October 28, 2008 at 6:53 am #19127V8SuperCarsMemberI look forward to HOME, so many good things but a few things i would like to ask for those who had a play or know more info than i do.
Its region locked? so i can only see and talk to friends from my region, so my USA, Canadian, Europe etc friends cannot meet up in HOME or see our clan room etc, this is Uber crap if what i have been told is correct.
Its a program so unless everyone jumps into HOME on your Friends List they dont come up as online in home? the “NEW XBOX EXPERIANCE” is built into the dashboard so when someone is online you can interact with them straight away even if they are in a game or dashboard or watching a movie and dont have to load a program up like say LIFE with Playstation. hope its built into the hardware and not a tacky program we have to load up every time.
and as for the delays it was so laggy before, im kinda happy they held it back and give us a nice clean non laggy version with most features complete,

February 19, 2010 at 7:23 pm #41196Doc-BMemberI can't believe this thread is 2 years old and were still only at the open beta stage, i think; Ain't been on in ages…
I, for one, am disappointed with home… If you wanna spend money on a load of crap and talk sh!t with a load of people then it's fine. I had more fun on the closed Beta speaking with people, cause it wasn't overloaded and every one was interested in the topic… I spent ages talking to a couple of people i'd never met… About games, app's, Diff. between regions etc.
Does anyone actually go there to talk anymore? Does anyone still go there?
I've heard about the new game area's being added and stuff, but I'm normally to busy playing the game. The fact that it's region locked whilst just about everything else isn't, although i understand why, is ridiculous… When it first came on the block i heard rumors of “train stations” that would take you to another regions “Home” – This along with the much anticipated trophy rooms, now, just seem like something to get me to go on in the first place!? To boost traffic figure's and suchlike…
I'm not into social networking, but i like talking to people about Ps3, but it's still missing that “something” to make me go more… If my FL used it then i prob. would more… And complain less, who knows? And i know SONY are still implementing new ideas and innovations all over the board with the Ps3, so it's not like their being lazy…
My main point was about the beta stage though, and how long it's been going on… Does anyone even still care about Home?
*EDIT – Looking back now i've noticed there are a lot of threads on this topic so i'm not sure if this is the best or not, i just picked it at random to post on rather than start a whole new thread.

Theres still loads of problems with Home if you ask me,
1. Queueing to play arcade games is stupid, I can see that the developers are trying to make it real but thats not really a good enough reason.
2.Downloading all the new areas, I dont understand how Home works but it seems wierd that everthing has to be downloaded on my HDD and cannot be streamed to me, maybe Sony should look at having a disc so we dont have to download everything
3.Lag, when you enter a new area it can take up to a minute before my avatar becomes fully responsive, sometimes this happens when there appears to be no-one around me, why is it so slow??
Videos can take soo long to load sometimes, I was waiting for so long just to watch what was basically a glorified ad.
4.One of Homes biggest problems is that it trying to be like real life, but fails. Why cant we run? Why cant we jump?
5.The game engine is able to make nice trees and water and beaches but some of the graphics are very bad (like a rubbish PSN game)
I dont think Home should be viewed as a social networking place, but as something separate that can be enjoyed when you have no other games to play.
As Home is still in the Beta stage I do think that there is still hope for it, but if some changes arent made then I do think it will loss its appeal.
I remember being promised a train to different areas, but I think that it would be a waste of time, but I do think that Sony should say if there is a trophy room coming or if that has been dropped.
Hope this helps!!!!
February 19, 2010 at 10:21 pm #58110BigWoopMagazineMemberWhat I've been wondering for a while is if they plan on charging for Home once its no longer in the “Open Beta” stage. Thats usually what happens – beta's are free, glitches get fixed, then the final version releases for retail. Considering its not that appealing while its free, it'd be stupid, but I could see it happening. I do like the free chess game… thats… about it though.
February 20, 2010 at 1:36 am #58139Doc-BMemberIt would be a pretty bad move to start charging a subscription charge just for the use of Home? Some people will have already spent money on, believe it or not (lol), houses, clothes and furniture… Yet not be prepared to pay to use the service. Could you imagine how many people would just want some sort of refund?
I do however believe that home could be a premium service under the guise of a PSN “gold” service.. I can see sometime in the future SONY rolling out some sort of annual payment scheme. Micro-transactions on Home have been there almost from the start, testing the water as to how many people would buy “tat” (IMO), and to build some sort of revenue… They have now started releasing premium avatars and theme's, accessing the market of users who are not on Home. Rumors of subscription charges for certain online games…
Starting to sound like any other Brand you can think of??
The fantasy of having everything for free was nice, but with the recent “world bank crisis” and SONY being pretty broke, i could def. see a premium service being rolled out soon, but not just for Home… It would be a sad day, but i'd prob. pay for an upgraded service depending for on the price and package, but that's just me…
February 25, 2010 at 8:14 am #58382johnsteveenMemberI have a Wii and one of the big problems is that there is very little interactive online content. If I want to buy an old SNES game, sure, no problem, but if I want to play a card game? Nope. If I want to play a game of pool with someone in Japan? Nope. What about playing a board game like chess or Trivial Pursuit? Nope.
So if Sony can get to THAT point then it is absolutely a game changer.
I would specifically buy a PS3 if the Home-thingy would let me play card games with other online players, and shoot pool, or play a game of Monopoly, etc.
BUT if the entire online exeprience consists entirely of buying clothes from my avatar and randoming texting other people online — then it would be boring and pointless.
