Private chat on ps3 :(

when using a 360( yh, bad times) The one thing i did notice that seperates the online capabilities of PSN and XBL is the private chat function.

Now, i do take into account that sony have tried 2 do something about this, and added text chat, which i am very pleased about, as you can discuss in large groups on many games (lolz 2 the allps3trophies chat rooms )

However………

I still think that a private chat function, where you literally select the friends ID, and talk, headset to headset is the ability missing. Many argue that not many people have headsets, whereas 360s come with them, but i disagree.Many games supply them, e.g warhawk, mgs4 did, TC Endwar did, and many like me, just bought the official sony 1.

The reason im posting this is cos ive heard rumours circulating that apparently, the only market that wants this function is UK/Europe, which is a small proportion compared to the worldwide market, and 'apparently its not worth the amount of work'

BUT…….THESE ARE JUST RUMOURS

basically, im just trying 2 c hu else wants this, and telling sony….PLEASE

I have a allps3trhphies chat room… I am going to make a trophy help one simply beacuse I’m fed up with people sending me messages whislt I am playing a game and having to open them sometimes frezes the ps3… so far, that chat room hasn’t.

I want this feature also. I live in the states. =)

Another feature I like that the other console has is the ability to have more than 1 profile playing split-screen online. Being that Psn is free though and someone could techniclly have many many accounts,I dont see how to have this feature without it being exploited heavily to gain trophies.

As I am sure there is people who have money to burn who have paid for multiple accounts on xbl to exploit it for their gamerscore.

i do like the chat feature sony put in though. I used it for the first time yesterday and it is quite convienent.

I was in 2 chatting at one time lol. 1 with l8scent for Socom chat and the other allps3trophies one Pokenny had going.I think at 1 point we had like 6 or 7 of us from here chatting in there,I cant remember lol.

I`d like the idea of getting an in game chat room function but sony probably won`t do it…probably because games such as CoD4, on search and destroy when you die you could spectate someone in 3rd person and help them with what`s goin on from behind…..sounds petty but it could be one of the reasons…… also the ps3 can frezze just from sending messages what wil it be like if your trying to have an online chat and playing a online game at the same time? but i still want the option to have a in-game chat, it`d be handy for helping m8s on fallout 3 meaning we could do stuff together….if that makes sense…..because whenever you go to the text chat it takes you right out of the action….

Kingofgames, as far as the cod4 scenario you would be suprised at how many people do that now via instant messenger or text messaging from their phone. So as I see it, It would be no better or no worse to have the feature.

Yh, i thought tht, nd also peeps wud do tht on 360 anyways so….lol

tbh, i just think this function would bring a more person to person feeling.

However, reading this forum, i do realise the point about crashing wen text messaging is valid, so text chat would be more excessive
