know i went back to my Oz account after 2 months break. This didnt cause a problem and i made Final Fantasy 13 my 100th Platinum. Now though i have decided to start a brand spanking new account. There are several things ill be doing differently this time. I won't have any duplicate trophy sets (At least for now lol) I'll be playing mostly offline games. But when i do play a multiplayer game i'll grind it until it is done and not put it off! I'll be testing games im unsure about before having them on my list, something i didn't do for Pain or Trash Panic. Platinums that i will redo are….Fallout 3, Batman, Uncharted, Bioshock, Trine, 3D Dot Game Heroes, All 3 GoWs, Borderlands, Darksiders, Dead Space, Demons Souls, Infamous and Final Fantasy 13. Who wants to wager how long it will take me to do them? 🙂

October 5, 2010 at 6:14 am #67036MemberIt wasn't for nothing, I got 100 Platinums and i was the first to do so in Australia (My Country). I'll still keep my Oz account, im just starting another to please my obsessive compulsive completionist side 🙂 As long as im gaming im happy.

Alot of times im grinding through things just for a stupid trophy or to go up an incomplete leaderboard with cheaters on it, and not playing games for enjoyment. Still though if i had an account with over 100 plats every time i platted a game on another account i would want/wish it was on my other account too, but thats just IMO. how in hell did you plat 3d dot game heroes? spelunkeler mode is one mean bitch…

I get more fun and enjoyement from my games now and i find myself enjoying some hidden gems id otherwise not play if it didn't have trophies. I do it mainly for self satisfaction. And because im not fully satisfied im going to make a side PSNID, which i might switch to full time. Yeah 100 Plats is something hard to break free from knowing how much effort and time i poured into those plats, which i enjoyed every minute of. I didn't think Spelunker mode was that hard tbh. Once you get the Tent from one of the wells you can use it just about anywhere to save a respawn point. The only drama is getting through the dungeons unscathed. What was really hard about 3DDGH's was the 2 speed circuits pre-patch. The time to beat for the sword was insane. Great fun though, i'll definetly Re-plat that!
