What i'm saying is it's just a rip off to get you to float SONY bank balance…
And as for BBc i-player, I'm from Scotland and it's very much active here… Every Ps3 in the UK is enjoying i-player as we type…
And where is my trophy room in home? That's the only thing I'd use home for, to show off all my (7, lol) Plats… Give us stuff we can use for an actual purpose, not to “jazz” up my Ps3
January 28, 2010 at 2:19 am #56367ecurryMemberPS Welcome to APT Doc-b it is good to have new members with good opinions here.
I can see your point i am not being argumentative and apologies if i come across so. I just like to have a debate about stuff sometimes and by no means am i saying you are wrong just that i see it differently. The bbc iplayer yes you can do it yourself as you are in Scotland in the UK. I stream media form the internet from time to time on my PS3 but i cannot get BBC iPlayer to work here in Ireland, to watch F1 races and discussions mainly and for legal restrictions they will not update the console for it. I know there is the possiblilty of using proxy servers but i don't like using them!
Firmware updates are majorly developed to be similar in all regions and so I cannot see an update rolling out from Sony to add BBC iPlayer specifically for UK residents as it would cost too much hassle legally and pi$$ off everyone else in EU.
Social networking has taken the world by storm it is enormous mainly due to Facebook, I am not a social networking fan at all and therefore have no interest in Home as i see it as an interactive social network. But the figures are there to show that social networking is a large part of peoples lives nowadays (sadly ) and therefore i can see the appeal of this as part of the PS3 network.
If we didn't float Sony's bank balance we would not have what we have today and the future of Playstation would come under threat. They (Sony) are not as stable as they make themselves out to be and i can see the PS3 lasting until 2016 at the earliest before we see the next generation of gaming consoles. The profits from the PS2 are still far superior to PS3 profits. And so i can understand why they roll out so many purchasable modifications, I like personalising consoles PC's etc so this work for me and I would say the majority of people would be the same but I understand it is not what everyone wants. If you want it you buy it if you don't you wont.
There are updates that i would like that haven't happened yet – mainly the music in background option while gaming other than that i think Sony are doing a brilliant job of maintaining the consoles appeal
January 28, 2010 at 2:35 pm #56378Doc-BMemberDon't worry, i like a friendly debate also… The BBC i-player was given out in an official FW update… It has it's own column and i can launch it straight from the XMB without going through the web browser… You can also now get it for the Wii…
And with rumors of LoveFilm and sky having talks with SONY is very interesting… It seems you get screwed for staying in Ireland man..

Any one whose familiar with home will know all about micro transactions as there called… And it was only a matter of time before this pointless urge to buy stupid, crappy polygons spilt over onto the PSN store… Now this might be an old topic but I've just started posting lately, and there are just some things you have to moan about, eh?
Let's start with dynamic themes – WOW, the screen moves… How long does anyone really spend on there XMB? I switch the beast on and play a game, browse the Internet, watch some films or listen to some music… Non of those things involve me watching the XMB, there cool the first time you see them or when you show a friend but the free wipe-out one did my head in after about 5 min…
Download some music videos, play them and push the PS button on your controller – Hey presto, a free “dynamic theme” you actually like!!
And the premium wallpapers, hello… You can download free HD wallpapers online, jeez…
Who the hell cares about an avatar?? Really?? I only care about how many trophy's' you got…
Non of these things add to the Ps3 experience… Where the hell's the music playback when playing games? Where's the cross game chat? When we getting a new batch of visualisations for the music playback? The schnide box is amazing for visualisations, I've seen all those pictures of earth so many times i could prob draw them all…
C'mon SONY, start giving us the things that'll make the Ps3 a stronger machine… I think the BBC i-players sweet… We need more of that and less of the – Selling stupid crap to us that we don't want or need… Are they trying to blind us with these weak offerings, so we forget about the important things we want?
I've gotta agree entirely on this. But I'm pretty sure I've said it before. When are these things coming? When premium service comes out. Except the music playing, I'm pretty sure they'll always leave that up to the developer. Sometimes I used to turn on burnout paradise and hit the custom music just for a different looking screen saver thing. A lot of people try to argue that the devs don't want to invest time and money in a soundtrack to just have it over written by the users – I say, you're developing a game for your consumers – give them what they want. No matter how good your soundtrack is, if your game is great and we play it a lot we WILL get sick of the soundtrack. Any sandbox game should have custom music option. Infamous, GTA, RFG, AC2 especially (no frickin music while exploring?! boooorrrring!), need I go on?
January 28, 2010 at 3:49 pm #56386Domba_carMemberI can agree with most of the things Doc-B and BigWoopMagazine said. Sony is just addind things that NO-ONE asked for… I do think the dynamic themes are pretty cool but there not free… Sony should start listening to what people have to say.
We want: Cross-game Voice-chat, in-game custom music, more stuff like BBC i-player and VidZone, stop banning people without warning them (well I'm probably the only guy on this site who wants that)…
January 28, 2010 at 4:43 pm #56389parnakasMemberIn my opiniom, in-game music is one of the MOST important features that sony should look in to. I love listening to music while i play.
In KZ2, you could listen to your own music while playing online.. I thought that was awesome!!
That feature doesn't seem like it would be hard to do, so why not do it sony? HURRY UP!!

Wow that is something i never heard of being introduced as a FW update, it really surprises me i have been saying for a long time it is not something i can ever see happening for legal reasons, but i have been proven wrong. That really pi$$es me off now that you can get this in the UK and we can't. Ireland really sux, it is such a backwards country.
So backwards in fact that my hometown in the countryside the residents there (aka the furniture) are petitioning against the introduction of Broadband in case they cook like they were in a Microwave. WTF!!!!!!! I hate this country some times. It's as if nothing exists outside of this country!!!!! aaarrgggh Everything i hate about this country is highlighted even more so. Its official guys Broadband is the devil and cooks you from the inside out – dial up is the way forward over here, lets bring back the wind up radio and Betmax tapes while we're at it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man i wish we had the iPlayer that would be awesome. Sorry for wronging you on the iPlayer, I have been pwned
