Not looking for an argument mate but in my first post in this topic I said that I understand that PSN as it is today will remain free, then in my next post said I will wait for official confirmation of content and price before I make up my mind on whether I will pay for it or not.
December 24, 2009 at 1:07 am #53607barkiemailmanMember@redbren – Don't worry about it. When I wrote that I was on page 2 of this forum. If you just look from the top on that page you were just the 1st person to say you don't like the sound of it, then ratchet says that he heard it'll be $10 a month and Sony's turning out like Microsoft, then KOG73 says that he heard it can be $30 – $60 a month….
So, we're cool, I just didn't like checking out any topic and seeing people get insulted for no reason. I'm not applauding what Tattoo wrote either, but he does have a point. Let's all just forget it for now and see what the offerings are when they are available.

December 24, 2009 at 10:25 am #53624buddysonMemberit just better be XBL good! this money that were all probably going to dish out has to boost up out connection. I mean I'm not complaining about something thats FREE! but with this it should be better for everybody.
December 24, 2009 at 4:05 pm #53649parnakasMemberI know that this is all rumors and whatnot.. but come on people look at yourselves.
For Years, you guys have been complaining about “You shouldn't have to pay for online! Microsoft is just gay!” and “Microsoft are so greedy because they charge for online, which should be a free service”.
I for one, am not going to pay for PSN.. unless its like $5 a year. Because tbh, why am i going to pay for something that i have been complaining about for years! Does not make any sense!
And all that option crap up there – pointless. What if i want all of those features? I should at least be allowed to choose what i want to do if im going to be paying for this crap. Why should some people get certain features, that others dont get, even though they are paying the same price! Example – option 1, 2, and 4 are the same price, but all have different features.. WTF! thats so stupid! It should include all of the features..
If Sony decides to actually charge for online – then its going to really kill the PS3.
December 24, 2009 at 4:14 pm #53654W4RG34R3D_SN1P3RMemberIf anything Sony wouldve made a smarter approach and and make a checklist . A type of menu where you have the screen in front of you , and you check mark every feature you like , and in the end you get a overall total and thats what your paying , atleast now your getting what you want and not getting anything useless to you .

that would have been cool..
or Sony can do the smart thing – leave PSN Free.. add some new features, but leave it Free. This way, no one can complain!
December 24, 2009 at 4:45 pm #53661RogueAssassin6MemberIf you guys read what I had posted before, I said that Sony has confirmed that PSN will remain free.
December 24, 2009 at 4:47 pm #53662BigWoopMagazineMember@barkie – way to be the voice of reason. seriously, kudos.
@the rest of ya – you might find this interesting. This website rarely steers me wrong, and if they do, they always post an immediate follow up stating that its wrong, and why. This basically reiterates the options listed above, but in an easier to read chart, plus nice descriptions of each feature:
Also, let it be noted, that all this information is a survey. So, this means that an independent company presented these options to people in order to gather information on what they think of the services, and how much they'd be willing to pay for those things. So… in no way are these the official options or prices. However, what is official, and has been since the first time sony talked about implementing a charge service, is that all of it is completely optional, and all charges will be for services in addition to what already exists. Meaning, if you don't want to pay, nothing changes. I realize this was said above, but its a really important point that needs to be stressed.
That said, I really don't think I'd pay for any of these things. A lot of them are somewhat interesting, but not really worth money to me. However, I appreciate that this will generate revenue that can be reinvested in improving the already existing service, along with providing this premium service. That really is the idea here. I think the smartest move they're making here is including the cross-chat in the premium service. Its not a service that I care to have, but a lot of people do, and that alone is going to generate a lot of money for them.
The exclusive betas and customer loyalty rewards is something I was already getting from Qore… which I pay $25 a year for. So I guess this is where my only issue comes in… am I still going to get these things from Qore? Should I switch to the premium service, given that its approximately the same price, if these hypothetical pricing plans are implemented? When I originally got Qore, I knew free stuff was coming, and then just had faith that more would come too (and was pleasently surprised by all three betas, U2, MAG, and Modnation). I still want this stuff, but since they rarely announce its arrival more than a few weeks ahead of time, its going to be really hard to tell which I'm better off with.

There is no free trial, if you subscribe for a year then you get an extra 3 months for free…

most likely from a shop or using your credit card from your ps3 but the psn plus hasn't started yet not till late this month or early this month
and also shadiest i heard you can start the 1-3month trial when the psn plus starts and if you decide to start paying for it once your trials up you keep all the content you downloaded but if not the content that is part of the psn plus which you downloaded during the trial will be blocked till you get psn plus
June 19, 2010 at 4:14 pm #62786Doc-BMemberYou should read through the comments on the links provided… They should answer all your questions but here is some info anyway. It's easy to be confused about this because there has been a lot of diff. info given, as official info.
Date – 29th June
Price – €14.99 / £11.99 for 90 days and €49.99 / £39.99 for a whole year.
**The thing about the 3 free months was a bit of a sham really. From what i gather there was rumor that everyone would get a free trial… No. Anyone in the US buying a year will get 15months for the price of 12. Anyone buying a year in Eu will get a DL version of LBP for free. **
“Free” content will only be available as you are subscribed to PSN+, meaning it's more like a rental service. Also, free game credits, don't stack – If one month you don't want any of the free games offered, you lose the credit. There's also no inclusion of free movie rentals.
The only things i think you do get to keep if you don't re-subscribe are the avatars and themes you get. And the copy of LBP if you go for the year. I think it's stupid they didn't wait until LBP2… They would have sold the service by the bucket load if they had.
I'm 100% not getting this crap!! Nothing that i want is included, I'd rather continue to pay and keep the few games i buy i year. Auto-Update, you want me to pay for that Sony?? WTF? Minis and classics don't have trophy support, will trophy whore's care about these free games?
If you've already bought a lot of games etc. from the store this service loses it's value even more. Cross-game chat, mentioned on the Playstationplus website itself, has vanished. It also mentions that with the free 1-hour trial, all tophies and unlocks you gained will be given back with purchase of the full game. Does this mean that at the end of subscription your trophies will vanish along with your games? I guess we'll find out next year, lol… When will Sony give us stuff we want
£40 a year for what is effectivly a rental service – No thanks.
