Since having put in another drive and formatted it,it will now recognize the original as a different one therefor the ps3 might want to format it. I am not possitive on this though and I am just speculating lol.
As far as changing out your Hard drive. Dont let any1 scare you about the screws and handle. I put a 500 gig hdd in mine and it was very easy and quick. I have a launch 60g model and dont know if they changed anything from my model to the new models. As long as you get a screwdriver that fits snug and you take your time, you cant really mess it up. Also my blue handle to pull it out and push it in was really sturdy. i think i would of needed 2 hands to bend it. Like I said though,they might have changed some parts out since my model to make things cheaper due to everyone complaining and whining that they want a cheaper Ps3.The ps3 is well worth the money it cost and always has been for all the capabilities it has.
