When was this???
I have been online since 4:00 pm (in England) tilll now no probs, so when did the maintenance happen?
June 9, 2010 at 10:29 pm #62469GHOST305Membersince 8 am (EST) for me. Not what that would be for over there, but the website says it will be up by 8pm(EST) although some say that it will be two hours after before we are able to sign in and play online, but I'm not sure about it.

I think it said in the link that anyone online before the “cut-off” time would get the PSN as usual and it's only those trying to get online after that can't…
So don't switch it off if it's on!

June 10, 2010 at 12:07 am #62479pool96MemberI had this but it didn't bother me as it gave me a chance to finish my 18th and final strangers task in Red Dead Redemption, or as I like to call Red Bren Redemption.
The last one I done was “Daedalus & Son” – It is one of the funniest things I've seen in video games.
In case anyone is getting confused with the number of stranger tasks, there is 19 strangers tasks but the “I Know You” task can only be completed before you finish the main story missions. Thankfully, it does not count for 100% completion.

June 10, 2010 at 1:34 am #62488rockinjokerMemberWhat regions are it available in? Apparently not Europa…
August 27, 2010 at 4:56 pm #65893emdeepeeMemberJust to give you a heads up. PSN will be down between 8am and 9pm (BST) on Monday. So get out there and enjoy your Bank Holiday
Bizarrely it does state that you can still play games online even though most other functions will be disabled (I'd have thought it would have affected everything).

Most likely. someone claims to hack the PS3, sony completely freak out, remove loads of features that 'might' allow someone to hack the PS3 (e.g Install Other OS) and spend ages taking down PSN servers. Yay!

It's actually an 'exploit'… The removal of 'Other Os' was to do with a 'hacker' called Geohot, this is something different. The 'Ps3 Jailbreak' basically turns the unit into a 'Debug' console, pretty much a console that can read 'unsigned code'. The PsP died a death after Homebrew, it's not really a good thing…
Yes i think being able to 'hack' games and run emulators is pretty sweet…For nothing more than fun! But not at the cost of games become even more ridiculously priced or the closure of some smaller studios… Not to mention the possible implementation of DRM in all future AAA games etc.
This will only harm the Ps3 community… I'm glad Sony are taking action on this (I hope) and will soon release a FW to 'brick' the offending Ps3's. I can't really believe people are buying this thing, they (Ps3jailbreak.com) would need access to official sony FW to create there own to counteract danger of a ban. New games would come with their own FW's just to try stop this. Are Ps3JB really gonna support this to the end? Australia will decide
People who have bought this without 'homework' will be in for an expensive surprise… I doubt the Ps3 is 'unhackable', but i also doubt this is it…
IMO —> Ps3 Jailbrake = EPIC FAIL ( I hope i'm right for myself and the future of PS3)
Or it might be completely unrelated ??
August 30, 2010 at 2:23 pm #66027I773D33MABL3MemberFcuking Hell, I go away for a few days and when I return, everything is going to shite.
Can someone get me up to date on this “Jailbreak”? Is it a guy, company or mod? I know there's a web address posted here but I err on the side of caution and avoid sites that might get me blacklisted (paranoid much?).
I'm also dead against the idea of the PS3 being hacked. The PSP was on the way down anyway so Sony were always going to have a limited response to that but PS3 is their current flagship and with the possibility of the online aspect being affected by hacking (fcuking it up for everyone) the response will be pretty harsh.
DRM is a stranglehold on PC gaming and it's always going to be one of the first lines of defence to prevent hacking.
