So the avatar service available in the store is successful at this point. I see a lot of diversity of avatars on my friends list and thats great. LBP, RDR, GTA4, and Uncharted are great and all but I’d like a lot more ones available for my tastes. Take for example, Mass Effect 2. I think every single character in that game is awesome and I’d be honoured to stick a couple on my PSN ID. Other games that deserve avatars are Batman Arkham Asylum, Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Mafia 2, and Black Ops. I’d also like to see Isaac Clarke, The Fallout Mascot(SEVERAL possibilities there) and Dusty from Medal of Honor. I absolutely hate it when the avatars don’t do a good close up or games that have potential for great avatars yuk it up as well (Dead Rising 2,Resistance, God of War). Well that’s my rant. Make it happen,PSN! Anybody got any other ideas for great avatars? Which one are you using now?

I don't bother using any of the ones I have (all from PS+) as I'm quite loyal to my Ratchet and Clank avatar. But I do think the broadening range is great. I particularly like the Dead Nation set.

I think it's fair to say the original lot we got were pretty poor and people tended to gravitate towards the same ones.

I'd love to see games giving more unlockable avatars. The trophy picture for getting the plat in a game would be cool.

I still think that if you unlock a trophy you should be able to use the image as your avatar

I agree. There needs to be newer and improved avatars on the network. I know a few people on my friends list jailbroke their ps3's awhile back and still have custom avatars showing on their PSN ID profiles.

I'd like to see some DC Universe or Borderlands avatars, but that's wishful thinking of course.

@gr8jrfan – I agree, it would be nice to see Batman Arkham Asylum, Resident Evil 5, & Mafia 2 avatars in the PSN Store.

I don't see why they [whoever] couldn't have 3-5 avatars for every half-decent game available??

I can't imagine it being a massive problem… ever. And all those micro-transactions add up? Like a lot of things with Sony, and this is not just because I'm pissed about PSN being down, I'm not really 'pissed' at all, but it's [avatars] a second rate, last minute add… 'Shiny' enough to get some interest but not actually substantial enough to 'hold any water'…

At the same time i don't really see all the fuss about millions of 'avatars'… I'm more of a 'pick & stick' kinda person when it comes to these things, even if it means picking the best of a bad bunch sometimes
