2 years old- i believe that means its a 60gb? Well… i've still not known many ps3s 2 go wrong but if yours is a 60gb, they are the majority of the 1s to break. My old 60 gb broke just inside warranty (blu-ray drive went), so now i've got a refurbished 1, very loud, and every time i use it for too long i swear it is on the verge of dying
*p.s* *Post 150 🙂 yay!*

Yes, i paid to replace it.
I didnt have to, but 20GB is very small due to those massive “installs” on your harddrive.

How much did it cost?
July 7, 2009 at 10:59 pm #29901XeroTheGreatMemberIsn't changing the hard drive a simple operation? Just pull off the side cover, unscrew the old one, insert the new one, and put back the cover.
July 7, 2009 at 11:33 pm #29903kingofgames73MemberChanging the HDD is not that easy, the screws are as tight as hell, ruin them and your kinda screwed (joke intended). google `changing HDD on ps3` read the forum sites and you’ll see loads of people who have ruined the screws….also the thing to pull your HDD (blue little handle)looks and feels like a paperclip break that and you are in bother

You just made me never want to change my HDD. That cover that opens up and shows all these ports to put stuff in side is broken on my ps3 it was my fault .
July 8, 2009 at 6:43 pm #29929Ps3 FreakMemberIf i wanted to put a hhd in my ps3 to delete everything on it and the put the original back in would it cause any faults or stuff like that??
July 8, 2009 at 9:11 pm #29932HypnosisMembernope it shouldnt. the only thing is, is when you put the original back in, you might have to format that drive as well. Since having put in another drive and formatted it,it will now recognize the original as a different one therefor the ps3 might want to format it. I am not possitive on this though and I am just speculating lol.
As far as changing out your Hard drive. Dont let any1 scare you about the screws and handle. I put a 500 gig hdd in mine and it was very easy and quick. I have a launch 60g model and dont know if they changed anything from my model to the new models. As long as you get a screwdriver that fits snug and you take your time, you cant really mess it up. Also my blue handle to pull it out and push it in was really sturdy. i think i would of needed 2 hands to bend it. Like I said though, they might have changed some parts out since my model to make things cheaper due to everyone complaining and whining that they want a cheaper Ps3.The ps3 is well worth the money it cost and always has been for all the capabilities it has.

They are quite cheap.
And YES, changing the HDD is extremely easy. I did it in like 2 Minutes.
