I want to play some of my ps2 games on my ps3 with the saved data of the game. How do i do it, do i need to buy something for it? Cause i don't want to take out my dusty ps2 and plug it in. Thanks :).
November 28, 2009 at 11:20 pm #51204xxKnightmarExxMemberYou need a memory card adaptor to switch the files over to your ps3, you'll also need a 60gb console which I presume you have since your asking.
November 28, 2009 at 11:26 pm #51205Ratchet525Memberdamn, i knew i needed a adapter. Oh well.
oh and btw i have the old 80gb ones (the one with the slots and 4 usb ports)
November 29, 2009 at 2:38 am #51226Yakumo89MemberA memory card adapter is necessary to transfer old saved data files onto your PS3. I also want to add that an 80gb PS3 will work fine. You might also want to download the app for PS2 data from the playstation store.
November 29, 2009 at 2:51 am #51227xxKnightmarExxMemberTheres an app on the playstation store!?! The U.S one? Ima download that!
November 29, 2009 at 2:55 am #51228Yakumo89MemberThere was some kind of app of the US Playstation store. I remember it had something to do with PS2 Save data, but don't remember much else about it.
November 29, 2009 at 2:58 am #51229xxKnightmarExxMemberThanks, I'll have to make a U.S account and check that out then.
November 29, 2009 at 3:25 am #51233Ratchet525Memberyeah i have that app but i don't get what its really for.

Was there a PS/PS2 Game Data icon under GAME on the XMB before you downloaded it? I think it just lets you save your PS2 games directly to your ps3.
You will definitely need a memory card adapter, there about $25 (a rip off if you ask me..). Don't get why they didn't include a slot to plug it into.. I mean, you can plug in your SD cards, Memory Stick Duos, and some other crap, but not Sony's OWN card!! WTF!!!
anyway.. are you sure you can play PS2 games on your PS3? I know i can, with my 20GB model, and i know the 60s can as well.. but i don't think the 80's can.. have you tried it yet?

no i haven't but im positive i have the old 80gbs.
November 29, 2009 at 5:35 am #51241Yakumo89MemberYes, the 80gbs work just fine. I can attest to that because I recall playing GTA 3 on my 80gb not too long ago and the PS3 worked just fine.
November 29, 2009 at 6:17 am #51242xxKnightmarExxMemberI tried it on my 80gb and it doesn't work, 60gbs can though.
November 29, 2009 at 10:07 am #51245Yakumo89MemberWell, this link should clear up the confusion about PS3 Backward Compatability:
November 29, 2009 at 9:35 pm #51315JEG050Participantif you want you could buy one use it and then return it. If that is an option.
November 29, 2009 at 9:47 pm #51318Ratchet525Memberi think i'd just rather use my ps2 until i change my mind or i have the chance to buy one.
