Would you pay full price for Portal 2? As of the minute it looks like Portal 2 is going to be a stand alone game, as much as i enjoyed playing the first one which was on the Orange Box i dont know if i would spend £30-40 on this alone. Any thoughts?

no, i wouldn't pay full price. w8 for it to fall. 😉
August 5, 2010 at 2:40 pm #64789Doc-BMemberI don't think it would be priced at full retail… If it does come out as a stand alone game there would have to be a ton more stuff in it…
Something like the GTA DLC – £15-25 or something perhaps? Even a PSN release?
@ mason – Do you have a link or anything to the page with the info on it?
August 5, 2010 at 3:22 pm #64791mason1182MemberNo was reading about it in a magazine, looks like it is going to have co-op in it aswell. Just the way they are talking about it it doesnt seem like it is going to be a small affair.
August 5, 2010 at 3:51 pm #64792NinjacatMemberMmm, I know what you mean Mason. They're really making it out to be a pretty big game, but I can't really see it being that awesome. I never played the first one, but it always looked interesting.
It is a pretty big release though. It's a valve game and they've never really liked PS. But, they're using PS3 as the main console for Portal, apparently.
August 5, 2010 at 5:03 pm #64802parnakasMemberWell, theres no way I would ever pay full price for Portal 1, as there was just not enough content. With that said, if Portal 2 is a much much much bigger game, I would consider it. But, there would have to be more than just one single-player mode, and they should add some more modes for co-op or multiplayer of some sort, to upgrade the games longevity. While Portal 1 was fun while it lasted, I don't ever see myself returning to the game to play through it like 10 times. They need to add more stuff to the game, but it looks like they are doing that with Portal 2.
If it's a big release, the game will definitely be full-priced. Or maybe it would be the same as 3D Dot Heroes, which only cost $40 compared to the regular $70 for a game. I would probably assume it would be that.
August 5, 2010 at 8:24 pm #64812One-Wnged_AngelMemberIt would be awesome if Portal 2 came with Half-Life 2: Episode 3 (someday). Then I wouldn't mind paying the full price.
August 5, 2010 at 10:09 pm #64814mason1182MemberYeah that would be good but there is no sign of Half Life 2 Ep3 so i take it that it wont be around for a while yet.
@parnakas: off topic but 3d Dot Heroes was a full price game here in the UK, crap for us eh?
August 5, 2010 at 10:16 pm #64816RKF95MemberI really think Portal 2 will be a standalone 60$ game, just with a lot more content.
But, who knows

Yeah, I know.
But the first game was such a short one. I do think that with all the new features (Aerial Faith Plates, Propulsion/Repulsion Gel), there can be more puzzles, increasing the lenght of the game.
